PSA: We have never allowed paid sponsorships on our channel. We have also never allowed the device manufactures of the products we cover to pay us for production or release of any of our videos. Everything we've said in this video as always was completely in our own words covering our actual experiences using the device. I'll also say this: Comparing an officially licensed product against a pirated device like the Pandora's Box isn't fair to Arcade 1up or Capcom. We've covered products like the Pandora's Box on our show before and have always been consistently unimpressed with their performance.
How can you say this is better then owning a real arcade cabinet then ? Do you own an official Street Fighter 2 Arcade Cabinet to make that comparison?
We never include prices in our reviews because prices range from retailer to retailer. If after a few months the price gets discounted our review will be inaccurate. We always link the manufacturer or store we bought or received a product from in the description. In this case check out Arcade1up's website (listed in the description) for an updated list of places that sell them and current prices.
I didn't say it was better for everyone, I said it was personally better for myself. I love the original arcade cabinet and would REALLY like to own one. However I live in a smaller house with a narrow entranceway and small doorframe. There is no possible way for me to move it into our house. In addition to that the cost of an original cabinet (as of this reply) can be three or five times as much as the Arcade 1up model. The price ranges due to the condition of the units being sold. As an added perk you're getting three licensed games straight from Capcom instead of the typical one version from an official cabinet. This is an official Street Fighter product and not a custom build with stolen ROMs in it. I've managed free to play arcades at conventions and have worked with owners directly. I also have friends who own multiple arcade cabinets. Two of them own Street Fighter cabs and I've played them a bunch. I've helped them move the systems, repair them and clean them. I know exactly what goes into owning original Arcade machines and it's not a cheap prospect. I had to help with a screen that died on one of them and finding a non burnt image CRT was a challenge. Owning the original machines can be fun and rewarding but it can also be challenging and difficult. Arcade 1up machines are easier to own in every respect.

When you mentioned that it had the original cabinet art, I had to wonder: "Oh yeah? Well did they misspell Balrog as Barlog?!?" And sure enough, they did!
Being officially licensed by Capcom has nothing to do with the quality. Capcom officially licensed games on the Retrobit Generations and gamers would tend to agree that they were awful conversions. But it does seem like these arcade cabinets do a great job nonetheless. Personally I'd love the Rampage/gauntlet cabinet.
I want one of those cabinets you can put in a desk and has retropi so you can load every arcade (and console) game onto it. They look so cool. Probably cheaper to just buy an arcade controller and play on the PC though
I think it's pretty amazing that this kind of thing is releasing these days. There are so many great arcade games that just can't be played legally anymore. At least not without spending a fortune on a cabinet, if you can even find the one you're looking for. Streetfighter isn't really my thing, but i'll definitely be seeing what else they have on offer! On my bucket list, for years i've had the project of building myself a full size arcade cabinet, for mame. I'll probably get it done at some point. For now i just have one of those fight sticks that is filled with games. But really, one of these might be a great idea! Most of all, to support the idea of arcade games being rereleased in some format. I love the prospect of that!
Sigh.. Do you really think, that if i was concerned about that, that i would have one of those arcade sticks full of games, or that i would wan't to build myself a MAME cabinet? Geez... No, but what i WOULD like, is to support the developers of the games that i like, by actually buying them and owning them. You know, you're allowed to think, before you write a comment on the internet. :) Also, how do you know that it's a piece of junk? Are you familiar with the build quality? Do you have one? Have you tried one? Have you even seen one IRL? What is laughable, is when people talk crap about stuff that they really don't know anything about.
I mentioned it because as a game collector, i would like to be able to actually own these games legally. I'm not concerned about having ROMs. I even built myself a PC inside an old NES, mainly for the purpose of emulating my sizeable retro video game collection, which is unfortunately packed away in storage, due to space constraints. I need my retro gaming fix. I just like to support the developers of my favorite games, and i like to own the games i play. Again, as a collector, i rarely sell anything, and selling illegal ROMs is just about the most stupid thing anyone could do. That is the sort of stuff that ruins the fun for the rest of us. But either way, i don't really care what you think. :) I think this conversation has run its course.
I like the concept, although I don't know whether I like the mini standup design vs a bartop or a full-size cabinet. That said, I would probably end up throwing in a Raspberry Pi or something and turning it into a full-blown emulation station if I bought one. There's always that balance between cost, effort, and the quality of the results that make an item like this "almost" appealing as an alternative to building a cabinet from scratch or buying a pre-cut wood kit.
I really enjoy mine too. Added a raspberry pi only keeping the screen and frame.. the size and screen are perfect! I couldn’t have built one for less with artwork and had it turn out as well. Haters need to keep it in to perspective.
Here are the cabinets i want to see from them: Bucky O'Hare TMNT Turtles in Time After Burner Mortal Kombats 1, 2, and Ultimate MK 3! (make it look like the original Mortal Kombat Arcade Machine!) Space Harrier Outrun Hang On Street Fighter Alpha 1, 2, and 3! and the two Dungeons and Dragons arcade game!
6:22 "Neither of these things really bugged me that much" Nice pun there! xD In all honesty I'm disappointed that there is no crt filter option since the whole idea it to replicate the feel of an arcade cab. But I guess I'm in the minority as I know a lot of people prefer crisp blocky pixels anyway xD
Perfect Review. I did bought this street fighter arcade 1up. Also arcade 1up is providing panel shileds free of charge thru their website. I cant wait to pimped this Badboy into an arcade dream come true with pandora. Thanks so much for this amazing review
dynamickirby the galaga machine should have had Ms Pacman also, considering that combo is one of the most popular arcade machine combos of all time. Total missed opportunity. It is galaga and the meh galaxian instead, weak.
So sorry to be confusing. Not talking about the game, was talking about the Video quality of the YT video because it was only available at 360p because I watched it so early after he uploaded.
This review was what got me to pull the trigger on buying one of these. I absolutely love it, and I've always appreciated the way Rerez reviews talk about the quirks of systems, especially clones and knock offs.
Final Fight would be nice, except they only made two arcade games to it, with that being the first, and Final Fight: Revenge for the Sega Titan arcade system. But I assume they could always add other Capcom beat em up games to round things out though. A Golden Axe cab, with Revenge Of Death Adder included would also be nice, considering that game never got a console port for that matter either.
Thanks for the detailed review! Job well done. After hearing those buttons and joystick click, my heart was filled with nostalgia. I preordered two cabinets and can’t wait.
I played it at EVO. There was some noticable input lag, nothing super crazy but it did prevent me from landing combos that I normally would on the CPS & CPS2 versions (even SF 30th Anniversary Collection is better). The sticks arent lined up correctly too. They are lined up with the punch buttons instead of being lined up between the punch and kick buttons. Also the buttons are trash. They feel nothing like original Happ concave buttons in terms of tension and are actually more stiff or harder to push. I wonder what under the panel looks like and if you can mod the buttons out with at least some Happ convex competition buttons. Still the input lag was too much for me to even care about buying 1 just to mod it.
It's a shame the game doesn't allow you to get into the ROM menu, so you can change the difficulty level. Also being officially licenced doesn't mean the quality is going to be better, it will be down to the hardware used and the emulator, and even the version of the ROM used.
One of the easiest and most cost effective arcade1up cabinets to do would be a red SNK NEO GEO MVS cabinet. You dont have to do just one either. They could release collection cabinets, ie you could do a metal slug cabinet, kof cabinet, fatal fury cabinet, samurai shodown (spirits) cabinet, aero fighters cabinet, etc. If you really want to grab the SNK fan's attention, create one called "SNK ARCADE CLASSICS VOL 2," and put about 20 legendary mvs games on there
In my opinion the draw here is the light weight and the snap together Ikea style construction making it possible to sell these at a reasonable $300-$400. I just don't understand why they don't just have some full scale versions for the people that want them. What would it add? Maybe 20 pounds heavier? Hopefully if they sell well enough they will consider some other size options. I see they sell a stand to add height but Im sure that still won't make them look quite right due to the width and depth being wrong. I guess I will wait and see what else gets released from here on out, from this company or maybe another. I also would like to see cabinets with even more game options per unit.
Thanks so much for your continued honesty in these videos! I saw the shimmering before you mentioned it because I'm really sensitive to that stuff and would've been super disappointed
Such an odd choice to have Vanilla Super. Shoulda been Hyper Fighting alongside Champ and Super Turbo, then it would be the perfect 3 game SF2 collection.
Hardcore Report Apparently the higher-ups at Capcom didn't (and still don't) like vanilla Turbo and the additions/changes made to it, and they only made Super Turbo /X: Grandmaster Challenge (see how they even refuse to use the Turbo name in the JP release?) because of Western fans' demand for a speedier version of Super, so...
I mean, I don't particularly like HF either, I definitely prefer ST and CE, but no one cares about Vanilla Super. HF, on the other hand, has a huge fan base.
Couple of things I would have liked to seen. 1: marquee light 2: coin door with red coin lights (even if its fake) 3. Use bat style joysticks for fighting games.
There's a Mortal Kombat machine coming out in Europe, and Arcade 1up has another cabinet coming out with Midway games, so I'd say a dedicated MK cab is very likely.
other than the lack of an ability to fake the CRT curvature & adding games; this looks like a fantastic product also i appreciate that they got permissions to put all the official roms & such
Just ordered 2 machines and 4 risers from Walmart. Getting Galaga and Rampage. The extra 2 risers are for when they finally release Final Fight in the Spring and the rumored Konami beat em up machine or possibly the rumored Sega machine... My small kids will love something they can just jump right into and I can play with them with something I actually enjoy doing as well.
Right >.> that's why everybody is doing it and these arent selling because building one from scratch is just so much easier and cheaper. And everybody has amazing cutting and painting skills to re-create the original cabinets too. Because lol buying an old empty/dead cab is usually $300 and not available to everyone. Your gonna spend $300 on just a monitor, raspberry pi/PC, and controls bud. That's not even considering the cost of tools and wood to build the cabinet.
These aren`t for me either as a custom gaming builder what we can make is a lot better, however I spent a lot of time effort and money learning how to do that, most will not be able or want to do that and so this sort of thing at it`s price point is fine for folks in general. The only real negative being the lack of scanline emulation as retro games look awful on digital screens without that
Since each cab runs a custom emulator for each rom set, you will most likely only be able to dump other CPS2 and CPS1 roms into it. That is still a decent list of games, though. At some point they will sell a shell cab with no logic board for about half the price and thats where the real fun begins. Then we can stick whatever we want it
Ya I agree with everything you said, it's just building one from scratch takes a lot of man hours and waiting of delivery, especially for the decals. I just like the idea of one being built for a decent price.
Omg thats perfect. TAKE MY MONEY!!!!!! ah my complaint is it lacks original SFII..... Turbo is the only way to play the super SFII because of super moves and combos. I hope mortal.kombat and turtles does this too, 1943, robocop and some atari.
i been reading it is only mono sound as stereo would would up the price but still good nonetheless and if you plan on playing it at night even on low prob have to cover the speakers
BIGGIEDEVIL yea its only mono there is another review up on there official webpage on Facebook and that’s what the guy said and that’s what 1up also said on there page
I think the game selection is a little goofy. Super and Super Turbo? I don't get it. I think they should have gone with World Warrior, Hyper Fighting, and Super Turbo.
I built my own full size neo geo mvs replica completely from scratch. Only differance is that I made it BETTER than the real one! Heck, even the coin slot is from.scratch! I used plywood that I got from the home depot and a big crt tv from the thrift store. I bought the speakers and controls from ebay. I then soldered 2 dreamcast controllers, 2 saturn controllers, and 2 ps2 controllers to the arcade joysticks and buttons. This allows me to play ANY game on ANY system! If there's another system I want it to support, there is a ps2 controller converter for just about every system out there, and there cheap too. Every other homemade arcade machine only allows you to play games using stupid emulators, but mine uses REAL HARDWARE and supports ALL SYSTEMS! I can play everything from ms pac man to street fighter V on my arcade machine. NOTHING is like it! And I mean NOTHING!
One quick question? How tall are you? In comparison to the cab, it seems short even with the riser. I might have to make my own riser since it seems like its still shorter than standard size cabs
tony lusardi in that case, i would def have to build my own riser. Looks way too low even with that riser. Im 6ft tall, and if this guy is like 5’6 or something, then it is really short
Very cool, would like to see the display light up at the top just like the original arcade machines. Also needed is a headphone input, HDMI out, ability to change the screen display and some tinkering with the game play etc. I spent many enjoyable hours playing arcade cabinets when I was a kid back in the 70s and onwards. I'm still a gamer at heart and get my old school kicks playing MAME. I have been thinking about picking up one of these arcade cabinets or something similar ;)
2 big questions- #1. High score saves after shut off? #2. I don’t know how long the screen is expected to last, but if you leave it on all day like in an arcade and it goes out, will they make replacement screens available ?
My guess here. #1 would either be "no", or "yes if you soft shut down the game first then unplug the power". #2 likely won't be a problem at all, as I've seen Jubeat arcade here in China (the series in China was ended in 2012 I think, and in 2014 the online function was shut down) that are in great shape (except the buttons) even nowadays and thus if this thing dies (would probably take 5 years or so) you might even have to ask if the company is still around... But if it dies before the company disappears you likely can ask for a replacement screen, as they need to prepare some spare buttons and joysticks anyway (those likely won't last long), so why not also prepare some spare screen.
Cool! Thanks for the replies! However I'm thinking beyond 1 year, say, like, 10 years + down the line. Soooooo, will replacement screens be available for purchase for those of us who are in it for the long haul? (Otherwise we have the same issue asthe originals with the CRT's and we all know displays today aren't built to last 40 years like CRT's did.)
High scores are not saved, I emailed the company about this. Also no way of adjusting dip switches (difficulty settings). I laugh at people mentioning screen maintenance cost of other cabinet types. Old arcades can be converted to HDMI or VGA and those monitors can be replaced if broken. I don't see arcade 1up having individual replacement monitors for sale, if they even exist a few years from now, not to mention the cpu inside. Buy with caution.
Arcade Player/Arcade Stick Tinkerer first impressions: My local arcade had one of these. The buttons have microswitches but they feel kinda weird to me. Cheap chinese stuff. Like its microswitch but feels spongey at the same time. they dont feel as snappy and quick as Happ/iL buttons or responsive to the touch as Japanese buttons. A weird inbetween I've found in many knockoff chinese buttons. with both American Style and japanese style buttons, you can kinda slap your fingers down and easily activate them. while these a have a lil more resistance than need be. Trying to press and activate all punches or kicks for Zangeif could be difficult to do, trying to activate all the 3 buttons at the same time. tho throwing hadoukens and shoryus wasnt really a problem. they're usable and I think they're serviceable for people who arent playing arcades as much and you're just having fun with it but if you go in a lil harder and have a real feel for arcade parts, I have no doubts you'd wanna replace them. the sticks are ok(they feel like zippy joysticks, kinda a step below sanwa/seimitsu but useable). imo for someone like me this would be a get i could swap the sticks and buttons out (dont know how hard it would be without looking inside). but the inclusion of only 1 version of SFII that is inferior to Turbo Hyper Fighting (this version had better speed and the extra moves that would appear there on into the series) and regular Super (seriously why. no one really plays regular super, they play more Vanilla Turbo on Snes than Super -_-) means I probably wont be getting it. I like Super Turbo but the difficulty and announcer (dont forget Guiles "SAWNICK BUWM~" in that version) just make me not wanna play it as much as Turbo Hyper Fighting which I, and im sure many others, feel is the peak of SFII's early years. and its a shame its not here when it could've been so easy for them to do.
Those joysticks are not original to this game… Street Fighter uses bat-top Happ joysticks unless it’s a japan release which uses ball-top sanwa… and from hearing the clicky-ness and seeing how loose they are it looks like these are cheap Zippy style joysticks.
I played the crap out of the original machine back in the 90s and I don’t recall it sounding so “clicky” also the bat tops are way nicer than those crappy ball tops. I’m glad someone else is talking about this difference. It’s pretty important considering it’s how you interface with the game. The ball tops hurt the nostalgia for me. Not a deal breaker but disappointing
TheGamingHoser Not a bad thing they being clicky. I'd hate play an retro arcade game with those pro fight sticks buttons which get pressed by your finger's weight alone.
Excellent review. Still disappointed it only has a Mono speaker, and that there's no way to change the difficult settings of the games. The arcade version of Street Fighter II CE at least had "easy", "medium" and "hard" settings available via the dip switches. Arcade1up should have implemented an on-screen option, to be able to change those same settings.
If the shaft itself is the same diameter as a sanwa joystick then you can add a bat top to it. Question really is, are they using cherry switches or are they using those abdominal zippy switches.
"Officially licensed games" doesn't mean there any good This has been going on for a long time. Don't forget Capcom has licensed games to various platforms including Tiger Handheld games and there junk 👎 Another not so hot recent example would be the Retrocade
he never mentions the price of any product he reviews...i have no idea why. He's like "Its way cheaper than buying an arcade cabinet" but doesnt say how much lol.
I mean if you are typing this message it means you have access to internet ... so just ... you know ... make a quick search ... took me less then 10 second to find out that its arround 300 (299)
The screen looking weird at times is called screen tearing and it is because of using a jamma game on an lcd screen. Funny how it uses the start button to go back to the main menu. Anybody here ever heard of Pandora's Box? Same concept except pb has 500 games in it. Including these sf 2 games.
1. There are so many Pandora Box ripoffs that you can't even tell which one is the real. Things like Pandora 5s, Pandora 8X, Pandora 3D, etc. are all over the place, with some good and most of the others shitty. 2. Even the "good ones" have trouble emulating some games. 3. I dunno how it goes in your area but in China, Pandora Box based arcade cabs are massively used in commercial video arcades.
I'm well aware of what screen tearing is. That's not what is happening with this system. Shimmering is a scaling issue with lower resolution images composed of pixels being redrawn on higher resolution screens and not matching up. The other visual issue I mentioned was a single line of pixels at the top of the screen being delayed which is also not screen tearing as it remained consistent throughout play. You're welcome to check out our other reviews on the channel where we have looked at Pandora's Box hardware. Yes, you're getting 500 games but they're pirated and illegal. The emulation quality for all the games is completely random and unreliable. Arcade 1up worked with Capcom and got the rights to feature and use these games. That is a BIG difference.
Quantic A.I. I've had Pandora's box 3 pb 4 and pb 4s. The real ones are the ones that look like a small PlayStation 4. The others are cheap knockoffs. Another way you can tell the knockoffs is when you connect them to a jamma arcade there will be static on the screen, because Chinese jamma is wired differently then normal Jamma. Out of all the 500+ games on there, the capcom and neo geo games ran the best. Especially the street fighter games. All I'm saying is if you own an arcade cab and are into sf 2 and neo geo, then i highly recommend pandoras box 4s+.
Do real ones got a venting fan on them ? Thanks for your information. I am considering buying a Pandora Box board and assemble a little mini arcade machine or so.
It's true to its design lol. Arcade cabinets were made from the same cheap particle board with a vinyl/sticker on the wood as a "paint job" I dont get how people think Old Arcade cabinets were this massive work of art that used the best wood available lol because they didnt. They were made as cheap as possible in their day. You get either this little dinky cabinet or an original hulking cabinet wet, they both will be ruined because they both used Particle Board in their construction.
@@Solmangrundy I would have to assume that they're sturdier than that, because otherwise pretty much every cabinet in America would be damaged. Think about the types of places where arcade games are located: laundromats, movie theaters, bars, Chuck E Cheeses, theme parks, bowling alleys, arcades that also sell food and drink, etc. All of those places are inhabited by mostly young people and allow liquids to get up close to these things. I wouldn't be surprised if someone accidentally kicked one or spilled their drink on one at least once a month.
These things are being advertised EVERYWHERE! I'm not complaining though, it just makes me wanna pull some money from savings and buy one. I think I'll wait till a TMNT arcade cabinet comes out though.
This isn't for people like us, it is for those of greater fortune and wealth that can afford to spend coin without the use of any intellect or knowledge of a possibly superior method or option. It's for lazy gamers. Not everyone cares to learn about emulation and whatnot.
Cool, but this is more for a home decoration and you can just hop and and play anytime. Don't have to worry about booting up a PC and configuring it for everygame. I'm sure your PC looks cool and all, but it's not an arcade machine
Wow, how smug. For a lot of people, there's a lot more to a game than just the 1s and 0s, you know what I mean? Emulation is like diet soda. It's pretty close to the real thing, and it's good enough most of the time. But every now and again you want a full-sugar root beer float.
Great cabinet! I can already see a pc installed inside with hyperspin/rocketlauncher running all MAME-games /w perfect scanlines. Even if I have to replace the sticks and buttons, it is going to be awesome and well worth it!
Christopher Gaizat Figured. Considering it'll need more power than the other games these things have, it may only be able to have only that or maybe just one other game.
I love the smaller size. Since I was a kid I wanted an arcade cabinet, however, I never had (and still don't) the space for it (the six-person X-Men is my dream cabinet). This, on the other hand, I could find space for.
I’ve been looking at these systems for a while and really wanted to know about the game and how it runs and also how the buttons and stick feels. Thanks for the review, now I feel like getting this bad boy
I read comments of people who really seem to be interested and I honestly can't understand. I loved the arcade when I was younger and I spent so many quarters playing my favorite games back in the day... but this looks so underwhelming. The size is sad and the cabinet lacks some wow factor. If anything I'd rather buy an old arcade cabinet and refurbish than buying a kid sized one without coin slots.
Cereal Killer This is made purely for casual gamers. Anyone with an interest in arcade cabs is either gonna referb an old one or build their own and stick mame inside.
Nice review but if someone can’t change the settings in the game or access the diagnostic menu like a real arcade machine, it isn’t worth my money. They could have at least added a fake coin slot to the front or even used that extra space as a piggy bank for nostalgia or created a coin slot sound. Honestly I think this was slapped together to make a little revenue. They could have added in a few extra touches to impress people who grew up Playing arcade cabinets
I have a big blue cabinet of SFII Turbo and I share your sentiment about it’s downfalls. It’s huge, and the technology in it is old, antiquated and difficult to repair unless you have arcade repair experience. If you don’t know what you’re doing, the CRT monitor can shock you to death.
Problems with this thing and your review: 1. The controllers are too close together. 2. CE and Super over Original and Turbo is an odd decision. 3. The joysticks in the US did *NOT* click. 4. The joysticks in the US used egg tops, not balls like Japan. 5. The joysticks in the US had a round interface vs the square interface in Japan. You totally failed to mention which interface this has. It's a big deal. The round interface makes circle motions easier, but trickier to get corners for diagonal jumping and crouch blocking. The square interface makes circle motions more difficult, but corners are easy to find especially for dragon punch motions. If you're going to limit the machine to 3 games, they should be the most competitive and popular: Street Fighter II, Street Fighter II Turbo, Super Street Fighter II Turbo. Champion Edition and Super are the red-headed step-children.
Idk if you've been around the country but SF2CE arcade cabinets are like the most common cabinet you can find in America. That's my guess as to why they went with it, wider nostalgia audience that will recognize the game/cabinet design. And if you wanted full sized controls then why not buy a full sized machine instead of a Scaled Down one that no-duh is gonna have scaled down controls. And if you would've spent the extra $100 for better controls, you will spend it anyway buying those better controls to mod it. Its priced and built to attract a wide audience. An intro machine into the hobby, not some $1000 turbo-nerd machine for elitists.
For anyone who is wondering, The cheapest price is $299 at Walmart and that is pickup only and it is only available in the US which kinda sucks for us brits
Pandoras Box is shit tho emulation wise and well Mame cost a lot more unless you build one yourself. These people know Mame exist but are targeting people who want an officially licensed re-release for these games rather than piracy.
I think every jabroni that says using some basic box to emulate arcade games has never played a real arcade cab. Pandoras Box, Retro Pi, Mame, Jamma ect are only good for 8 bit emulation (and the audio is still garbage no matter what). If that trash emulation was as good as everyone wishes it was, there wouldn't be a market for companies to make a far more authentic experience for arcarde at home. It's one thing when your at a bar, drinking and playing some multi-jamma machine for $0.25 a pop, but when you want a real arcade experience at home mame gets annoying real fast
No shit its just emulation that's not the point of it. Its targeting people who want a close official feel to a private arcade machine in their home. Re-read the first comment I made and attempt to understand it.
I got nothing on Mame hell I own a machine myself but I want to still support this company who is bringing quality legal ways to play this at home while at the same time looking nice.
Woo hoo. This ones on my list also, but ordered Astroids, and Centipede to start. Will add this one also, among others . Yeah my arcade man cave dreams will be fulfilled. 🤟
I just hope that with it weighing 60lbs the cabinet isn't shaking, rocking and jumping around when two people are really going at it playing. The weight of a real cabinet is part of the battle.
How in the world does this not have Street Fighter II - Hyper Fighting/Turbo? Greatest fighting game of all time. Even the original had it's own wickedness, but makes no sense to leave out the Don Juan Street Fighter II of all time.
This is a good size for young kids. I would buy this and put it into a doctor office or some sort of waiting rooms etc. Also Birthday party places and places geared towards kids etc., 👍

Its correct in Japan.

Now they need to do a Mortal Kombat 1 + 2 + 3/Ultimate one. =)
I might pay for that.
Hell yea lol
you can by using your own emulation/rom software
I agree with you. That'd sell a lot!
A photo of a mortal kombat one already leaked
This is so awesome! If they come out with a alpha 3 or 3rd strike one, ill buy it in a heart beat!
They have alot going on next year I heard so this will most likely happen
There is a Konami Cabinet in the works with The simpsons, Xmen arcade games and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Turtles in time built in
Same
Being officially licensed by Capcom has nothing to do with the quality. Capcom officially licensed games on the Retrobit Generations and gamers would tend to agree that they were awful conversions. But it does seem like these arcade cabinets do a great job nonetheless. Personally I'd love the Rampage/gauntlet cabinet.
.
Spanky82 ,
I want one of those cabinets you can put in a desk and has retropi so you can load every arcade (and console) game onto it. They look so cool. Probably cheaper to just buy an arcade controller and play on the PC though
duffman18 hopefully bought, not emulated, though
I would just like to drop Atgames name here. 😎
Also, how do you know that it's a piece of junk?
I think this conversation has run its course.
Man, I’m really surprised about how much respect and love they put into this thing! How much was it? The one with Strider caught my eye.
The Cab that has Strider is delayed until 2019 just FYI
Here are the cabinets i want to see from them:
Bucky O'Hare
TMNT Turtles in Time
After Burner
Mortal Kombats 1, 2, and Ultimate MK 3! (make it look like the original Mortal Kombat Arcade Machine!)
Space Harrier
Outrun
Hang On
Street Fighter Alpha 1, 2, and 3!
and the two Dungeons and Dragons arcade game!
What about Double Dragon, Double Dragon II and Double Dragon III
Jamma, mame, raspberry pi. You get tons of games and a quality cabinet if you build it yourself for about the same price.
I can't believe they omitted SF2 Hyper Fighting. It's just a few kilobytes of additional ROM data over Championship Edition.
licensing probably
@@Berttheturt314 Not true. It's the "three game" policy per cabinet...
Seeing 2 ppl play it killed it for me, that machine is TINY!
6:22 "Neither of these things really bugged me that much" Nice pun there! xD
In all honesty I'm disappointed that there is no crt filter option since the whole idea it to replicate the feel of an arcade cab.
If they make a Mortal Kombat one of these, I'd buy it in an instant!
All we need is Ms. Pac-Man, Donkey Kong, and maybe some Neo Geo games, and everything will be perfect.
There's a Pacman cabinet that was leaked. Will be an exclusive in America to a chain. Like how Walmart has a Galaga exclusive
tony lusardi though, if I’m not mistaken, it only has Pac-Man, Pac-man plus, and one other, I believe? I don’t think there’s any Ms. Pac-man yet.
dynamickirby the galaga machine should have had Ms Pacman also, considering that combo is one of the most popular arcade machine combos of all time. Total missed opportunity. It is galaga and the meh galaxian instead, weak.
A bunch of prototype cabs including DK were leaked as well
Hopefully Nintendo won’t be stingy and it have DK, DK Jr and Mario Bros....or is that too much?
I'm so early that he is Lorez. Must wait a little longer so I can get the HD version lol.
Do you really think there going to make an HD version I highly doubt it.
he's talking about the youtube video. If you watch it close to uploading, it shows only the lowres (240 or 360p) versions.
So sorry to be confusing. Not talking about the game, was talking about the Video quality of the YT video because it was only available at 360p because I watched it so early after he uploaded.
😂
GREAT REVIEW! So much better than any reviewers on RUclips. Thank you. I just Sub!
I’m probably going to get this for Christmas and using the chair setup as I get a bit enthusiastic while playing standing up
This review was what got me to pull the trigger on buying one of these. I absolutely love it, and I've always appreciated the way Rerez reviews talk about the quirks of systems, especially clones and knock offs.
I want one... And a Final Fight one too...
Good to see you here! Love your PC-Engine arranges. Keep it up!
Glad you like them ^^
Final Fight is planned for the future.
I bought the final fight. Its so good
Thanks for the detailed review! Job well done. After hearing those buttons and joystick click, my heart was filled with nostalgia. I preordered two cabinets and can’t wait.
I've been waiting for you to cover this, I knew you would. I personally have a love for that Walmart Galaga one, oooooooooo!
Capsule Entertainment STFU
@ you can mod the buttons all you want but you can't start re drilling holes to line up the buttons properly. This cabinet is nothing but a cash grab
Starkiller1036 lol....wow
Ok thanks for the input, I was on the fence about getting one of these
Oh wow, that’s disappointing. Guess it’s a pass then.
So you're saying we can hide our weed in the empty space?
TraceVandal DUDE THAT'S GENIUS
Your going to have to take off like 20 screws every time you want to access anything that's inside.
Or, you could just hide it in the stand under the cabinet.
Just like I used to hide my weed in the unused expansion slot at the bottom of the nes.
i once smuggled some weed over the border, it was hidden inside my arcade stick XD
Best review on this Cab, yet!
If they had a WWF wrestling version I would buy this!
They should have just put the Street Fighter 30th Anniversary Collection in there to coincide with the console versions.
It's a capcom set of games, don't worry a year later they will release another version to make this one worthless. lol
Why would people want to pay $300 for terrible emulation?
Thanks so much for your continued honesty in these videos! I saw the shimmering before you mentioned it because I'm really sensitive to that stuff and would've been super disappointed
Such an odd choice to have Vanilla Super. Shoulda been Hyper Fighting alongside Champ and Super Turbo, then it would be the perfect 3 game SF2 collection.
Hardcore Report Apparently the higher-ups at Capcom didn't (and still don't) like vanilla Turbo and the additions/changes made to it, and they only made Super Turbo
/X: Grandmaster Challenge (see how they even refuse to use the Turbo name in the JP release?) because of Western fans' demand for a speedier version of Super, so...
I mean, I don't particularly like HF either, I definitely prefer ST and CE, but no one cares about Vanilla Super. HF, on the other hand, has a huge fan base.
Should have been every CPS1 game since it would literally be no additional work.
Couple of things I would have liked to seen. 1: marquee light 2: coin door with red coin lights (even if its fake) 3. Use bat style joysticks for fighting games.
please make a mortal kombat one of these!
damn i wonder which mk games are going in it?
Id buy an Umk3 forsure
Mk2 , UMK 3 and Mk4. Coming out next year
There's a Mortal Kombat machine coming out in Europe, and Arcade 1up has another cabinet coming out with Midway games, so I'd say a dedicated MK cab is very likely.
They have said MK2, UMK3 and MK4 (for some reason) I wish it were the original 3. Not having MK1 is a real disappointment and lost opportunity, IMO
Retropie + XArcade + wooden arcade cabinet + car speakers, after a while i changed the sticks for some ILorenzo and it works fine for now. 😁
I can already notice a ton of pixels doubling because of bad rescaling with your camera captured footage, must be horrid in person.
other than the lack of an ability to fake the CRT curvature & adding games; this looks like a fantastic product also i appreciate that they got permissions to put all the official roms & such
Wow, this is really cool! I can see a lot of people buying this for their game rooms.
I have been waiting for a SF cabinet review for weeks now. Thanks!
I want to test out the asteroids tempest one to see how well the spinner knob works on it.
13randon 13axter I won’t be that strict on it. I just want to make sure it feels good and doesn’t feel too loose or cheap. Needs to be precise.
The spinner is a bit stiff on it. The Centipede track ball isn’t perfect either. I’d avoid unless you want to mod them.
They should make a polybius edition cabinet!
TheLegendkiller2100 like a Halloween edition only available during October!
Now your playing with death
🤣🤣🤣
1:23 Shane liftin' an arcade cab like it ain't no thang. #ripped
I honestly thought the weight issue was going to be the negative he was talking about at that moment. Nope, just a little bit of dust.
Or you could build one regular sized arcade and have it run hyperspin with mame.
@@Solmangrundy Haha Exactly There's always gotta be that one guy, doesn't there?
These aren`t for me either as a custom gaming builder what we can make is a lot better, however I spent a lot of time effort and money learning how to do that, most will not be able or want to do that and so this sort of thing at it`s price point is fine for folks in general. The only real negative being the lack of scanline emulation as retro games look awful on digital screens without that
I love the clicking sound of good ol’ arcade buttons..
this has already been hacked / modded on riddit to put more roms inside the rom chip. :)
link?
Link plz if true~ thanks
Show us.
Google is your friend , you can load all kinds of roms . I will be posting how to videos soon.
I've searched reddit... and think you're full of it, would love for you to make me eat those words with some proof though. Please link to the post.
I’ve been waiting for this for soooo long! It’s finally here!!!
I can't wait to get one and mod it....SOOOO many roms are going to be dumped onto it LOL.
I was hoping the controller would be USB not a single ribbon cable
Since each cab runs a custom emulator for each rom set, you will most likely only be able to dump other CPS2 and CPS1 roms into it. That is still a decent list of games, though. At some point they will sell a shell cab with no logic board for about half the price and thats where the real fun begins. Then we can stick whatever we want it
Twice The Mega Power I was figuring that. And ya, that will be VERY fun. A lot easier than building your own cabinet for a Retro Pie that's for sure.
I've actually made cabinets for people, that's why I said easier 🙂
Ya I agree with everything you said, it's just building one from scratch takes a lot of man hours and waiting of delivery, especially for the decals. I just like the idea of one being built for a decent price.
Omg thats perfect. TAKE MY MONEY!!!!!! ah my complaint is it lacks original SFII.....
Turbo is the only way to play the super SFII because of super moves and combos.
I hope mortal.kombat and turtles does this too, 1943, robocop and some atari.
How good is the speaker really though? The booming CPS-1 sound was a big part of the experience back in the day for me.
laidback93 my question too was how does it sound? Like does it have good quality sound and bass or is it cheap ?
i been reading it is only mono sound as stereo would would up the price but still good nonetheless and if you plan on playing it at night even on low prob have to cover the speakers
tooshort617 are you sure it's only mono I'm not expecting a premium sound system but at least needs to be in stereo
BIGGIEDEVIL yea its only mono there is another review up on there official webpage on Facebook and that’s what the guy said and that’s what 1up also said on there page
A headphone jack would have been nice.
Honestly i would live to have this arcade cabinet in my room
I think the game selection is a little goofy. Super and Super Turbo? I don't get it. I think they should have gone with World Warrior, Hyper Fighting, and Super Turbo.
that would be the dream line up
I agree! Plus it's blotchy, lags, has bad pixel areas, and no sound on the left player for SFII turbo!
I might have to make my own riser since it seems like its still shorter than standard size cabs
without the riser it's 4 feet tall. With is a tiny bit over 5 feet. Original average cabinet screen height was 5ft. *shrug*
tony lusardi in that case, i would def have to build my own riser. Looks way too low even with that riser. Im 6ft tall, and if this guy is like 5’6 or something, then it is really short
ZiambadZ agreed, it looks really short.
Or just build your own arcade machine.
#2. I don’t know how long the screen is expected to last, but if you leave it on all day like in an arcade and it goes out, will they make replacement screens available ?
siamese605 Yes, high scores are saved and there is a one year warranty.
Arcade Player/Arcade Stick Tinkerer first impressions:
My local arcade had one of these.
Didn't you hear, the buttons are clicky!!! Ya, so are the worst quality chinese microswitches you can buy.
i LOVED the baseball-bat-top happ arcade sticks on the original games. this "gumball" stick is very annoying to use.
I'd hate play an retro arcade game with those pro fight sticks buttons which get pressed by your finger's weight alone.
scir 91 I like these Japanese sticks for Pac man and vertical shooters. Definitely bat-top for fighters and beat 'em ups
It's got the North American design but it's missing the North American bat style joysticks.
If the shaft itself is the same diameter as a sanwa joystick then you can add a bat top to it. Question really is, are they using cherry switches or are they using those abdominal zippy switches.
@@NintendoDude888 No... not cherry mx, I mean their actual arcade switches.
I would LOVE to see a 1-up Battle Zone. Complete with the periscope-type display. That game RULED when it came out.
"Officially licensed games" doesn't mean there any good This has been going on for a long time. Don't forget Capcom has licensed games to various platforms including Tiger Handheld games and there junk 👎 Another not so hot recent example would be the Retrocade
I got an Arcade 1UP ad before this video.
What about its price?
Nov 5062 it’s $300
he never mentions the price of any product he reviews...i have no idea why. He's like "Its way cheaper than buying an arcade cabinet" but doesnt say how much lol.
DRM Sparkles probably bc he's in Canada, and it varies due to exchange rates and stuff
DRM Sparkles granted you don’t want to spend a grand on an arcade cabinet but rerez needs to include a price
I mean if you are typing this message it means you have access to internet ... so just ... you know ... make a quick search ... took me less then 10 second to find out that its arround 300 (299)
I justed subscribed. I got this one for my birthday on Nov 4th. I like it
The screen looking weird at times is called screen tearing and it is because of using a jamma game on an lcd screen. Funny how it uses the start button to go back to the main menu. Anybody here ever heard of Pandora's Box? Same concept except pb has 500 games in it. Including these sf 2 games.
I he did a video on the Pandora's box here: ruclips.net/video/WtiU8pVlads/видео.html
and the emulation for most of the 500 game weren't the best
Been watching your vids since 15k. Happy to see your channel grow!
9:56 Cabinet corner already damaged/peeling... Just like Ikea furniture.
It's true to its design lol. Arcade cabinets were made from the same cheap particle board with a vinyl/sticker on the wood as a "paint job"
I dont get how people think Old Arcade cabinets were this massive work of art that used the best wood available lol because they didnt.
299 for an emulator in a fancy case? Hell no! I'll stick to MAME on my PC, with a nice high quality Arcade stick.
This isn't for people like us, it is for those of greater fortune and wealth that can afford to spend coin without the use of any intellect or knowledge of a possibly superior method or option. It's for lazy gamers. Not everyone cares to learn about emulation and whatnot.
It's basically a collectable item for people who grew up with the arcades.
A $300 cabinet doesn't require "greater fortune and wealth" lol. PC gamers spend more than that on a solid setup.
Great cabinet! I can already see a pc installed inside with hyperspin/rocketlauncher running all MAME-games /w perfect scanlines. Even if I have to replace the sticks and buttons, it is going to be awesome and well worth it!
What a waste. Just buy a bartop kit
The light on the top title part of the cabinet does not turn on.. not nice.
The cabinet looks really nice... I guess soon we will see a lot of videos of people installing a Raspberry Pie inside these things.
That's what I want to do. The price for the unit makes it well worth it especially considering no special tools are needed.
An arcade? Pfft. This 80's kid went to donut shops and laundry mats.
Nice to know its worth it. I also cant wait for the mods for the cabinet.
I really hope that there's gonna be a Virtua Fighter one eventually!
Cyberpunk NEET That’d be neat, and I could see SEGA getting onboard with releasing on this kind of thing.
There was a pic of a Sega one. Had Shinobi, Altered Beast and Streets of Rage. no mention of VF.
Christopher Gaizat
Figured.
You lost me at like it better than the original arcade machine. No way at all.
tobiwan71 no once modded with retro pie it blows the original cabinet away
I’ve been looking at these systems for a while and really wanted to know about the game and how it runs and also how the buttons and stick feels. Thanks for the review, now I feel like getting this bad boy
I read comments of people who really seem to be interested and I honestly can't understand. I loved the arcade when I was younger and I spent so many quarters playing my favorite games back in the day... but this looks so underwhelming. The size is sad and the cabinet lacks some wow factor. If anything I'd rather buy an old arcade cabinet and refurbish than buying a kid sized one without coin slots.
I don't understand bartops but they seem to be really popular.
Cereal Killer
This is made purely for casual gamers. Anyone with an interest in arcade cabs is either gonna referb an old one or build their own and stick mame inside.
I'm glad to hear this turned out OK, here's hoping they do the same for Mortal Kombat and Street Fighter Alpha series in the near future.
INSERT COIN HERE
Nice review but if someone can’t change the settings in the game or access the diagnostic menu like a real arcade machine, it isn’t worth my money. They could have at least added a fake coin slot to the front or even used that extra space as a piggy bank for nostalgia or created a coin slot sound. Honestly I think this was slapped together to make a little revenue. They could have added in a few extra touches to impress people who grew up
Playing arcade cabinets
Too early
Still at 360p
Its for the people that want the old feel if you dont want the old feel make one yourself or buy there new game with all the old ones in it.
He isn't talking about the game....
Problems with this thing and your review:
Just get a Pandoras box or a mame cabinet
Cybershroom this is just emulation so just save your money
No shit its just emulation that's not the point of it. Its targeting people who want a close official feel to a private arcade machine in their home. Re-read the first comment I made and attempt to understand it.
I got nothing on Mame hell I own a machine myself but I want to still support this company who is bringing quality legal ways to play this at home while at the same time looking nice.
If these guys could ever make a House of the Dead arcade cabinet I could die happy.
Very good review providing everything a prospective buyer would want to know.
Hope tons of people buy these, so I can get the real machines at killer prices!
Woo hoo.
This ones on my list also,
but ordered Astroids, and Centipede to start.
Will add this one also, among others .
Yeah my arcade man cave dreams will be fulfilled.
🤟
Without the CRT & the coin mech/original jamma boards I don't see why I shouldn't just play street fighter on mame instead
I'm not really the biggest fan Street Fighter but once they put Mortal Kombat 1 2 & 3 on I'm definitely buying it
