Bold move but I really appreciate them going there and next thing I'm gonna buy will be one of those low keyboard designs
This is a very tough buy as it really is not portable; the upcoming MB Air M2 and the XPS 13 Plus are light and thin when I think of that form factor. I doubt this is a logical choice for portability, ergo it is a desktop replacement. Then it loses the value of that display as I could hook it up to real much bigger monitors. Add in the poor ergonomics and the compromised positions of keyboard and trackpad and then factoring the very high price, I feel that this is really for those with high disposable incomes that probably have alternatives for portability and just throw money at this because they can. I get that when a new and shiny different form-factor reveals itself, there is excitement, but there are very good reasons why the clamshell norrmalised design is the de facto choice for OEMs and customers alike, the maturity of the market has meant laptops have evolved to their optimum design. Good luck if you buy it.

To not have a single USB 4 on there when 6000 AMD supports it natively, is PATHETIC on such an expensive laptop and prevents the use of a thunderbolt docking station when at home and when you may need more ports and external drives. NEXT!
Actually, even 20Gb Type-C will be sufficient enough to satisfy needs for almost all ports, DP 1.4 excluding - which can be connected to second Type-C. Also - Thunderbolt will not work properly with USB4. And even with Intel laptop with Thunderbolt 3 and pricey LaCie dock does not sustain all my needs. USB4 can be compartible with Thunderbolt 4, or it can be not, that's pure luck, cause certification from Intel will not come any time soon - Intel has money on TB4, and USB4 is in direct competition. TB3/4 has a proprietary chip inside, USB4 has none. It can influence nothing, or it can brake everything. You have sample size so miniscule, that it does not matter at all. The chance of breaking anything will be smaller with less complicated docks and stuff, but for them You don't need nor USB4, nor Thunderbolt at all, 10/20 Gbps throughput will be suffient for a lot of stuff. Especially TB3 sound interface - are You sure it will not work with USB 5/10/20 Gbps? Can You test it? Also - 8TB game drive with NVMe SSD? I’ve got to be honest and say any reviewer who disrespects the design of the trackpad on the right is pushing ASUs into the kind of mistake they made hear with this update to the Duo . It’s a worse design than it’s predecessor and is simply an inch larger . Yes sure specs are better , design is worse though . So take heed reviewers and get up to date with the fact that some of use are into trackpads , so much so that we would genuinely like to manipulate it one day as a glass pad with response times and herts frequency , for touch response .

I wish Asus would make something like what Lenovo did for the 9i. Perfect symmetry! I'd get one with at least a 3060. Lenovo just has 16 gigs of ram with a weak graphics card. Nailed the ergs with two full screens. Sure to fit cafe tables. I love my Duo but the size and weight Def make it hard to travel with.

Thanks for this - super helpful.

Does anyone know of both screens are touchscreen or just the bottom one?
Bottom only. Both screens on the Zenbook Pro Duo are touch, but that system is more for productivity.
Where’d you find that ninja turtle game ?
I was either going to get this one or the rog strix scar 16, ended up getting the scar 16 mainly because of the mini led screen is so beautiful. Might pick this one up also just because it opens up a lot of possibilities for multitasking.... Pretty amazing what they're doing with laptops 💯💯
Thank you for your nice review 😊I'm really intrigued about this laptop. I'm not a gamer but a designer and Cinema 4d + Arnold 7 / vray5 needs this power. Probably I would turn off the light of the keyboard 😅... I guess even a gamer could find them a bit annoying after sometime... I wonder if this second screen could become a great help for software like unreal - Mojo - Opentoonz... AutoCAD?... It would be nice to hear the point of view of a designer for this device. Personally I believe nowadays the 'gaming' computer are even better than the workstation with super expensive NVIDIA Quadro... 😀
For designer your looking at the asus zenbook (I've swapped from zenbook to this due to being a gamer)
they should sell 1 of these without the touchpad to give room for a full-size keyboard layout (+ for ppl who like to use a mouse instead of the touchpad)
couldn't you use a second monitor like the "sidetrek" as well as the screenpad?
@@taranagnew436 or the mobile pixels duex max as a secondary screen instead of the duo, then things get complicated. A similarly powered laptop is half the price, then add $300 fora mobile pixels duex screen for dual monitor.

Looks sick ngl, although way out of my budget
This laptop 4k or 1080?
Both actually. It has dual spec panel which you can switch.
Things I don't care about are:
- The weight (If you're buying the latest most powerful beefy laptop including the beefiest GPU, expect it to be heavy
- Webcam (I wish it didn't have a webcam. I don't waste my time on any social media and my phone is for communication, and perfect for a webam)
- Battery (Wouldn't care if it didn't have a battery either. Running this rig on a battery is a joke in itself. Of course it should be plugged into the mains. It's more like a portable desktop than a laptop, and you'd not run ya desktop off a battery aye ;))
Update: underpowered for latest games, screen is terrible with huge blooming issues and mouse pointer trails. Gets loud after time of use and minimal needs table fan.
After purchasing, the price dropped around £700 in multiple places. I guessing they had a lot returned.
Overall = Overpriced Gimmick.
@@greenmonkey.8403 Sent it back already. Main Screen is garbage. Has halo effects and white into dark leaks everywhere. I considered it even faulty until support said its normal. HDR mode on / off its the same, and performance wise I got 14fps in warhammer 2 benchmark XD Doesn't justify half the price tag...
@@greenmonkey.8403 I've gone all in on the upgraded Samsung G9 monitor instead as I got a desktop with the 3090 which should make a nice combo next :) Ima give laptops a chance to catch up and until they can perform at least as good as this desktop, I won't bother anymore. Far too much tinkering and wasting time trying to get mobile stuff to replicate desktops. A Mini ITX case fits a 3090 inside and makes the cloest thing to a portable 3090 desktop all in 1, but ya still need a monitor. Tiffa me up with that Final Fantasy Surround monitor aye :D
@@24yrukdesigner mine is arriving today, I'm excited. I also went all out on the features.
@@TheStrayInu you might be able to live with the blooming, but there is no solution to it and it's BAAAAD. Look at the mouse pointer, and you will have a glowing circle around it over any dark background and always. That circle doesn't move smoothly either :D it moves in incremental trail behind the mouse, so it's SUPER obvious and distracting. Really couldn't continue using the machine after that. Also to note that the same top end laptop version I purchased, dropped £1000 in price in just weeks... I think they know there are problems which are not fixable with their screens.
But I need webcam for online meetings.
They should have just got rid of the crappy trackpad altogether and bundled it with a wireless mouse.

Hey it qualifies by 2003 standards!
Maybe it helps laptop not get heat up under huge stressful games and work
@Can a swallow swallow? Yeah, stop being lazy.
You understand it's power station it's supposed to fo buy apple then
I have same keyboard and same placement touchpad for over 3 ears now on ROG GX 701 and to be honest its so conviniets I don't think I want to go back to old placement. My hands don't have to touch laptop anymore and all the heat is on top so its always cool and comfy. I don't really get why people find that problematic. Bold move but I really appreciate them going there and next thing I'm gonna buy will be one of those low keyboard designs
And people laughed at the Touch Bar 😂 the fudge is that
The 5:10 really bothers me.
What kind of beast is this?
Good luck if you buy it.
you can't take monitors in cafe or in Library tho can you?
@@ViharS7 No, but I really would not want to lumber this around either and if I am doing basic tasks then I would want something much more compact and subtle. I would never do pro work in a cafe or library. They are for catching up on the mundane workload or research.
@@andyH_England it’s not that heavy, and it truly is a 16 inch screen in a 15 inch laptop chassis. I went from a 15 inch razer and I’m questioning the value in that machine after experiencing the Duo 16 (both priced at $3999.99).
Charging, for example, is too slow to be recieved to a laptop. So, that's sad, but not critical, and definitely not a reason to pass on this model.
@@DenBlendaman Yes it will. I have a seagate firecuda dock and a thunderbolt audio interface. Inside the dock I have an 8TB NVME games drive. My audio interface connects to the thunderbolt through. Both work perfectly on a USB 4 port as tested by myself. So. Nope. You are wrong. It is not optional not to have USB4 for me, regardless, Dell don't even include USB 20GB/S. They have 3 gen A ports, that's right, 5GB/S, and one Gen 2 port. Please get your facts inline before trying to spread false information.
@@teddym2808 that's the coin toss. A lot of people had problems with AMD's implementation of CERTIFIED AMD mobos with Thunderbolt 4. I repeat - CERTIFIED, by Intel. And problems with compability were numerous.
You will lose almost nothing with SATAIII M.2, game load times are using only random acces, not sequential. So You're wasting bandwith to nothing. And in case of SATAIII on 6Gbps, well, USB 10 Gbps will be just fine for Your needs.
As I understand, Firecuda does not have any SATA3 docks with SSD, but still - if You'll find any, don't waste money on PCIe.

I have the Intel 1 and it’s even more expensive people don’t believe that anyone would buy a 14 year old a 5500dollar laptop
The screen looks tn panel
