      A blur filter doesn't replace quality glass with fast apertures lol. Aperture dictates the settings you can use based on available light. Shutter speeds & iso values will be totally different at say f1.4 in low light compared to say f5.6 in the same conditions. This is a helpful tool to complement your photography, it doesn't negate the need for quality. IMO anyway

    Excellent tutorial. Thanks! One thing that took me by surprise was the simple way that you used the brush tool to eliminate the blurred area around the bandana and the overalls. My assumption was that you would use the clone tool, but clearly the brush tool worked just as well, and was likely easier to use. Never occurred to me to use a brush tool like that. Is there a general guideline that you recommend as to when to use a brush vs clone stamp tool?

    Very nice. Seems to be much easier than the Lens Blur workaround.

    I guess this is more realistic looking that just selecting subject and blurring the background? I imagine this method gives more depth.

    thanks for this tutorial, this is really nice to know!...i'm getting an error message when I try to use the depth blur on one of my pictures I shot.....the error message beside the depth blur option says "there was an issue running filters"....has anybody else experienced this? If so, how can that be fixed?

    I loved the tutorial, it is so easy to follow!!! I just have one question. Is the white paint supposed to be to make it blurry? I try to paint something white to make it blurry but it doesn't get blurry.😭😭😭

    Hi absolutely love your videos. So easy to follow compared to others. I watch your new stuff but keep referring back to lessons in your 30 days set. Please, please will it be available for a while or do you intend removing it. I will be absolutely lost without it. If I save all the lessons, is that the best way to ensure I can go back to them. Thanks.

    Taking into account that the majority of people are happy with the crappy and recognizable blur effect of the iPhone's portrait mode, this is more than decent.
    As a photo editor, I'm happy that such tools exist. As a photographer, I hate this because the blurred background is not a unique feature of "real camera" photos anymore.

  • @christophkoepfer5331
    @christophkoepfer5331 3 года назад

    Sorry, but this feature does not work very well and is not performant. Interesting that you present it at the same time as Luminar new Portrait Bokeh feature. Although I'm more of a Photoshop fan, the Luminar tool is a lot better and Photoshop looks pretty old here.
