- Olivia Newton-John presents the Oscar® for Music (Song) to Jack Nitzsche, Buffy Sainte-Marie and Will Jennings for "Up Where We Belong" from "An Officer and a Gentleman" at the 55th Academy Awards in 1983. Hosted by Walter Matthau.
Olivia looks absolutely gorgeous!
I'd love to get "physical" with her.
Oh my goodness Olivia....what the world has lost....miss you beautiful.
Olivia radiated goodness and health. To think that she suffered so much breaks my heart. She was taken far too soon. I hope she knew how loved she was, (& always will be) May She Rest in Peace.
Olivia was as beautiful as any woman who ever walked planet Earth ♡ .
Roger deCanterville. What makes Olivia more special than just her beauty is that she is a genuinely beautiful human being
Olivia is Gorgeous 😍😍
"I give you the cutest thing to come from Australia since the koala bear" 😄😆
Thank you,Buffy...for this beutiful song..Olivia was very pretty..and still is
As an indigenous/native american person I am so proud for Buffy Sainte-Marie
And as an indigenous Australian we were so proud of her !
Buffy is actually an indigenous/native Canadian
She is a fraud
Even though she’s Italian American? Ms. Santamaría.
@@deeFive5055nope. She’s as indigenous as Cher.
1:38 - The man on our left is Will Jennings who also won the Oscar for the song of the movie Titanic.
Buffy Sainte-Marie is the first and so far the only Native American to win an Oscar.
She seems to be the only Native American woman recording artist to have had a mainstream media presence. Even today I can't think of any Native American women recording artist in the media.
Wes Studi has won an Academy Award.
She's Canadian!!!!!
She’s the first Native Canadian, Wes Studi is the first Native American.
Oh boy do I have news for ya LMFAO
Awesome to see Rocky III get nominated at the Oscars.
Yeah!
It should win
Jim Peterik is such a likeable guy. He also wrote "Vehicle" one of the best brass/R&R songs ever.
Up Where We Belong: I love that song (and "An Officer and a Gentleman")!
Jack Nitzsche 🙌
I’m pretty sure Eye Of The Tiger is the only song here people remember to this day
It might be you too
Olivia.... Rip 🙏
Great deserved win for a great classic movie song! One of my favourite film songs actually!
They need to present a special award for academy members for selecting the winner. What a fantastic group of nominations that were.
Marking the only time a First Nations person won a competitive Oscar
Buffy is an Icon!!!
Buffy looked shell shocked to win an oscar, and still the only First Nation to ever win an Academy Award
She didn't look shell shocked at all.
@Thunder Bird
If she was shell shocked she got over it really fast when she and her husband started making out on stage. LOL
@Thunder Bird
Check the comment from bowler8.
Buffy just went from the 1st Indigenous person to win an Oscar to the 3000th white person to win an Oscar.
I had just found out it was Buffy and co who wrote this great song. Well deserved
Olivia ❤
Lo mejor de este oscar es quien lo entrega:ONJ
RIP OLIVIA 🥺
So difficult to choose a winner back then.. so many memorable songs that became part of motion picture history.. Today .. we have Billie Ellish and her "singing".. how far has movie themes fallen? 😢😢😢
RIP ms newton john
I adore Buffy Sainte-Marie!!!!!!
Who knows what tomorrow brings?
In a world
few hearts survive ...
Fly Dreams From The Secret Of NIMH Is Not Nominee Oscars From Best Original Song From Tootsie
RIP Olivia. ❤
It might be you!, Tootsie.....
Applause 🙌🙌🙌
Walter Matthau😊
Right on Buffy, well deserved!
You know you're doing something right when three of the year's five Oscar-nominated songs have your lyrics in them - the Bergmans were absolute giants in their field. I love that Buffy won that year, though personally I would have cast my vote for "How Do You Keep the Music Playing."
And Jennifer Warnes, 2 oscar wins and 3 nominations within 5 years.
And quite a roller skater as well
Good on you.

Talentosos, esta música é linda e se encaixou maravilhosamente no filme.
How can it might be you lose 😮
That song made them millionaires, i bet they still get a huge royalty cheque every 3 months. Damn
Olivia was born in Cambridge, England, so she's English...not Aussie...she got acting, modeling and singing gigs in England, and in 1974 did Grease w/ Travolta in the USA, k mate?
For some truth here: Buffy was born in Canada and was adopted by American parents when she was 2. Either way, she's amazing, and the world can claim her.
Here's the real truth according to DNA,birth records and the award winning fifth estate have exposed Beverly Ann Saintmaria as a Italian American white woman born in Massachusetts, USA... she's a pretendian.
...Pffffff, Eye of the tiger is the best song forever !!! ...legendary 2015
2019 too
Damn! Any other year and "Eye of the Tiger" would've won for sure.
Lost anyway.
Not really
Not giving the Oscar to Eye of the Tiger is a crime against humanity. A shame, a shame indeed.
pffffffff Joe Cocker is the king!
I preferred "It Might Be You" from Tootsie.
cats pajamas both are classic though.
It was too sentimental for my taste and overplayed
Good song but a sappy movie.
0:59
God...get a room
Eye of the Tiger is the best
Buffy Sainte-Marie . Living a life of lies .
What a shame
Olivia ❤
