- Today we begin the MLB The Show 24 Franchise with the St. Louis Cardinals. The Cards are far from being one of the weakest teams in baseball, but they do have one of the most uncertain future. This is an experienced team and one of the oldest in the MLB. Every starting pitcher is at least 32 years old. The best two position players have over 10 years experience. The Cardinals will have to rebuild this organization regardless of their success in the near future. I'm excited to work on restoring this franchise to a championship standard that they have not seen in the last decade.

So, if a player doesn’t sign with their team and ends up in the next years draft, I would still recommend scouting them because their potential tends to go down in my experience. I’ve had rare occasions where it gets better but I would still recommend scouting so that you don’t just go on name value alone
I had a franchise where the #1 pick didn’t sign and went into next year and I got him and he ended up having 95+ potential.

cane really wanted to test the limits there with the “debut” of tink hence and then got hit with a ball to the spot he said was notoriously difficult. baseball gods, thank you
You can’t assume a double play will happen so it turns into an error and a fielders choice to explain why both the runner and batter are safe. So the runner that should have been out at second, his run is unearned but the batter who reached on the fielders choice will be an earned run
Hey Cane! Hope you see this. I think I now how to fix your player lock Sim problem.
When your in the main menu of franchise mode.
- Go to user settings
- Select Gameplay
- Use the triggers to select through to Misc, so Top left says General & Top right says Misc.
- Player lock Game Flow
- if this is set to Sim to next appearance, than that's why when your guy gets taken out mid inning it auto skips to the end of them game and does not give you the option to stop simulating.
- Set this setting to Show Sim Screen or Watch Full Game.
*Note this setting can be accessed & changed mid game ie... you could change it to Sim to NA for the first 4 innings and then in the 5th set back to Sim screen.
I hope I helped solve this issue your having and not just typing out something you already know lol.

I Tried Mlb franchise for the first-time cause I'm board of madden and all I have to say is DAMN.
It makes you wonder how much better madden would be if they put this much effort into it
It can be a lot at first for sure, but more rewarding because you feel like your accomplishing things

What I’ve been doing for “player lock” with pitchers is only playing when they’re on the mound then quick simming the offense until my pitcher changes
That also lets you still control mound visits and the bullpen. I see no reason to use the actual player lock feature for pitchers.
I would up Matsumoto's velo on his 2 seam to mirror that of his 4 seam. Rare that a guy would have a sinker with a huge velo difference.

I went to see a Springfield game 2 days ago, and Mike Antico, who is in AA in this series, hit a Homerun that helped the Cardinals beat the Tulsa Drillers (LAD AA Affiliate) 7-6, just like the game you played, it involved a score in the 9th then a K ending the game lol
I've yet to see a player of a 4-yr player who is 22 or 23 go into FA, I think they are usually the easiest to sign but that is just speculation given they could essentially disappear instead of going into FA going into FA would make more sense. They SHOULD garner a lot of interest given their FA status but I have no idea. BTW I highly doubt McCutchen would give up his number 22 so Soto could wear it even if McCutchen just left for another team or retired.

You should switch Matsumotos number to 18. In Japan it’s the number for the ace pitcher in the staff.

In regards to Mercer, it’s the same in real life too where if you’re a high school player and you get drafted and don’t sign, you go to college and are eligible in your sophomore year I believe.

Only a few times have I seen a partially scouted unsigned rookie in a year or two back in the pool but his ratings have gone down (due to full scouting). For the most part they seem to keep the raitings. Also if you sign your class or the cpu signs their class but they are over the maximum roster in preseason (i think its 96 players) the last few prospects you drafted/signed end up in the free agent pool.. sometimes you have to player search them to confirm if they are like 47 overall but have A potential.. and eventually they will either be signed by the cpu and you can trade for them or the last two months before the season starts the lower overall free agents seem to be available to sign.
Yeah, before I bring a guy up a pitcher from triple a, I check to see if they have the stamina first because you probably brought up, hence, right after he pitched a game in triple a

What is a small disappointment with players that dont sign and return to the draft is that they dont improve, atleast Mercer didnt. His ranges for potential and overall stayed the same.

So I'm also rebuilding the cardinal the thing with tink hence I've found is his control at least in my franchise he is not very accurate

I don't think a player would be able to come back from a debut as bad as Tink's especially when your own coach and GM sabotaged you.
Started withe the browns but much more prefer this to the NF.

How has Michael McGreevy done for you? He was a top pick of theirs. I actually acquired him in mine while trading Kenta Maeda.
He was doing pretty well but then suffered a season ending injury.
