- so I got a few comments asking for this, so here it is. 90% of the screenpad plus is essentially Windows treating it as a second display with some Asus special sauce. Anyway here it is
If you want to stay tabbed into a game while interacting with another display, the game has to be in window borderless mode
There's my main guy
I don't play in window borderless mode. But if you touch the screen, you still have to alt tab back to the game right?
@@consumertechwarehouse It depends on some games, you just need to click the screen for most
@@MrMeisterHD so sometimes it work sometimes it dont? what about on rpg game?
The reason your game keeps minimizing when you touch the lower display. It’s because you have to run the game in windowed mode or windowed borderless. Asus put a bulletin out about that.
I got the AMD Ryzen 9 7945HX Hexadeca-Core-Prozessor 4090 GTX Duo 16 version of this and it is insane. I'm using it for Blender, Unreal 5, zbrush and video editing, and the dual screens makes it a dream machine. I'm basicly making a game with this laptop.
That’s awesome. Hoping to get the 2023 version in shortly
@@consumertechwarehouse HI. What is your advice? Because of your video I am considering Zephyrus Duo 16 (2023) and titan gt77 hx 13v (2023) (the same as MSI GE 67 OLED). Which one will you choose for gaming?
i want to use it for unreal 5, you recommend it?
Lol it's cool seeing it used as a gamemaking machine, rn I'm considering it or the Flow X16 as a "desktop replacement" kind of deal. X16 is more portable, but also has up to a 4070.
Are you using fullscreen or borderless windowed in Cyberpunk? Maybe changing that setting fixes the alt+tab problem? Great vids btw!
I imagine this would be useful if you want to emulate ds, 3ds, and wii u games
Uwu Felt that big brain dude 🤔
2.2k£ for this xD
watching this video from asus zephyrus duo 16, i approve of this video
Jarrods tech tips did a video review on this, he said that there's a bug that limits the CPUs wattage to 25 watts, therefore affecting frame rate in CPU bound games, do you have this problem?
So there's some people including me tracking the issue on Reddit. A firmware came out and decreased the CPU power and GPU power a lot. Asus apparently said they were aware of the issue and was working on a fix. Apparently the firmware only affected some users but not all. I'm really hoping a fix comes out to restore it. When I did my testing, it was running at full power and some of my scores were either matching the RTX 3080 ti get 76 or really close to it.
@@consumertechwarehouse can you link the Reddit article please?
So the main screen is 120 hz refresh rate and the 2nd display is 60 hz. Is that the case with the newer 4080/4090 laptops? Or did they up the refresh rate on the 2nd display for the newer laptops?
On the 2023, the main screen is 240 and 60 on the screenpad. I hope that’s addressed next year
@@consumertechwarehouse it would be nice to see. Was hoping the 4080 I’m about to get would have 120 on 2nd display but that’s the luck of the draw haha its Tyler btw. Good review!
Oh hey. Tyler. We were talking on Reddit. lol.
The nintendo ds kid in me is amazed by this.
What the real world battery life for productivity (emails, web, productivity apps)?
Good since it was AMD. 6 hours with both screens. Even more if you only use one and don’t max out the screen brightness
HI. What is your advice? I am considering Zephyrus Duo 16 (2023) and titan gt77 hx 13v (2023) (the same as MSI GE 67 OLED). Which one will you choose for gaming? Thank you for your video
I haven't used a duo this year but spent a lot of time with last year's. I also just got a titan gt77 and I love it. They are very different machines though in terms of size etc
@@consumertechwarehouse Got it. Thank you very much!
Thanks so much for posting this!!! If you're done with it, you could always sell it to me :)
lol. I sent it back to be replaced. There was coil whine on it. I want to see if coil whine is an issue, if not, then I can sell it if you want at a slightly lower price than I paid
Bought one and when turning on HDR and using the browser, everything would appear very washed out, then the keyboard started flickering. I don’t know if it was just my unit but I returned it and will not be purchasing another.
HDR is broken on laptops and has been for a while. The issue is on every gaming laptop I’ve used. Though the white washed out look only happened in games not in browser
Should I buy this to interact with my OnlyFans chat?
Lol. Actually it'll work great for that. You can keep the chat at the bottom screen
No, you should talk to your father
I wanted this laptop but I keep hearing the mini led has bad whine. Does anyone know if all of them have it? I ordered the Ge67hx instead but can still return.
The mini led whine is there unfortunately. But it'll vary from unit to unit
Try playing valorant using the second screen. I read somewhere that valorant supports second screen…
Thanks for the additional video on this laptop! I have another 2 questions though.
Apparently there are editions of this laptop with a 500 nits IPS instead of the 1100 nits Mini-LED. Do you know anything about that? Is that worth it if the price tag is much lower than the Mini-LED one?
Also, I'm thinking about the Asus Zenbook Pro 14, 2022 edition, but it is not yet available to buy with the 3050Ti they put there. What would you pick between Zephyrus Duo and that Zenbook having just some light gaming in mind, but also portability and productivity? Meaning not really killer titles, maybe only some strategy games. Thanks a lot again!
Maybe the zen book duo might be good for very very light gaming but much better with portability. I did a video comparing the gpu of this laptop with a 3060 and the 3050 ti will perform a good amount less than that. So maybe look up some other videos of someone who tested a laptop with that. Also, the 3060 model had the 1080p screen with 500 nits and it was a great panel. Measured 100% sRGB but only like 79% DCIP3. Still a fantastic display. I personally would rather sacrifice some portability and go with the zephyrs duo, but I'm not traveling much these days, so your use case may be different
@@consumertechwarehouse Thanks a lot! Appreciate your answer!
watching your video with my zephyrus duo 16 😄
Lol main screen or screenpad?
Both😂
LMAO!! Nice!
Imagine emulating Nintendo DS or Wii u games on this beast..
Hey, do you think the issue of interacting with second screen is pulling you out from the game on the primary screen has been fixed through an update? It's literally what stops me from buying it.
I'm not sure. It's a windows issue and only Microsoft can fix it
I'd like to see how you optimized the overall experience from the Duo. I have received mine just today and already found myself tweaking Dolby settings. Disabling AMD turbo boost in the "silent" power preset... And as far as I saw, in windows Asus should automatically set dimming zone to "single zone" in order to display content on a screen evenly bright and contrasting. And when any game would turn on, the dimming zones would switched to multizones. Also I didn't tested MUX switch or "ultimate" (as a new armory crate says )performance toggle, how to properly use it? And last question: did you find a solution to simultaneously have a 4k resolution at the bottom screen and having a proper "scale/size" so I can freely moving my apps between those two screens? Thanks
Kinda pricey to be honest for what we get: paper stand? I would definitely use a proper metallic stand. There is no cover nor bag for not carrying the laptop but for exterior protection(accidental leaks, scratches) and there is no small and cheap screwdriver to open the bottom cover 😅( I was expecting typical screws). Didn't put a stickers and magnet (my 2021 G14 had =_= )
You need to tweak EQ in dolby settings, becuase second screen just covering the speakers in display hinge.. shame.
firstly, do not use that paper stand lol. There's absolutely no grip on the bottom of it, and if something trips over the cable, the entire laptop will slide off your desk. And for the duo I've been keeping all the profiles as default only using the generic silent profile and turbo. I messed around with manual a lot but didn't really get much meaningful performance improvements. And they just updated Armory Crate the day I filmed this video, so I have no experience with it yet. I thought the speakers sounded really good on dynamic, then I brought up the mids a bit with the eq. But for the most part I test as close to stock settings as possible to simulate what Mose people would be using
@@consumertechwarehouse manual profile is good for me if i disable turbo boost, than i able to adjust manual fun curve to keep temps low but have a minimum airflow. On default silent profile bottom of the laptop could heat up a bit (if u use it on your stomach in bed xD)
I gotta ask - what's with all the Edge copies haha
Lol I don't even know anymore. I really need to clean up my desktop
@@consumertechwarehouse Just do what I do - Make a new folder and then drag everything in it. Problem solved haha
Can I, while playing on the main screen, do a live broadcast on two platforms such as Tik Tok and Twitch at the same time on the secondary screen?
that's not something I do and can test. But I think Windows only allows the camera to be used on one app at a time. But for something like that, I would say getting a secondary device like a phone or tablet may be better for that. You lose gaming performance, and if you play in full screen, it takes you out of the game whenever you touch the screen
When you admit it is a windows issue when reviewing a laptop, would you consider the review fair on the device? I think not. The laptop is freat, the OS sucks
The setting button on my duo 16 second screen doesn’t work. The bottom left settings button doesn’t open.
Could you please show and detail the phone integration feature?
It didn’t work well so I cut it out of the video. The Microsoft version link to windows works much better if you’re using an android phone
@@consumertechwarehouse Gotcha. Thanks a ton for the reply!
can you draw with a bluetooth pen like the renaisser ?
Not sure. I heard it supports the Asus pen though. Not able to test that
You can but it has a lot of delay since the touch screen is 60hz, to not have delay while writing yuo must have 120hz which the zenbook duo has
My Zephyr Duo 16 doesn't have a touchpad mode. How did you install it?
My control center disappeared 3 months ago and I can't access the settings of the other screen
Is there a way to work around this?
Not sure. I don't have a duo anymore. Hopefully a commenter can jump in to help. Go on Reddit there's a zephyrus duo subreddit that's really good
Is it possible to play Shadow Of The Tomb Raider in primary screen and using discord at the second screen at the same time?
Sometimes I need help like recently I was playing Marvel Snap and needed some deck building advice. A streamer helped me in discord but it's not convenient alt tabbing every time. It's good that it was only voice chat but I still have to alt tab for ending call at least.
Or while playing a game like Risk: Global Domination I have to send an invite for game in the official discord and the discord needs to stay open till some players join.
Another use case scenario is chatting using XBOX chat in secondary screen while playing on the primary screen.
These were just 3 of the things I do everyday. Unlike other gamers who just play the game, my gaming is very different. Gaming is all about multitasking for me.
I covered this a bit in the few videos I did but kind of but not really. You have to play in windows borderless mode and it's not my favorite way to play. If that stuff matters to you then maybe get an iPad or tablet on the side. A lot of the functionality comes from non gaming tasks unfortunately
@@consumertechwarehouseThanks for the fast reply and picking up the topic regarding the performance issue of secondary screen. I think I will buy MSI GE78HX instead of this and use my Samsung S20 FE 5G with it.
You need an app that will force the game to stay on the top, thats it
how much (performance) loss do u get in games when using the screenpad?
SCREENS
Have you also experienced very bad Wi-Fi performance with this laptop? Some URLs are very slow in loading and others are just fine. When using a other device all Websites are loading well. Is there any setting I'm missing?
I’ve noticed issues with using eero routers. None with my ATT 6e router that was provided by my ISP. Mediatek Wi-Fi cards seem to have more compatibility issues than intel, killer and Qualcomm cards. Maybe try switching it out
Happy new year by the ways, and if I may ask can you make the small screen to be straight while using I mean like this _ not \
Lol I can do that for the 2023 model. I remember putting that one together really fast
Mehh gimmick 🤔! Asus will bring A game next year with RTX 4000 series!
I think an S16 or S17 with this design would be the perfect laptop. Give us a real keyboard and trackpad
I’m getting mine Thursday I am so excited!
Can you extend your display with this? Meaning if I want to use it for web browsing to have a much bigger screen, is it possible?
Yeah. It works just like a second monitor in windows. So you can
does it work well with discord? are you able to see you and yours friends webcams while gaming?
yes
Wow this was an amazing review! Thank you man for all the details :)
Do you know where I can get this laptop? Where did you get yours?
Thanks. It's in stock at Newegg right now
couldn't you run Cyberpunk Windowed borderless mode and it might lose focus but it will still stay on the screen.
Yeah..but I don't like running on borderless mode. I feel like it stutters a bit more and there's a small performance loss
@@consumertechwarehouse thought it was worth a try. I have the same laptop coming I have been dreaming about these since they put the first model out
I think you'll love it. Borderless does work. The only thing is it's still not just the best for gaming. You also lose performance just by having the second screen on. But for everything else it really is the dream laptop
8:10 if the game running at windowed borderless screen will it help ?
It will. That’s a workaround
Nice
Does that second screen support a pen
It does. Either the Asus pen or the Surface Pen
Such a Laptop🔥🙌🙌
Are there games that support the screenpad?
Is there a update that fixes the screenpad closing the game when using the screenpad?
I don’t have the duo anymore. But I’ll be checking out the 2023 model and will update on that
Yup, a deal breaker. This tech is still too new, lack optimization
