The look of forgiveness on Jesse's face before he takes off just made me well up inside. After everything, Walt was still able to communicate to Jesse just how important he was to him and Jesse saw that. What a great combination of writing and acting from all involved.
I think the silent acting in this show is by far one of it's best features. Notice how throughout the entire series we never need to hear what's going on inside a characters mind, rather we're shown by little details what they're feeling. I feel like “baby blue” also symbolizes how Walt felt about meth, at the end it was not about money business anymore for him, it was about him being the king of meth, about having the recognition that the one and only Heisenberg was the one that came up with that pure meth. The way that he succeed at the end, getting revenge for Hank, providing money for his family, not only saving Jesse but knowing that he succeeded as a chemist and a teacher for Jesse, since Jesse was making pure meth. And most importantly how he got rid of his enemies at the end, including Lydia. He even defeated cancer at the end, since cancer didn’t get to kill him but his own bullet did. He died knowing that he succeeded.
I think it was a way to prove his capacity and genius mind in chemistry. This was his "F ... You Gretchen and dude" who stole his idea. Walt built a larger empire thanks to his brain. I think this is why he became so obsessed at the end.

Dying is one thing. But knowing you’re in your final minutes of life is a whole other thing I imagine. and I thought that Walt would be sitting there regretting what he did and what it did to his family. But he was smiling. He truly was alive when he was in the lab
@@nameynamename3758bro probably sobbed away in the little shack. After pulling an ultimatum of a final scheme I guess he passed, satisfied by not only still passing a good dose of money to his family, but getting revenge, and most importantly, feeling alive!
This is one of my favourite things about the ending; it wouldn't have felt true to Walt's character if he'd spent his last moments sobbing over his family. He was genuinely sorry for the pain he'd caused them, but he still didn't regret any of it. Instead, he just owned up to his selfishness and then died feeling fulfilled
I said it was as if he felt as Walter White he was helpless: sick, money problems, boss not paying him, family issues etc. But as Heisenberg he was in control. And wasn't worried about anyone harming him because he knew his time was limited.
I have to say as a grown ass man, the tears came when they played Bad Fingers song "Baby Blue" at the end. That band suffered tremendous tragedy, and so it just fit so well....props to Gilligan and crew, have yet to watch another series that even comes close.
At first when I saw Walt and Jesse's final goodbye, I was disappointed that they didn't say anything. But I quickly realized it was absolutely perfect. Nothing can really be said that sums up their last two years together. They just look at each other as if to say, "it's been a helluva run." There's more said in that last look than any words could describe. Just perfect.
Exactly. Those subtle nods they shared spoke more than a thousand words. 0:34 you can see the realisation hitting jesse that walt was moments away from dying and this was the last time they were ever gonna see other. At first his expression was anger, but then it slowly turn into something more.. peaceful. Perhaps forgiveness. Because in the end, they both cared for each other despite everything they've put each other through. This show is nothing short of a once in a lifetime experience
Maybe. It's unreal though. Two guys who've been through so much would've had more words with each other. Even seemingly meaningless comments to each other, especially knowing It's for the last time. Their silence had some dramatic effect, but not really how it would've been.
It mirrors that scene in the first episode where Walt proposed they partner up. This was Walt dissolving their partnership. Jesse needed that before riding off.
They knew each other for 2 years, being honest was never their strong point yet at this very moment, they completely knew what the other guy was thinking.
The way Walt remains calm as he walks around the lab, checking if all the dials are right, the cops approaching in the distance. He knows he’s gonna die at any moment. He’s just taking a final walk down memory lane.
"He dies, surrounded by his true love. Lifeless eyes but his face is an expression of faint satisfaction. Cops appear, but they are too late, he got away."
He got away. What are we left with? The cops, the people, they know the names, they can piece together the events but they won't know the ins and outs. The elements, but not how they work together, the chemistry. Only we, the audience get the whole picture. Only those that watch it all will understand the chemistry of Breaking Bad.
@@rbruceryeKnowing Walt, his ego would be too big to keep being domineered by Satan. He'd probably try some way to overthrow him using chemistry from the afterlife or something

I find this ending so poetic in many ways and I just can't stop loving it. 1. Walter is back where he began, the lab 2. Walter looks at the gas mask and notices how Jesse, even in captivity, had safety as a priority, something Walter tried getting Jesse to do in the first episode 3. Walter finally taught someone something 4. He is back at the place where he felt truly alive, despite his destructive talent. My only criticism was that the build up was too easy. In reality, Walter faced minor difficulties. But, I guess he is a genius after all. He used his knowledge to an advantage. Gosh bless

@@Chris-bf7ro what I meant with minor difficulties is that it didn’t take much for Walter to get rid of the neo nazi gang. Cancer was never brought up but even then, its not that big of a difficulty for the ending
Fun fact: in episode 1 the doctor says Walt has 2 years left to live because his cancer was untreatable. This takes place about 2 years after that first episode. That doctor called it.
Ironically, Walt probably beat cancer fully, he maybe could have even had to live a full life with his wife, son, and daughter if he took Gretchen and Elliot’s money for treatment, but died due on his own terms because of this quest to provide for his family due to his ego, ultimately to a self inflicted wound.

I just love how it looks like he had a slight smile when he died. He was more than ready to face death and accept it, and in his final moments he was a satisfied man. He didnt die as the underachieving pushover he always thought he would. His final thoughts were those of prideful ones, and rightfully so. Even tho it came with heartbreak and loss, he was satisfied with the outcome of his life. He could happily die knowing he left a dent in this world and stopped living in fear and took risk. What an unbelievably good show, and what a perfect ending. It’s not a good ending, but it’s not a bad ending. Walt saves Jesse, Jesse forgives Walt. Towards the end of the show I was already heartbroken because I realized there was no way the two could have a happy ending after everything, but that final nod of respect and forgiveness means so much. The amount of depth and history these characters have is unreal, and that final shot of Walt falling down and dying in the lab is perfect. He tied up all the lose ends, and he won.

Not here to fight you, but please go and watch either the wire or the Sopranos. They are on par or even better than BB to some people. I haven’t decided yet and I’ve watched all of them at least five times.
BIRD’S EYE VIEW: we look straight down on Walt as he tumbles into frame, lying flat on his back on the floor. His eyes stare up at us, lifeless. And yet, his final expression is one of faint satisfaction. We slowly CRANE UP, UP and AWAY from him. Walt shrinks smaller and smaller in frame. POLICE OFFICERS approach him now -- four, six, eight of them. They move in cautiously, their guns aimed. *They’re too late. He got away.*
Actually I never thought of it this wat, really. I was super bummed out that Walter died but in all actuality, in the fashion he did it. It was one of the most badass moves in the entire show.
Interesting part was how they ended Walt and Jesses relationship as it began. In a darkened backyard or driveway near Jesses car. The pilot, his captain cook car. The finale, the El Camino.

And there will never be a better finale in my mind than the one from this series. The way it managed to be such a satisfying conclusion to all of the series while still feeling bittersweet is just wild to me. This series will stick with me for as long as I breathe.
Honestly im 3 episodes away from finishing it. (Been spoiled thats why im here) but i really dont want it to end. I still have el camino and better call saul but its not gonna be the same
Breaking bad is literally one of the only shows that makes me want to become an actor, you can tell that the cast really cared for this show and had an amazing time making it
You can tell Jesse still had a lot of respect for Walt. Even after everything they went through. Walt did set Jesse free twice here. From Jacks gang and that subtle nod signaling that their partnership is over. Jesse needed that to go and live his own life.
From the way I look at it the series emphasizes if you want to see who a man really is give him power.. and when walter had a taste of power he started to realize his potential. And the show asks us two questions. What makes a man bad? His ambitions or the decisions he makes? In the end Walter was so driven by his ambitions that he lost sight of what he claimed he was doing it for (his family) towards the end consumed with his newfound wealth. It costed him something far more valuable. His family.
That look Walter and Jessie give each other at the end really shows how thankful Jessie is about mr white even though he thinks Walt only wants him because he’s helping him. It makes me sad they couldn’t end with both of them appreciating each other but Walt definitely shows he’s proud of Jessie when he taps the meters and baby blue starts playing almost for sure that song represents the time Walter and Jessie spent together throughout their relationship from more than just cooking together like in 5 days
Not only did he save jesse, he bought him enough time making the cops thinking its his lab. Even if he is Unredeemble. His last day he was honest but still dont forget he poisoned brock dont get to feely.
Who fucking cares. In the world of drugs, giving a kid a small amount of poison to make sure you don't die to more evil people isn't that bad. Gus had no issue killing kids
I’m rewatching the show now and just finished“four days” from the second season. First time I watched this show was in 2020. I loved it right away. Walt achieved his goals in the end. His family is set for life, he finally taught Jesse chemistry seeing how Jesse knows how to make pure meth now, all his enemies and rivals are dead, and he’ll be remembered as the greatest American kingpin.
surprised nobody mentioned this but walter sacrificed himself for jesse. he perfectly calculated where he would need to be to kill everyone in that room and survive but when he saw jesse he decided to save him of course at the expense of himself. the song baby blue can even be interpreted as a message to jesse and of course his blue sky “kept you waiting there too long my love”

i never really cried during movies or shows, even if it's really sad and emotional. but yesterday i finished this and cried like a little baby and even now when i'm rewatching this final scene i got tears in my eyes. what a journey it was and perfect ending. masterpiece
The final scene is amazing it shows a man who is content. He did everything he had to do. He got the money to his kids, killed the nazis that killed hank, freed jessie and admitted to his wife that he did everything cause he liked it. In the end walt lost everything friends, family, kids but he felt alive, he felt like he was the best at something and if we could ask walt if he would do it all over again i bet he would without hesitating he felt alive and that mattered more to him.
I just finished the series tonight. My first time watching it. What a gem. I feel sad it's over. But I'm so glad I got to experience it. Amazing job people.
When I watched Breaking Bad, I was about 15 years old. Now I'm 25 and I decided to watch this TV show again. It seems like you meet an old friend whom you just haven't seen for a long time. And you know, even after many years, I can say that this series is an absolute masterpiece, has always been and will be.
Never watched a single episode, my brother was a huge fan. I've watched this ending clip a few times. I asked him " was Breaking Bad really that good"? He just said " yes"
I remember the first time I watched this show it was the marathon leading up to the series finale. I was and still am blown away with how great of a show it was, I was on the edge of my seat every episode. I can only imagine the torture it must have been to have to wait a week to see the next episode or months for the next season. so many shows seem to mess up the ending but they did the ending perfectly here.
Ten years later, and I still reflect upon the series, and especially upon this final episode and scene, as one of the most satisfying in which I have ever invested my viewing time! So many "serials" from my younger years such as "The Guns of Will Sonnet" and "Shenandoah" were, frustratingly, cancelled and never resolved to this viewer's satisfaction. I nearly avoided, despite the praise I was hearing, investing my time in watching "Breaking Bad." I am so glad that I caved to temptation after retirement! Thank you, Vince Gilligan, for a thoroughly engaging story-line well concluded!
This entire show, from start to finish, is just perfection. A masterpiece in screenwriting. One of the few shows that I think doesn’t have a bad or irrelevant season. Every episode mattered and they didn’t draw the show out unnecessarily. Vince Gilligan had a story to tell and he told it, and ended the series on a high note. BB is no doubt one of the greatest television shows ever made.
I've watched this series from start to finish 7-9 times, and it is objectively the best, most engrossing, most enveloping, TV show I've ever seen. The fact that it doesn't LOSE appeal watch on watch, 10 years on, but instead GAINS anticipation for the big moments (Killing 8 ball, Tuco/Walt explosion, I am the one who knocks, Say my name, He already made his mind up, my baby blue, etc etc etc) is a testament to just how excellent the writing/pacing of the show was. I'll nail my colours to the mast right now, and say we'll never see a better show.
I always imagined Walter's Death a bit different. Walter entered the laboratory and before falling down, he saw maybe a document or some stuff inside that shows that the meth made by Jeese was 99.8 purity. By seeing this, not Just realizing that he was a good teacher, but also realizing that his product made history (In a good or bad way Just depends on everybody's Perspective), and at this exact moment 2:57 exclaims: "Mmm... Not so bad" being this his final words before falling down and die. This is not Just an allution to the show's name, Breaking Bad, but also realizing that HE made history (In a good or bad way Just depends on everybody's Perspective), having at the same time a Last moment of satisfaction, thinking that all his life, his legacy as Heinsenberg, and his history was Just "not so bad". Bravo Vince!
He definitely got the kinda victory he deserved. His final fate was going to be death anyways but he ended up leaving money for his family. He cleared his family's name by giving the location of the dead bodies. Plus most importantly he got the recognition and attention he deserved even if that was the wrong one. The only thing that went wrong was the death of Hank.
@@therock3640 I don't think that's necessarily true. Obviously he didn't love Hank quite as much as his immediate family but he still seemed to care about him quite a lot. There's a video somewhere, set before the events BrBa. It shows there I think
One of the hardest things for any show to do is successfully stick the landing, Vince Gilligan will always have my utmost praise for pulling off such a perfect ending where so many others failed.

I think it was a way to prove his capacity and genius mind in chemistry. This was his "F ... You Gretchen and dude" who stole his idea. Walt built a larger empire thanks to his brain. I think this is why he became so obsessed at the end.
Walt got mad when Skinny and Badger confirmed that the Blue was being sold on the streets. Proprietary

Dying is one thing. But knowing you’re in your final minutes of life is a whole other thing I imagine. and I thought that Walt would be sitting there regretting what he did and what it did to his family. But he was smiling. He truly was alive when he was in the lab

@@JLBribiesca Sauls ending was all wrong but the rest of the series was great
At first when I saw Walt and Jesse's final goodbye, I was disappointed that they didn't say anything.
What a perfect comment.
Like Beckett did in At World's End
"He dies, surrounded by his true love. Lifeless eyes but his face is an expression of faint satisfaction. Cops appear, but they are too late, he got away."
He got away. What are we left with? The cops, the people, they know the names, they can piece together the events but they won't know the ins and outs. The elements, but not how they work together, the chemistry. Only we, the audience get the whole picture. Only those that watch it all will understand the chemistry of Breaking Bad.

3. Walter finally taught someone something
4. He is back at the place where he felt truly alive, despite his destructive talent.
My only criticism was that the build up was too easy. In reality, Walter faced minor difficulties. But, I guess he is a genius after all. He used his knowledge to an advantage. Gosh bless

Cancer and drug cartels are “minor difficulties”

I love that memorable theme!
You can tell Jesse still had a lot of respect for Walt. Even after everything they went through. Walt did set Jesse free twice here. From Jacks gang and that subtle nod signaling that their partnership is over. Jesse needed that to go and live his own life.
The last scene really tells you that chemistry is Walt's first and last love. It's magical.

I’m rewatching the show now and just finished“four days” from the second season. First time I watched this show was in 2020. I loved it right away. Walt achieved his goals in the end. His family is set for life, he finally taught Jesse chemistry seeing how Jesse knows how to make pure meth now, all his enemies and rivals are dead, and he’ll be remembered as the greatest American kingpin.
surprised nobody mentioned this but walter sacrificed himself for jesse. he perfectly calculated where he would need to be to kill everyone in that room and survive but when he saw jesse he decided to save him of course at the expense of himself. the song baby blue can even be interpreted as a message to jesse and of course his blue sky

I nearly avoided, despite the praise I was hearing, investing my time in watching "Breaking Bad."

This entire show, from start to finish, is just perfection. A masterpiece in screenwriting. One of the few shows that I think doesn’t have a bad or irrelevant season. I've watched this series from start to finish 7-9 times, and it is objectively the best, most engrossing, most enveloping, TV show I've ever seen. I always imagined Walter's Death a bit different. Walter entered the laboratory and before falling down, he saw maybe a document or some stuff inside that shows that the meth made by Jeese was 99.8 purity.
