    I made one of these a while back but it is just a plain bar with no fancy bits on it. Now I've watched this I'll make another (when the weather gets a bit warmer) and tart it up more.
    Just an idea but any bits of stock in steel, brass, acrylic etc would make a great prize for a draw. It doesn't have to be big pieces, but it would be great to have a bit of stock on the shelf to save buying a few feet of the stuff.

    One refinement you can try is to put a radius on the top end of the acrylic. It gives it a magnifyer - for those of us who need all the help we can get 😉

    I was quite surprised how well that new lathe of yours handled stainless without chatter and whinging ... all without even using tailstock support - I was sure you'd need that.
    Congrats on the 1.5K subscribers as well, Matty - you're even more popular viewing than Waleed Aly (yeah, that was a bad thing to say, sorry)

    Congrats on the 1.5k subs mate !
    Nice work on the centre punch ! i was expecting that radius tool to chatter but i didn't look like it did.
    It has got me thinking of making an optical tool height gauge that slips into the chuck or tailstock .

    • @MattysWorkshop
      @MattysWorkshop  3 года назад

      Gday Ian, the radius tool worked better then I thought it was going to considering it was stainless, I was expecting it to chatter badly and there is no way I could even think about doing the same on the other lathe, this new lathe is quite rigid...

    Nice build. I've wanted one of these for a while but have you seen the price of them .... On Ebay they're £55 plus... So an incentive for me to get on with one. Have you thought of instead of a rubber 'O' ring gluing a piece of thin rubber sheet to the bottom (inner tube ?) it would make for a flatter steadier platform and to renew dirt cheap. TTFN
