I'm a researcher in cognitive neuroscience. We would NEVER be allowed to run an experiment like that. Unreasonably high financial compensation for psychologically damaging situations is not acceptable. There's something called the Helsinki declarations outlining the bare minimum of ethically acceptable conduct. So if we can't do something like this to literally benefit humanity by learning about psychiatric disease, I am damn sure it shouldn't be allowed to do something like this for entertainment purposes. I am so glad people in the comments are calling out the chat. I was so sick of it during the stream, it became pretty unbearable. It's funny that I said during the stream that the comments after the stream are going to be so much better than the chat, and wow was I right about that. I understand that its easier to get a different picture if you only found out about Ludwig recently. I was a fan pre covid and like many comments on his first dogpack stream said, it is not surprising at all that that Ludwig would react the way he has or that his chat would be this way.

I get not wanting to continue supporting him over, but Ludwig most certainly is not trying to enable anyone involved in this drama. I think he’s rather processing it just as we are while he’s watching it. Also, to the point with the stuff about him saying things about the stroke - Ludwig is not a doctor and does not know the effects etc. etc. I admit, it wasn’t the best thing to say, but again - he literally said it last stream about how he also has implicit bias in this situation whether he likes it or not.

What did he say wrong? The main point sin this video were about how weddle was abused through a lack of time to sleep and been pressured into doing a marathon, both of these points were talked about multiple times by lud and he called out these actions as terrible.

i dont think ludwig understands the severity of the situations, what mrbeast did, was physical and mental torture, not in like a funny way, no, literal torture. I feel like the true colors of Ludwig are showing during this drama. First livestream he spends a majority of the time trying to obfuscate and poison the well before any point gets made, followed by silent indifference when something that is hard to retort against gets brought up.
And in this second livestream you try to question the character or intentions of someone who is sharing a personal abusive relationship with an employer. Questioning stuff like mannerisms when the guy went through psychological torture is real shitty because after about 4 days of sleep deprivation through this type of torture the effects on the human mind are like those of someone who has had a stroke. I get not wanting to continue supporting him over, but Ludwig most certainly is not trying to enable anyone involved in this drama. I think he’s rather processing it just as we are while he’s watching it. Also, to the point with the stuff about him saying things about the stroke - Ludwig is not a doctor and does not know the effects etc. etc. I admit, it wasn’t the best thing to say, but again - he literally said it last stream about how he also has implicit bias in this situation whether he likes it or not.

This was such a shockingly bad take from Ludwig. I had thought him to be one of the more reasonable people in the space but this left a very bad taste in my mouth. Weddle clearly needed that money, to settle debt, he felt like he had the opportunity to live out his lifelong dream. They destroyed his car and he bought a piece of junk mini van in full with the compensation because that's all he could afford. People criticizing are incredibly privileged to not understand him at all. And Mr Beast exploited him. Disgustingly so.
