The fugitive is a movie that I constantly rewatch and tommy lee’s performance has really stood the test of time which makes me think that he totally deserved to win this
It was just Tommy lee jones playing Tommy lee Jones. He did a fine job, but he was nothing special. He was not only nowhere near as good as any of the other nominees (especially Fiennes) but he shouldn’t even have been nominated, Sean Penn should have been nominated instead for Carlitos Way or Val Kilmer in Tombstone.
Nah, Fiennes absolutely deserved it. He resembled Amon Goeth so well that the survivors of Plaszow actually thought it was him, one of them even shook uncontrollably
Tommy Lee Jones beating Ralph Fiennes that year was a joke and a miscarriage of justice. That entire movie was a joke... The Fugitive? Are you kidding me? Lt.Gerard beat Amon Göth???? 😢
I think everyone misunderstood this, okay sure the other nominees were fantastic, but Tommy Lee Jones does something only a few actors do, they make the character so real, Gene Hackman does it to. They don't overact, they just are the part, as if it were real life. Jones acted in The Fugitive just exactly how a Law Enforcement Marshall would have in that situation. Tommy Lee Jones deserved it. Peace!
That was another TOUGH year. I actually met Tommy Lee when he did US Marshall's they filmed 1 block from my house on the South side of Chicago. He was very nice to everyone and even answered our questions. He smiled and talked, very friendly nice guy. He said we are filming the fugitive part 2. Anyway, that was a tough year and DiCaprio was amazing that year too. I wouldn't have been able to vote because I cant decide who did a better job that year. They were all outstanding. Too hard to call in my opinion.
Would you consider yourself to be a good person? How many lies have you told, and what do you call someone who lies? Have you ever stolen something, and what do you call someone who steals? Have you ever taken God’s name in vain (very serious; in Old Testament times, the Jews wouldn’t even say the name of God for fear of blasphemy) - even ‘OMG’? One more: Jesus said whoever looks at a woman to lust after her has already committed adultery in his heart; have you ever looked with lust? Well I’m not judging you - but if you’ve done these things then you’re a liar, thief, blasphemer and adulterer-at-heart; that’s how seriously God takes sin. He is Holy (perfectly good/righteous and separate from sin) which means that H e is perfect in justice - and if He were to judge you by the moral law (we’ve already looked at 4 commandments) would you be innocent or guilty? Heaven or Hell? The answer is hell - the wrath of God upon you for your sin. Is that concerning? But fortunately, God’s will is not that you perish. He wants all men everywhere to be saved. So do you know what He did for us guilty sinners? In self-giving mercy, He sent His Son Jesus Christ. He lived the perfect life that we should have lived - tempted at all points and yet He NEVER sinned. Through His life, being in very nature God, He revealed God to men; but we in our hatred condemned Him to death. On that cross as Jesus suffered, He took on the sin of the world and was judged in our place; receiving God’s wrath. You and I broke God’s law, but Jesus paid the fine. God can justly forgive us. On that cross He died, then He was buried, but 3 days later He was raised from the dead - conquering death and Hell and ushering in The Kingdom of God. He then ascended to the right hand of God the Father (where He came from) now Lord of the living and the dead. God has fixed a date when He will judge the world in righteousness. What you need to do is repent (In humility, acknowledge your sin before God and turn to a relationship with Him) and trust ALONE in Jesus Christ and His work on the cross; and God will grant you the gift of the Holy Spirit. Then be baptised. When you place your trust in Jesus - the Lord and Saviour - these things will happen: 1) God will forgive the sins that you have committed; they were paid for by Jesus at the cross. 2) The perfect life that Jesus lived will be credited to you. He will find you holy and blameless on judgement day (and now), as Christ’s righteousness covers you. 3) You receive a place in Christ’s kingdom as an adopted child of God. God becomes your Father. Eternal life isn’t just about living forever, but a personal relationship with God Himself. That life can start now; The Father will reveal Himself to you if you seek Him. 4) God doesn’t just save you from the penalty of your sin (Hell). He can save you from the power of sin itself. Whoever practices sin is a slave of sin; but when you repent and believe the gospel [WHICH HAS BEEN DESCRIBED] the Holy Spirit comes to dwell in you and sanctify you (working in you to further abandon sin and turn to the will of God). When the end of the age comes, and eternity begins, this work will be brought to completion as you are finally freed from the presence of sin. Jesus offers to take away your sin and to give you His righteousness; you must receive it by faith. Choose this day if you will align with the world, or with Jesus and His kingdom - only His is eternal. ROMANS 10:9 - If you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved
Schindler’s List and The Fugitive are both my fav, Ralph Fiennes was super terrifying, but I agree with the Academy for TLJ, he truly deserved this, his performance was so awesome in that movie
Ralph Fiennes was mesmerizing in Schindler's List. He managed to be absolutely terrifying without going over-the-top. A truly powerful and deep performance. Leonardo DiCaprio was also great in What's Eating Gilbert Grape. He completely disappeared into his role. He's yet to top this amazing performance. And don't get me wrong: I thought Jones did a great job in The Fugivite. However, there were at least two performances that year more deserving an Oscar.
Tommy Lee Jones was good in "The Fugitive", from what I can recall but DiCaprio and Fiennes was absolutely outstanding in their movies in two extremely difficult roles to pull off.
This is a really tough choice. Dicaprio, Jones, and Fiennes all created iconic characters with their roles. In the end, I think Fiennes did the best job acting as Goeth.
Other notable performances that year were by Val Kilmer as Doc Holliday in "Tombstone", Ben Kingsley as Itzhak Stern in "Schindler's List", Sean Penn as David Kleinfeld in "Carlito's Way", and certain actors in "True Romance".
Tommy Lee Jones The fugitive is my favourite movie that you made and you won an Oscar for it Congratulations all the best to you hope you doing well take care
All these comments saying Fiennes and Dicapprio getting robbed... The only one robbed was Val Kilmer who gave a magnificent performance as "Doc" Holliday in Tombstone and not even a nomination.
he got it because in the fugitive the director said tommy would add to the script the scene where he says i dont care that was his idea and that is the most famous quote from that movie
Damn did Val Kilmer got robbed!! His performance in Tombstone was definition of "spectacular". Out of these 5, Fiennes was by far the best and should have won, hands down!!
I was in Poland last year on an expedition to learn about the history of the Holocaust and the 1st day the showed us this movie in the bus and it was the 1st time I saw it and the thing that stuck with me for the next 3 days was Ralph Fiennes performance. it was the 1st time a movie affected me like that. I mean the job he did in that movie was so amazing that he was so terrifying and made Amon Geoth so real. it wasn't easy.
Yes Ralph deserved it but can we talk about how stunningly beautiful Marissa Tomei was here in her 20s? I mean she’s still gorgeous today but wow in her prime, I was drooling lol
And Leo, he convinced thousands of people with such honesty that he was an actor who had a mental disability instead of an actor playing a character with a mental disability. It was his first major film role at only 16 years old too. IMO that category for that year was one of the few in which it could've been anyone's Oscar as they were all so talented in their roles.
nope... just because he didn't play a maniac which is favored with mainstream audiences, Tommy deserved this award... if anything, it is a travesty that Denzel was not nomiated for Philadelphia. Thtat year was a monster class of great performances. Either or deserved to win.
I have seen The Fugitive several times. And even though Tommy Lee Jones was entertaining he was not as good as the rest of the nominees. Also you shouldn't make assumptions about people.
I did. "The Fugitive" is one of my favorite movies and TLJ is fun to watch in it. But in no universe where we're talking about seriously impactful acting should TLJ have beaten Ralph Fiennes.
"I am not really bald...[just] lucky enough to be working." The project in question was the movie "Cobb," (1994) in which Tommy Lee Jones portrayed the baseball player Ty Cobb. The movie takes place mostly in Cobb's golden years, when he went bald, and required some head-shaving on Jones' part.
I'm a huge fan of TLJ, I love him as an actor, but Fiennes was robbed on this one, he gave a mesmerising performance, he managed to truly portray and embody an awful person
I generally agree that it should go to the best performance, but I think in the cases of some people who've contributed so much, they deserve an Oscar.

***** you must've not seen "Schindler's List"
One thing is for sure...the academy didn't see either
did you see his performance in 'Three Burials'
i sweaar if they were all made in different years they would have all won individually. all the nominees deserved oscars. great performance from everyone!!
Tommy lee Jones that Detective role was incredible 🔥 “Go get Him”
The fugitive is a movie that I constantly rewatch and tommy lee’s performance has really stood the test of time which makes me think that he totally deserved to win this
It was just Tommy lee jones playing Tommy lee Jones.
Hello I see happiness all around you , can I please share from it ❤?
Agreed. Just rewatched it.
Tommy Lee Jones beating Ralph Fiennes that year was a joke and a miscarriage of justice. That entire movie was a joke... The Fugitive? Are you kidding me? Lt.Gerard beat Amon Göth???? 😢
0:42 Leo: "And the loosing of the oscars begins!"
Hahahahahah you right
Lol, he's the youngest one here, he doesn't care
Postlethwaite was utterly outstanding in In The Name of the Father. One of the finest actors of all time
Loved him. One of the best actors England has produced. He waa absolutely on par with DDL in ITNOTF.
Dicaprio's performance in that movie was amazing. He should have won.
Ralph Fiennes not winning supporting actor for Schindler's List is a crime.
Yes
Tommy is my all time favorite actor this film was his best
I love TLJ but I also agree with many that Ralph should have gotten this one.....he was scarily convincing......
Fiennes was great, and would've won in many other years.
Ralph Fiennes. That's all I need to say despite my love for Tommy Lee Jones.
God, the Academy...
When you place your trust in Jesus - the Lord and Saviour - these things will happen:
1) God will forgive the sins that you have committed; they were paid for by Jesus at the cross.
What a slap in the face to the other nominies!
This is one of the most stacked supporting actor list I’ve ever seen. A few of those guys would’ve won in other years.
Dicaprio was brilliant. He must be the winner!
Ralph has to won the Oscar. He played Goeth very great.
Leo and Ralph deserve their own Oscars for those roles that year!
TLJ by no means deserved this win over those two actors.
That year,
Leo, Ralph and pete deserved Oscars. Those performances were insane.
Hello Sandra I see happiness all around you , can I please share from it ❤?
@@morrisonnewton236 dude she posted that 9 years ago what are you hoping for here?
With respect to Mr. Jones, there's a reason why most of these comments are about Fiennes being robbed. Because he was, and massively.
Schindler’s List and The Fugitive are both my fav, Ralph Fiennes was super terrifying, but I agree with the Academy for TLJ, he truly deserved this, his performance was so awesome in that movie
Tommy Lee Jones did amazing job in The Fugitive
Aww baby Leo, still to this day by far the best acting performance in his career.
Sadly...
I would say The Wolf of Wall Street is his greatest but this one is amazing as well.
Kunga Sagar the Wolf of Wall Street was more outstanding
The Aviator > The Wolf...
Not true. All his performances are great, not just this one
This was a brilliant lineup. Every one of them was deserving.
Denzel whashington in Philadelphia
@@allnba7057he was consider Leading.
@@harmodiogonzalez5356he was? Hanks would’ve been lead. Dont think you can have two lead nominees from the same movie.
Tommy Lee Jones The fugitive is my favourite movie that you made and you won an Oscar for it
Congratulations all the best to you hope you doing well take care
All these comments saying Fiennes and Dicapprio getting robbed... The only one robbed was Val Kilmer who gave a magnificent performance as "Doc" Holliday in Tombstone and not even a nomination.
Isn't anyone else gonna mention GROUNDHOG DAY (1993), with Bill Murray, got snubbed by the Academy Awards....? :-O
All the Dislikes are coming from every Gas Station, Residence, Warehouse, Farmhouse, Henhouse, Outhouse and Doghouse within a 15 Mile radius
CLASSIC!!!
Why the hell did he win. I feel bad for Ralph Fiennes. Immaculate performance, he should have won
The fact that Ben Kingsley wasn't even nominated is beyond me...
I did feel a bit sorry for Sir Ben. But if he and Raloh had both been nominated they would have split the vote.
he got it because in the fugitive the director said tommy would add to the script the scene where he says i dont care that was his idea and that is the most famous quote from that movie
everyone, Tommy Lee Jones was awesome. end of.
Tommy Lee Jones was amazing!
Val Kilmer deserved it for his role in Tombstone and he wasn't even nominated!
I am a big fan of Tommy Lee jones
And he deserves it.
My choice for me was the standout performance coming from Pete Postlewaite in "In The Name of the Father" with Leonardo a close second.
He finally got the Oscar and he is bold as hell.
Bullshit, should've gone to either Ralph or Leo.
I'm going to watch Ralph's movie again. He is an amazing actor, Leo too.
I don’t know what’s better, winning an Oscar or meeting Marisa Tomei
Fiennes should have gotten the Oscar
Tommy Lee Jones: I don't care!
Damn did Val Kilmer got robbed!! His performance in Tombstone was definition of "spectacular". Out of these 5, Fiennes was by far the best and should have won, hands down!!
Tommy Lee gave one of the best performances of the year. Leo and Ralph gave two of the best performances EVER.
What about John?
Tommy Lee Jones was great. But Ralph Fiennes definitely should have taken the Oscar. For sure.
I disagree with you. TLJ was rightfully the best.
He was a badass in the Fugitive movie, the Jack Bauer of the 90's, no one escapes from him aka Samuel Gerard.
He definitely deserved it!! ;)
Least deserving Oscar ever
He was literally 4th best in that category. Leo, Pete, Ralph performances were all so much better 🤦♂️
the guy from schindler list movie deserved that award damn
Liam Neeson should find the Academy Award judge members and kill them!
Tommy Lee Jones was great in this role, but how did Ralph Fiennes not win that year? His performance was so believable it seemed real.
What a loaded category that year. I would’ve chosen Leo, but any of those guys were deserving.
Yes Ralph deserved it but can we talk about how stunningly beautiful Marissa Tomei was here in her 20s? I mean she’s still gorgeous today but wow in her prime, I was drooling lol
Is of common knowledge that Liam Neeson and Ralph Fiennes were robbed that night
Indeed.
Fiennes more than Neeson IMO, as Tom Hanks was really good in Philadelphia, to me TLJ performance in The Fugitive wasn't anything that special.
NO,Tom Hanks was really good in Philadelphia
And Leo, he convinced thousands of people with such honesty that he was an actor who had a mental disability instead of an actor playing a character with a mental disability. It was his first major film role at only 16 years old too. IMO that category for that year was one of the few in which it could've been anyone's Oscar as they were all so talented in their roles.
nope... just because he didn't play a maniac which is favored with mainstream audiences, Tommy deserved this award... if anything, it is a travesty that Denzel was not nomiated for Philadelphia. Thtat year was a monster class of great performances. Either or deserved to win.
Ben Kingsley deserves the nomination that year as a role of Stern.
Any other actor in the category deserve it more than Jones
Tommy Lee Jones deserved this award, PERIOD.
True
Most of people that are talking here that Fiennes was robbed didnt even see Tommy Lee Jones in The Fugitive...
I have seen The Fugitive several times. And even though Tommy Lee Jones was entertaining he was not as good as the rest of the nominees. Also you shouldn't make assumptions about people.
+Robson1898vascao I saw that movie more than once and Tommy Lee Jones was very good - but not oscar worthy at all.
I did. "The Fugitive" is one of my favorite movies and TLJ is fun to watch in it. But in no universe where we're talking about seriously impactful acting should TLJ have beaten Ralph Fiennes.
This was a really, really competitive category that year.
DiCaprio should've won for What's Eating Gilbert Grape! He was brilliant!
I genuienly think Leo should've won. You know many ppl thought he was actually disabled that's how good he is in the movie !
Tommy lee jones was insanely good in the fugitive
I'm a huge fan of TLJ, I love him as an actor, but Fiennes was robbed on this one, he gave a mesmerising performance, he managed to truly portray and embody an awful person
Ralph Fiennes deserved this award
To think about it, how Ralph Fiennes has still not been given his Oscar yet despite this tragic snub.
Hopefully he at least earns a Lifetime Achievement Oscar before he dies.
@@eamonndeane587 stupid comment- He is 58 and still has to time for a good role
I've Not Seen The Fugitive Yet But I Hear It's a Really Good Thriller Movie Love Tommy Lee Jones All The Way!
You've only had 22 years to watch it! ha.
Anyone who’s saying it shouldn’t have been Tommy Lee Jones, obviously hasn’t seen him in the fugitive.
I generally agree that it should go to the best performance, but I think in the cases of some people who've contributed so much, they deserve an Oscar.
Tommy Lee Jones beat out John Malkovich 😮😮
Tommy’s performance in “The Fugitive” was 👍👍 but John Malkovich in “In The Line of Fire” was 🔥🔥🔥
Tommy Lee Jones best role of he's career and he deserved the Oscar as Sam Gerard
Classic delivery from Tommy Lee Jones, who was not really bald.
What an amazing year for this category. Any of those five would've deserved it.
