    I just put this on my board, it really is that good. I see comments that it’s just a buffer but it’s not like any buffer I have. It’s something you have to experience to appreciate. Cheers

    It is a great pedal, but after almost a year of using it, I realized it makes everything sound harsh. Also, some pedals don't like the Euna on, not only fuzzes.

    Jerry garcia was using onboard buffers in his guitar since the 70's. He was ahead of the game. His use of on guitar effects loop (yes effects loop on guitar) used so much cabling it wqs needed.

    That is pure magic there... though, I would've liked to have heard the guitar straight into the amp, then with the board and the Euna off, and then with Euna on... part of the purpose of buffers and the like is to offset lost frequency content... sooo yeah, then you could've judged how much of the Euna was 'recovery' and how much it may have been 'adding'... nonetheless great content and a great pedal!! Well done love your channel !! :-)

    It does not sound any different than Bob Bradshaws device that he invented in 1980 and built into all the gear used in the rack gear in the EVH era when pedals all but vanished. He was soon asked by studio players to build the device in a pedal as they needed the portability. He did, indeed do just that, one at a time. In 2008 he worked with MXR to create that box as the MXR Custom Audio Electronics M-401 Boost/line driver. The name defines it's function but I am sure there is a little bit of 'fairy dust' sprinkled on it. Even though it's under the radar it has never been out of production. It is still on the Dunlop site now in 2022. It is not to be overlooked and at $100.00 USD it takes it out of the luxury gear that we all rightfully avoid.

    Definitely interesting. However, I use the Klon clone Mjolnir Wildwood mostly as a clean boost at unity level. It adds something nice to my clean tone. AND I can use it as a drive pedal as well!
    But you can achieve similar effects with an EQ pedal, for much cheaper.

    • @welp3904
      @welp3904 Год назад +2

      Unless you’ve tried these pedals (I own the EUNA) you really have no idea. I’ve had Klon’s, multiple EQ’s, and the EUNA’s impact on the sound is very different.

    I just wish they were smaller physically. I doubt it has to be that large. If they make a mini, I’m in but I hate when always on pedals are too large.

  • @henqmusic
    @henqmusic 7 месяцев назад

    Because I see you own a Boss TU2w and a EUNA.. How is the EUNA compared to Buffer inside the TU2w? I have this Pedal and I can definitely hear a difference between the "Through" and "Buffer"-Modus. It's sounds better with the Buffer. Is the EUNA even better than the Buffer inside the TU2w? Or can I get equal results with a TU2w and a ge7?

    • @JacksonBrooksby
      @JacksonBrooksby  7 месяцев назад +1

      I think you could get close with those two and get a really good clear sound, but the Euna does something harmonically that I haven’t heard from any other buffer/eq combo

    • @metalosaur

      Plot twist: euna is not even a buffer. It is just a basic booster with handicapped tone controls. All those praises that "euna brings more clarity and definition without the volume increase" in reality correspond to the fact it makes signal slightly louder.

    • @ethanlocke3604
      @ethanlocke3604 6 месяцев назад

      @@metalosaurit doesn’t just boost the volume, it ups the impedance so that the original signal is actually preserved by the time it reaches the end of the chain, which gets you a better sound then letting parts of the signal get lost and then boosting them back in with eq and boost pedals

    • @metalosaur
      @metalosaur 6 месяцев назад

      @@ethanlocke3604every transistor-based IC has low impedance output. Tube Screamer and DS-1 all do exactly the same thing, which you have just fabulously described. Any other booster like MXR microamp will provide low impedance output as well.

    It's a very expensive buffer that takes a lot of board space. I'd rather spend that money on a pedal that can be set to buffered bypass when off, for example many Strymons can do this and they have a good buffer. I currently use my Strymon Riverside as an always on buffer like this and it solves the issue of too many true bypass pedals or long cables very well.

      I agree it’s just hyped and John Mayer has it

    • @grosebud4554
      @grosebud4554 Год назад +1

      Yeah its very basic, the dip switches do make a lot of difference but same could be done with a graphics eq after the buffer. Mayer used one cause jerry garcia used a unity hain buffer jfet style chip built into his guitars that helped hos long cable runs because pf his unique guitar effects set up. My guess is he played jerry's guitar and realized its needed to capture that jerry things.
      Its excellent on darker amps and when recording and need all that definition

  • @DavidVOLTA
    @DavidVOLTA 2 года назад

    Your review is great as always, but sorry I don't hear anything exceptional to justify its high price. Did you try to achieve the same "brighter/wider tone" by adjusting your amp EQ or put literally any treble boost in front of the amp? I think the result would be nearly identical. Also with less fat guitar such as Strat/Tele/Jag the difference would be marginal imho. Anyways, no hard feelings :)

    • @JacksonBrooksby

      Maybe I should try compare this pedal to a more traditional EQ and a buffer in a future video. Thoughts?
