- Today we begin the MLB The Show 24 Franchise with the St. Louis Cardinals. The Cards are far from being one of the weakest teams in baseball, but they do have one of the most uncertain future. This is an experienced team and one of the oldest in the MLB. Every starting pitcher is at least 32 years old. The best two position players have over 10 years experience. The Cardinals will have to rebuild this organization regardless of their success in the near future. I'm excited to work on restoring this franchise to a championship standard that they have not seen in the last decade.

Hey Cane, you may want take a look at Pulse pitching instead of classic, seeing how classic seemingly always has "very late" timing. Pulse creates a small timing game similar to hitting and how accurate the pitch is is still largely dependent on the pitcher's control/pitching clutch stat.
Love the Martinez move and Loperfido also mashes. Keep an eye on waivers on the opening day roster cutdowns

Hey Cane, I just wanted to let you know that you need to make sure you have sponsors, I get around 11 million a year with sponsors, and it can really help your budget when you have 35 guys on your 40 man roster, or you’d like to have a couple smaller contracts. Great Video btw.
Cane doesn't use sponsors. Didn't in the A's franchise and likely won't here either.

I wouldnt be so quick to call Masyn Winn's rookie season a waste. +5 to discipline is huge for a guy that doesnt project to ever be a power threat. If he could put up a .320 OBP with great defense, he would be a star.

I always play my franchise with Ignore budgets just so the CPUs don’t try to cheap out on signing people. I just make sure I’m strict on myself with the the budget. Allows for a more realistic experience from the CPUS

Hey Cane, in the future. It can be worth waiting until after the 40 man needs to be set before signing Free Agents. A lot of them will lose that qualified tag and you wont lose a draft pick for signing them. You might lose out on a couple guys but could be worth it for a longer term rebuild.
In the game they got Michael Kopech throwing 95 when IRL he should be throwing 98-99 per baseball savant.
That should be adjusted.

As a Red Sox fan and baseball fanatic I say you should go the early 2000s route for some players on this cards team, keep your mian core pitchers besides the bullpen and keep winn, Walker, LARS, Gorman, Carlson.... They can be your new Wainwright, David Eckstein, Albert, Jim Edmonds, and Scott rolen
I like the Orelvis Martinez move he has had 3 years in a row w 30 hr in the minors I’m surprised they don’t give him a bit more power in the show. His contact needs to get better but has had around a 350obp in aa and aaa so far and this year already 8 hr batting 300 so he’s def on the up and up
This game did Masyn Winn dirty. He's already almost elite level at SS in real life.

Just letting you know Cane, switching Kopech’s position to SP might bump up his overall… a lot. could make for a 5th guy in the rotation this year or a LRP around 70s overall.
What a play by Willy Adames to turn the double play… if not that’s runners on 1st & 2nd with the top of the lineup on deck
solid off-season, wish we could have gotten adames if the idea was to compete, but hopefully we can find a solid contributor at the position on the roster

Signed JD Davis in my White Sox franchise and in his first season he absolutely raked - .308 BA 27 HR and gave good defensive versatility to play 1st, 3rd or LF. Granted he’s really slow for outfield

Im running a Cubs franchise, and man if it doesn't give me A's vibes. I now, after a couple seasons, have Teoscar, Luis Arraez, and Vladdy. Lmaooo
for your pitching i would suggest: For your Starters to be a minimum of 78 stamina, 72 or more control, 82 to 90 velocity, 72 or more break, to keep better control of the wayward pitches decreasing homeruns and increasing the k's per 9, long relief 60 to 75 stamina and same as starters, middle relief 45 to 60 stamina with a bit more velocity to break up the constance in speed, and use higher velocities for your set up pitchers and your closers. Basically you want to bore them to sleep i9n the box all game in the end and then kill them with speed.
I think when making some trades, like Arenado for example, you should take back some bad contracts to make it seem like you're eating some of his salary and thus more attractive of a trade option for the other team. Those bad contracts would likely have to be in a separate trade since 3 players is the max unfortunately
You should look at the free agent list right after arbitration and tender contracts deadlines are up (around december) because a lot of younger solid guys become available who werent offered that fit cheap 2-3 year deals, can fill depth and platoons at the major league level
Being in the middle of tanking or competing makes off seasons interesting having to play everything down the middle. But i think you did well too help the team immediately and keep flexibility for either competing or selling!
Maybe Spring Training and Opening day can be one video combined?

If you're dead set on trading Arenado this year, just keep an eye for injured third basemen on a contender to swing a deal. I think that's your best bet for moving him. Though I think it's a good idea to keep him around since you have practically nothing to replace him with atm.
That’s a good idea! I was able to get a good pitching prospect in mine (Michael McGreevy) for Kenta Maeda because the cardinals had injuries at starting pitcher

Watching the rangers lose the ws at the beginning hurt my heart
I would like to suggest a formula for your team rebuilds. As far as your corner outfielders go look to have atleast 69 speed, 70 fielding , 70 reaction , 65 arm, 65 accuracy and I would consider the same for 3rd base. Centerfield and middle infielders should be 75 speed or higher, 72 fielding, 75 reaction, 68 arm or higher, 70 accuracy. The hitting side of things should be more along the lines of 68 or higher contact and 60 or higher power for corner outfielders and infielders, but vision and discipline above a 55. middle infielders and centerfielder to be 69 contact or higher and 55 power or higher.

Great offseason. I would consider paying Gorman and walker long term so then you don’t have to pay them more money later on. They both have A potential so it would be better to pay them less long term instead of having to pay them both 20-30 million in years to come
He’s listed at 3B but you should’ve gotten Gio Urshela to start at shortstop since he had SS experience from his Yankee days
Also PLEASE keep Matsumoto in A ball and move up Castillo to AA
That batting order is HORRENDOUS. Please actually take time out to fix it to get the best possible lineup. Look at their quirks too

I’d trade arenado for a prospect that similar if you can find one. I don’t think you’ll be winning a World Series during his contract and I think him leaving would be the most realistic.
