  • The common perception in golf is that ladies golf clubs should be played by every female golfer. However, in many cases, female golfers should not be playing ladies golf clubs. This is the case for Emma Carpenter, a University of Minnesota golfer. She plays zero ladies golf clubs in her bag.
    In this video, 2nd Swing's Drew Mahowald joins Emma Carpenter to test the PING GLe 2 clubs against her gamers, which include the Titleist TSi2 driver and Mizuno JPX 921 irons.

    Suggestion: IF Emma doesn’t happen to pursue a professional golf career on tour, 2nd Swing should hire her to be a part of the brand… especially on social media… she is a natural with tons of talent to back it up!! 🙌🙌🙌🙌

    Ladies clubs are all clearly marketed towards beginner golfers. Putting an amateur pro golfer up there that is scoffing about them the whole time doesn't really help the point of the video. I came here looking to get information on what to upgrade my wife's ladies golf set to, not watch some super fit pro golfer complain the whole time.
    What this should be, is explaining what kind of mens' clubs/lofts/shafts ladies should lean towards, from a non-professional golfer's perspective.

    • @2ndswing
      @2ndswing  Год назад +1

      At the end of the day, we first recommend any golfer -- man, woman, beginner, pro, etc get fit for clubs. It's very difficult to get a true recommendation of clubs/shafts that are best for your wife without consulting with a fitter. No, most skilled amateur female golfers would not just walk into a golf store and pick up a women's box set. This was nothing but a fun demonstration to show why club fitting matters, and an extreme example of what can be the result of not getting fit.

      It would have been better to get someone who would have benefitted from Ladies clubs and say why the qualities would help them. This video is great but made it seem like she was complaining about ladies clubs.

  • @christianr4938
    @christianr4938 Год назад +11

    She doesn't have to be so adamant to look down on "ladies clubs". Yes it's appropriate to swing speed and delivery etc. But she's probably in the 0.1% of women that can swing at her speed. 99.9% of women will fit into the profile of these clubs. Just use clubs "designed" for men. Nice girl tho 👀

    Goes to show that getting fit is gender neutral. It all depends on the golfer and his or her swing. Admittedly, men swing faster on average, but good women players should be well fitted just as the men, and it has nothing to do with whether it's a men's or women's club.

    • @mikewigoo2433
      @mikewigoo2433 Год назад

      It only is gender neutral for women like her who crush it like this. Most women will use the ladies clubs.

    Neat to see the difference! My youngest daughter swings slow but hits a natural draw and a driver with a draw bias closed face, like most non adjustable drivers are for women, would send her ball way left. I found her a mint 2007 "womens" TM Burner that had a standard 10.5 degrees of loft and she hits a nice high draw in the fairway.

    “The girls club goes way higher” stats show same height
    “My gamer has way more ball speed” stats show same ball speed
    Commentary clearly forced for the sake of content. Obviously a “game improvement” set of clubs off the rack won’t fit the swing of a girl who swings faster than LGPA tour average
    Quite the stretch on this one fellas

      Totally agree, clearly a stretch and I still don't quite understand the point of this 30 min video. The product is targeted at a certain demographic and D1 golfer is def not the market for this set. Poorly done IMHO.

      Thanks for watching!! At the end of the day, the golf club and golf ball have no idea who is swinging. The equipment simply reacts and performs for a swing, not for a gender. We have this discussion with golfers every day!

    Not just total weight, but another big factor here is swing weight. Off the rack “women’s” clubs probably coming in around C6. Lighter swing weights typically are easier to draw. Strong player like Emma probably gets best dispersion with a swing closer to D1 for irons.

    If a new female golfer is gettin into golf where do you point them to when they don’t want to spend a good chunk of change? Im totally for gettin fit but if they are just learning to swing is that fitting going to do very much of anything?

    This girl can bomb the ball. Her swing speed is really impressive. Women’s clubs I thought were akin to senior clubs. No one with her swing speed would ever fit into such wippy clubs.
    Her accent is amazing as well. I’m guessing she is a native Minnesotan. Outstanding.

    What's funny is all the talk about penitrating ball flight and her irons went higher on ave all numbers very similar and I would argue front to back dispersion is more important with irons obviously not if your hitting 40 yards offline just saying don't knock em u actually hit some great shots probably due to your talent not clubs lol

    When I was going in to my freshman year of college, I got fitted for a new set of clubs through the NCAA Titelist program (was a store in South Dakota). I was absolutely fitted with the wrong set of clubs and my Fall season was awful!! My coach made me sell my clubs after that first season and my parents were not happy. I wish I would’ve known all this back then! 😫 I would’ve made the trip to Second Swing if I would’ve known. Live and Learn 😅

    While she is a beautiful female, that is not your avg female. My wife and daughter are 5 foot 2 and swing around 70mph, these clubs are perfect for them. My 15 year old son is only 5 foot 6 and 117 pounds and he swings 103 mph. If he grows to my height of 6 foot and 180 pounds he will likely swing in the 120s. At 48 years old I max out at 113. The draw and height bias along with lower weight make these clubs perfect for your avg female, but not a chance any LPGA players will play them.
