The problem with that is the cost to put that film on there is in some cases as much as a new window. Windshield protection film being installed can run as high as $700 or $800.
Here's my idea. Get some heavy-duty tarp and cut it into the shape of your windshield. Punch holes on all four corners and put in metal grommets. For the two bottom holes, you have a little loop of steel cable that wraps around the rear-view mirror on both sides. This anchors the bottom of the tarp to the car. For the top holes, you have a long steel cable with an eyelet on the end tied to the passenger side hole on the tarp. Crack the front windows down slightly, then run the cable through the passenger side, through the car, and out the driver's side window. Then lock the cable to the remaining hole in the tarp. The windows have to be barely cracked so they keep the tarp from sliding down the windshield. Finally, you just put shrink wrap or rubber insulation around all the cables so they don't scratch up the car.
My buddy had one placed pn his jeep wrangler.....so he just lowered the front window and drove it around like that, until the boot company came and removed it.
They can recover it at the bottom of the local river that botch is going off the bridge lmao nyc worried about parking but not the endless shootings and muggings, letting dudes with violent assaults walk same day
I've seen their promotional video and the idea is you scan the QR then pay and the site will provide a code which when entered releases it, you're then supposed to put it in one of their drop boxes....I'm guessing if you can get it off without damaging it and then put it in the drop box they can't press criminal charges for damaging property or theft. Simply throwing it away would leave you open to such charges because they're going to have a record of which vehicles they've put them on and where.

No, that was an inflatable pad that locksmiths use to shove into car doors. It slides into the gap, then is inflated, which allows them to reach in with a rod and pop the door lock from inside. If you look up locksmith videos, you'll see them used often.
Put a protective film on your windshield like ClearPlex, if you don't get a barnacle then its still doing its job of orotecting from stones and debris but if yiu do get a barnacle you can simply peel it off.
I consider boots and "barnacles" and those starter disablers as auto theft. They are denying you the right to use something that you will (eventually) pay for.
That's overkill. A plug-in dremel would work just fine, as long as you have an outlet inside your cars. And most American cars built within the last decade do. I've run my dremel a couple of times off of my car, when I needed to cut through a lock that was nowhere near am outlet.
The fines are theft. I pay my taxes. These are used by local governments to boost revenue. The policies that allow this are voted on by petty tyrants or instituted by unelected bureaucrats and used against tax payers to charge us for parking on a street we payed for.
How to defeat a Barnacle, hmmm... I'm just spitballin' here... let's see... maybe you could PAY YOUR DAMN PARKING TICKETS??? OR YOU KNOW, NOT GET ANY IN THE FIRST PLACE??
Install a thin film on your windshield and if you ever get this boot just peel the film off with the boot.
Break your windshield and sue them for breaking it when it was installed!

We may never know
You can disable the alarm and gps if you drill a few holes at the top on each side and fill with water. Then start removing it from your car.
You’re a gentleman and a scholar 🫡
I’d have my windshield replaced instead of paying the fines.
So you’d pay 100’s of dollars more? That makes sense if you’re a dumb ass I guess.
No need, just drill a hole in the cup to release vacuum.
This is definitely useful information, ESPECIALLY for New Yorkers with Out-Of-State Registration😉
Just drill a hold into each suction cup
If you damage it you risk criminal charges, but if you get it off without damaging it then no harm, no foul
I have a heated windscreen :)

It's funny because you can just zip it up in a Faraday bag and toss it out somewhere and the GPS signal won't matter

Just wrap it in mylar
Just toss it in the drop box and leave. Let them track it back to their own drop box.

Go stick it on the windshield of a tow truck.
