  • In this video I am Porting a head to a 2002 CRF450R. I would like to First say that I am in no way trying to make a how To video or trying to "Show Off" my port work because I am in no way the best head porter by any means. However I do know what I am doing For The Most part and I know how the way I port these heads flow on a flow bench is DECENT compared to stock or a "normal" port job.
    If you may be interested in any port work by me feel free to email me at ryan94james@gmail.com I check emails daily.

    Thats fuckin awesome 👌 theres science behind this stuff not just making everything huge and it almost completely has no restrictions other then the valve. First time seeing anyone do it like this

    Since you left a rather rude comment on one of my shorts, downing on older guys, older engines, and orange paint. I figured I would come see what you have to offer the RUclips community and I would like to say you did a nice job on this video. I have no idea what a crf450r is, nor do I really care, but you did a nice job. I also wanted to state for the record I am 29.

      What video did I leave a Rude comment on? I will gladly go retract it. My apologies. Not sure why RUclips becer told me about this comment.

      Hey man, I would like to apologize. I found and removed my comment on your Short. I must have been having a crappy day and felt like being a shit talker.. Anyways I appreciate your comment. I checked out more of your videos and you got some nice stuff going on over there. I saw the one engine that you did and just thought that that was the only thing you had or something instead of checking out your channel. I'm just so used in my neck of the woods a lot of guys will spray paint things orange thrown RV Cam, new gaskets and then they always claim it's biuld etc However, I'll own up to my mistake you do have some nice work! Keep it up.

      @@trxtech3010 I respect you having the ability to apologize, I understand what is it like having a crappy day/week and just having the urge to destroy others. It happens man, and I apologize if I said anything offensive as well

    OK, you said to look at a more current videos so I did. Critique, Your short turns came out very nicely. What you are doing with the roof is something that used to be very popular in the early 90's. Alot of learning later, we learned that creating that "Vane" that runs toward the valve works alot better. more of a pointy tear drop shape, Kind of hard to describe. Skinny rounded diamond, whatever you want to call it. You almost had it, then you filled it all in :( . You want the long turn to have a good radius to get flow on the back side of the valve. There was a pretty gnarly shadow that would have been fine to epoxy. Another note on epoxy, for Gas you are 100% correct about not having problems, however if you are running Methanol or ethanol blend fuels the epoxy is on a clock. Its not a matter of if but "when". As long as you tell your customers to not run any ethanol blends you are gucci. The vane or sped hump, acts like a truncated airfoil. Your porting is just a just a generation behind. The things I am telling you are hard to learn without a flow bench and a speed probe.
    If I had to speculate on why your method seems to yield a better than stock result, I would say that you still have more to gain in the valve job/unshrouding department. That is your restriction, so It does not matter what you are doing in the runner at the moment. The real way to un shroud is with a serdi, or something like it. Old valve job machines are pretty cheap to pick up and can be adapted to the serdi type tooling. Once that is addressed just blend like you have been doing. Another cheap investment would be a caliper so you can check your port volume all the way down. Yes you are improving the short turn and turbulence by a ton, but there is alot to be gained yet.

      I bought an RMZ450 head that had been ported by factory Yoshimura and it had the exact teardrop shape from the valves that you mentioned. I was wondering why they did that. Thanks for adding some knowledge. 👍

    what epoxy do you use?

    • @trxtech3010
      @trxtech3010  6 месяцев назад +1

      You can use JB Weld just make sure it's very roughed up and able to have something to "grab". Never use a fast setting epoxy or fast setting JB weld.

      @@trxtech3010I listened to a podcast with guy who does motors for Race Tech and they choose to use epoxy over welding to add material as well. Although, he said they use the same epoxy that the US military uses to patch submarines and I haven’t been able to figure out what that stuff is yet. Great video tho! I love seeing how different people do things and why they do it the way they do. Thanks for posting.

    Do you have a phone number? Or Facebook name I could get ahold of you by? I have an 08 450er that’s been to different mechanics and myself. I’ve got it tore down a little now and I’m stuck. The valves and timing have me stumped and I just need 10 minutes off someone’s time that knows what they are doing
