everything ab riding a bike is mental. but once u get past that part, get your body in good physical shape as well if your riding riding like i try to, stretch before hand and after, learn the basics before u do crazy stuff.
Appreciate that tip 🫶🏾
@@djsovain Ofc bro I’m still new but I’ve learned a lot
I appreciate the sentiment, but disagree entirely. Everything about riding a bike is physical. Doesn't matter if you think 'swerve', 'stop', 'lean' etc. The bike only responds to movement-but it takes a lot of self awareness to know every movement that's affecting your ride.
@@squidlybytes yea that’s mental aspect, physical is important yes but if you don’t know what to do at the right time the physical part isn’t as helpful, over time it just becomes muscle memory and brain, not much physically, that’s how I see it atleast u could do everything physically right but if ur mind isn’t focosued or u target fixate or ur not confident it all goes down the drain
I agree and u say it in ur vids but yes keep up to date on maintenance check tires and oractice ur skills, don’t go out there ride 100% ur first week, but practice and practice till u know the basics well enoguh to ride harder
1st gear 60+ mph is crazy
Lol this bike can get to almost triple digits in first gear
He’s right most liter bikes do 90 in first, some do 100.
I just got my learner's at 43 years old. Thanks for all of this. Great tips. I took notes.
What I got from this video: those gloves are SICK
My takeaway from this video, is that it makes you feel good to just come and come and come. But really, this video will come in handy as I'm picking up my first bike in a few days.
Above all else, know your roads. Every crack, hole, bump, dip, collection of sand after rains, dirt buildup, etc. Study your roads and scan them like a terminator at all times because it's not a game on the road. Yes, it's a blast! But a great deal of the fun and appeal comes from the inherent danger. Don't look at it as just a hobby. Look at it as a sport of life and death. Anytime you feel confident, CHECK YOURSELF and reel yourself back in. Never become too confident. Maintain a healthy fear of the ride the same as a lifelong sailor maintains a healthy fear and respect for the raging sea and in time you will become the road warrior, my friend!!!
I’d also add, ride a familiar, not too busy safe route over and over before branching out to lesser known busier routes.
Congratulations and good luck 🍀
I'll definitely stick to the familiar roads with not too much traffic while I'm getting used to the bike. Thanks for the advice!
Dropped my brand new ZX6R on the second day doing a low speed tight U turn. I was super bummed for a few days but it was a learning lesson. Clip on handle bars, full tank of gas, different fork alignment, higher foot peg position all played a part. My last bike was a 650 Ninja and I could do low speed maneuvers like a pro. But the ZX6R is a different beast. Noticed the steering damper on your new bike. Factory installed?
Zx10 is factory
Yessir and nothing to be ashamed of the clipons add +10 difficulty to slow speed maneuvers haha
Doesn't the 650 have clipons too?
@@HeldIntegralYep, but they are not down low and tilted like the zx6 or any other supersport, they give more of a bar feeling, kinda like the Ninja 400.
Darth Vader's ZX10
Thanks for the video, I am going to a dealership to see a couple of GSXRs tomorrow. already loan approved.....
Buy a used one donkey
That's an incredibly beautiful bike.
I also ride 2 fingers on the brake. Something to consider, however.. at Jason Pridmore's school, he taught 4 fingers simply because of brake fade. It's unlikely it would ever happen on a street, but should it ever happen, your ring and pinkie will prevent you from squeezing the brake all the way. YMMV
Regardless, practicing hard braking is a good idea, even in a parking lot. It definitely saved my life.
Loved the detailed walkthru.
Man, I know you are aware that the zx10r has quickshift up & down.
Keep up the vids.
Great video! Just ordered my first factory new bike, will make sure to follow your procedure!
But the slow maneuvering - by going this fast you'll have a gyro effect making things very easy. try going max 5 km/h (~3mp/h).
24 s1000 m package and premium… clutch is super tough to pull like tendons in my arm feel strained so bad I get fatigued and from a stop bike cuts off…. I feel like a total dufus….. been riding big dirt bikes since I was in 6th grade…. Brake feels great but I’m gonna go in the garage and see how far or close it is. I do notice rolling the throttle while braking. I’m just super conscious about every movement and I just correct it.
I am looking for a first bike, I am old enough to have a full license so i can buy anything and damn it is hard not to look at cbr600 and other 4cyl 600 as first bike.
Your channel (and few others) really help to get back to reality where there are many reasons to just start slower because there is a lot to learn
You are about to start a magical journey - patience really is a virtue, start small and it will last forever but jump in too deep and it may well be over far too soon.
If price isn't a concern, the zx-4rr is a lot of fun. With just a tune (US and Canada spec) it wakes up a lot and isn't such a committed riding position you'll hate it once you hit stop and go traffic.
@@MrSkyentist price unfortunately is a concern, I will buy used. I remember about the gear etc and that also makes budget slightly worse it is what it is.
I would love zx4rr though, I was looking at the cb1 400 just to have that 400cc 4cyl but I would like fuel injection because it's less maintenance and overall cheaper over the years (I know you can set the carbs by yourself but I doubt I would manage do it well enough)
My 16 yr old son I have him do cone work every time we get on bike. He just did his MSF course after only 2 weeks ever on a bike & he passed & was probably 2nd slow speed person on bike. & Was youngest probably 6-7 yrs. & At emd of day one he said i can't believe jow many ppl jad trouble on bike. I said thats because ppl dont practice low speed
Notice when he downshift the rev match lol Im practicing that now
Missing the vids bro!
Same, unfortunately he’s now retired😔
Hol up, you're in Georgia?
I just bought the same 2024 ZX10R in all black it comes this week can’t wait to ride again haven’t rode since my last accident in 2021 !
wait drop the link for the trans coded gloves those are so cute i want some
Not related to this video but i was curious if youve done a video on starting drom a stop on an incline utilizing the friction zone?
Im here to stare at your beautiful bike
What an awesome video. Really nice stuff yo!
As always, another great video! I rode my friend's BMW r9t oh yeah that boxer engine kicked me in the butt. I think that bike has a dry clutch, don't know what the difference is between that and a wet clutch but definitely different riding experience!
If you set your brake at a distance will you be able to trail brake?
Yessir and helps to make sure throttle is 100% closed or brake 100% disengaged when going back on the throttle
Very informative video. Great job explaining everything.
Thank you 👌🙏
i just got a 400 cc bike and it is so heavy that my legs are in pain just to push the bike with legs
first time i adjusted the clutch put it too far out and nearly totaled cause i was expecting it to start rolling so much earlier but just sat there leaning and revving the bike
You don’t like the HOORAH? I LOVE new bike day and the hoorah!
What type of gloves are those?
Looks like your destickered it. Nice.
The new ones come blacked out it’s pretty clean
@@kylewest4212 I’ll stick to my green one, but the clean look has its appeal.
Set on a zx10r. However only experience is frequent track days on a ninja 400. Its been about 4 years. Interested in your thoughts 💭
The kawaii is sick bro
Hey Skyoon I just bought a 2023 Hayabusa last week just wondering if you’ve ever rode a Busa ?? I’m gonna thy this process this weekend Thanks !!
damn brother great content you defenitly deserve more subs
Nice ride!
Hey bro, if only choose one... Zx10r or gsxr1000? Choosing between the two, cant decide what to get
Commenting to help your algorithm
what gloves are those ?
What kind of bike did you just buy? Thanks in advance. ~ Steve
What kind of bike does he have?
6:39 nice ABS skid marks
Excellent video
Do you think a 140 pound 16-17 could start on a 2024+ s1k I was think of it because of all the tech it can help and learn the buck with more or less the some as something as a 600-500-400 just that it heavier then the 400 not the 600
The bike that I get will be use as a as a daily and a fun bike on the weekends
@revved-upp Out of your mind to start on that as a first bike at 16-17. You will kill yourself. Start on a 300 and just resell it dude. Facebook marketplace, lots of deals to be had you won't lose money riding a smaller bike for 3-4 months while you learn to ride.
What would you tell a new pilot recruit if he said he was ready to jump in a f35 with no previous flying experience @@Revved-upp ?
Newer small bikes like the RC390 and and RS457 have most of the tech of the big bikes.
@@ARCNA442 after what’s everyone is say I think I am going to go for the rs457 and save up for the bmw well I learn how to ride. Thank you for the advice everyone.
Bruh... I'm STILL afraid of dropping my ZX10R lmao
what camera and setting are you using?
skyoom would blow if he branched into other types of content besides just educational
Skyoom what state do you live in again? You mentioned georgia state troopers and i know them aaaaall too well
Have you owned a Square 4 rotary valve 2 stroke?
buying a triumph tiger 900 gt pro in a month. Everyone is like dont buy a new bike you will drop it. Im like yeah I know and ? ( Ill still get Crashguards just incase :D )
Bought a bike and scared to ride it because how much it cost 🤦
Straight off leave start it and push round Manually scooting it back and forth , because unless your tool your going to drop your bike at less than 5 mph.
Most definitely GSP don’t don’t play they are very sneaky 🤦🏾♂️
Easy, I don’t buy new bikes partly because of this reason. I like to ride them not worshipping them. One I bought new, r1 in 2008, I proceeded to cut the catalytic out, put mods, making it lose warranty immediately. Never been to a dealership with it. Don’t care about it anymore.
I mean, the first thing I wouldn't do is sit in the passing lane for no reason. Especially not while economobiles have to go around me on the right 🙄
Nice video! Do you have interest in reviewing Moto CarPlay screen? We would love to cooperate with you! Looking forward to your reply😉
Well dayum what about the lady bikers😂
sorry, do WHAT right onto the front brake? 😏
Quit hogging the left lane though!
dial down the arrogance a tad
Nice bike
Riding first in a parking lot is absolutely necessary. You want to practice a few emergency breaking situations and you can get familiar with low speed control of bike before exposure to all the threats of the road.
And getting a license
Hey skyoom. You’ve been really helpful. Can you please do a suspension adjustment video??
+1
Yeah, would be helpful
Suspension adjustment is for Circuit
A lot of modern superbikes have modes
Street and track
If you really want to get in to it and your bike is manual adjustment like mine then it's hard or soft front to rear
@@RRFriction? Only 20k+ bikes have active suspension and most niceish modern bikes have atleast a couple adjustable settings for damping/preload/sag/compression.
DO NOT adjust your suspension. Just don’t.
Haha I just bought a 24 black ZX10R last week. Twins!
What was ur username and picture before u had a zx10r then? 😅
@@HeldIntegral just a random generic one from years ago. I have never posted on RUclips until this week. I plan on making lots of content here soon. My GoPro gets here this week.
Honestly I respect people that are good with slow speed stuff. MSF gave me a new found respect for it
Some people overthink the simplest things and make it way harder than it ever was 😂
just got an 2005 GSXR 1000 this video has helped me alot honestly thanks alot
gsxr k5-k6 are rowdy ;) i have 05 zx10 aka widow maker ;P same story... luv it...
picked up my 24 zx10 last month. if u could do a video explaining how to set up the suspension that would be awesome
Appreciate the advice, as always.
Ummm, did I miss a few videos? Where is the gixxer? That was WHY I watched. Cool, another zx10r… the #1 crashed bike that has taken more lives than any other bike. Good luck
Shes in the shop 🤧
It’s not the bike, it’s the accessibility to the bike. The zx10r in a lot of places is the cheapest liter bike.
I get end can from Ali express after tank pads 😄 Riding S1000R and because of the ugly cat I get belly pan also. Its levers suit my hands really well and I can do 2 finger braking with easy once I roll off. I lost 18 kilos and with my leathers I’m very close to the standard setup. My bike has only preload to set and rest its electronics. The most easy mod for me that’s really important is tank grip pads, because they help me a ton to hold and relax my hands
Just bought a bike I seen you can change the brake and clutch pressure, there’s a option that says “Min” and you can go up a little to “max” but I did not know you can adjust the distance from close and far.
Puig windscreen?
Yessir
@@skyoom1 Hell yeah! Got the same style double bubble on the rsv4. Knew it looked similar
Where you been at? I'm fairly new to the channel and don't know how consistent you drop videos.
I have recently got my motorcycle license, and I’m looking at buying a bike. I found your video extremely helpful. Thank you, bro.
Recently found your channel and absolutely loving all of your content. You seem very knowledgeable when it comes to motorcycling and I was wondering if all of your experience just came from years of street riding or maybe some on track experience? You really sound like an instructor and I appreciate your take on things!
Congrats on the new 10r, I ride a 2013 636. I do want a 10r next just to experience and learn something new. Never had a liter bike before.
You don't need an excuse to just stare. We all know bikers, especially those with new bikes, will just sit there and fuck their bike with their eyes every rest.
Sad to see accident happen to you loved your talking about the way you explain, just unlucky, shit happens
Bro u gunna fuck ya clutch plates u have that cable to tight , needs to b five mil of free play or u WILL toast those plates
this was just the video i needed and i love how it’s informative yet concise
Just subscribed mate, please keep on the good work and advices. See ya on the next one
Thank you sir. Planning on getting my next bike soon and will let you know what happens
I have the same bike! Just got it a week ago. Such a sick looking bike
Can someone tell me what bike this is it’s fucking beautiful?
Someone doesn't trail brake 😢
Does anyone know where I put the remote? 😢
Yeah man, that’s the part that get me nervous well not nervous but I don’t want to drop my bike. Dirt bikes. I’m OK to drop it. But not my sport bike😢😢
Thanks for the video I just got a Kawasaki Z650RS and loving it but I need to fine tune the clutch a tad for me. The throttle on it is a tad snatchy low in the gears.
Excellent information. Going against the grain here so I know I might get some flack. But I plan on getting a brand new 2024 ZX 6R as my first motorcycle.
I know I know bad idea for a new bike but I plan on being careful. These are excellence tips thank you!
I wish I got zx6r 1st. Woulda saved a lot of money. But I'd also probably be dead cos of all the close calls.
For reference 99% of drivers I ride past are literally on their phones
@@HeldIntegral yeah I wanted something I can grow into. I’m also 25 YO so I have a more mature mindset while I’m taking it very slow. Just waiting to take my MSF course!
Nah bro youll be fine im 17 and bouta get a r6 if u stay in low rpm youll be chillin
More videos please 😊
Where's the gloves at
Oh this is interesting. Ive never really thought about there being any method to the madness apart from just taking it easy and getting the hours in on a bike until it feels comfortable and I can feel what needs to be adjusted or not... Starting to think having a plan is probably better haha
The MSF course I took taught me to ride on a Harley Street 500. I felt really good and confident on it. I wanted and bought a CBR500R and went to a parking lot to practice the same drills. That U-Turn definitely rides differently lol. I almost dropped my bike twice before doing a couple that I was good with😅.
Your shifts shouldn't be clunky just because it's an new or unfamiliar bike. If they are, you're trying to shift too fast. Once you get to know the bike and can determine the optimal shift points, then you can shift fast. Until then, you need to shift smoothly rather than quickly. Over the years I've been on a lot of motorcycles that were new to me. Never had clunky shifts because I was purposely being smooth with it. Works on every bike.
People should probably note, there’s definitely a difference between an experienced rider buying a new unfamiliar bike, and a new rider buying their first bike.
The point of spending some time in a parking lot is just getting used to the throttle response, how hard the brakes grab, what the turning radius is like, etc before having to do it in traffic where nobody else expects you to be learning. A new rider shouldn’t just be winging it and adjusting their clutch on a public road like someone who really knows what they’re doing.
Got my new bike just a few weeks back. The timing of this video couldn't have been any better
I hope you keep making these videos. Your following may be small (for now), but the quality of instruction is better than anyone else on RUclips.
Hey skyoom, it seems like the vibe of a lot of your videos is to not get a liter bike, but what makes you ride a liter bike outside of it being twitchy like you said? Where do you utilize it's power? Do you speed of camera or do mini pulls to about the speed limit? Is it just to pull out of the corners in twisties harder? Do you take them to the track?
I have a deposit on a Fireblade and I really want it, but I know it doesn't make sense. It's not clout because I don't ride in a group or with anyone at all, I have no one to impress, but these superbikes just speak to me.
I usually set my brake lever so that, at 0% throttle, i can reach my fingers over without having to go up and over if that makes sense. I dont want to have to pull my hand back to reach over the lever, i just go stretch my fingers and let them rest on the lever... Now that i think of it its probably bad for trail braking but when i ride hard enough to need to trail brake, my throttle hand adjusts accordingly
