Budget - couple of TC options below 125€, JHS Series 3. But for me used Digitech Digidelay outperforms everything in that region with build quality and variety of sounds. Really decent tape emulation
I believe other pedals like the TC electronic Nova Delay, the strymon brigadier, the nux duotime, the new mooer ocean machine ll and the Halo are other pedals that worth a talk. I know they're not from 2024 but it'll be interesting to hear your opinions on those. Great episode!
The Nova Delay just cannot leave my board. It’s so easy to dial in what I want. They’re such great values and you can program in a few presets, and you can mod it to accept midi clock and preset changes. Huge fan of it.
My Andy Martin EP-3 Toneprint in my basic Alter Ego beats all of these. 🙂 The guy that designed the original Deluxe Memory Man made a pedal with the San Diego guys... J. Rockett... and the stereo sound of their CLOCKWORK is the best stereo delay I have ever heard. The T-Rex Echorec is staggeringly beautiful sounding and one day... one day...
I bought a TimeLine on the day it was released and ended up with one of the first 1000 made. Switched from an Eventide Time factor. I wanted the smear function and the ice delay and to this date are the two reasons it hasn't been replaced on my board. I am on my 4th set of switches but no other parts have been replaced. My tip on switches: get the Carling P26A-1D-RND-MTL
I have one kislux bag I got in 2019, it's the LV white catogram speedy. It's counter quality and it has a nice honey patina now, so the leather is real. I think whatever makes you happy go for it. I've seen LV with plastic leather and blood red glaze...
I really love your taste and style always so chic. My faves would be the kislux leather backpack and the Swarovski pave diamond ring so gorg. Thank you for your recommendations.
For a long time, as the price of Chanel increased, I no longer thought I could afford it. I think I'll be happy that I have the kislux as my travel bag that I don't have to take care of. By the way, I'm sure no one will have a hard time telling the difference. Thanks for the comparison.
I use most effects subtly but my TC flashback to date has never let me down. There is a lot of versatility there. However this is coming from a dad rocker lol. Appreciate the content. Great vid!
Yup! I really like their Alter Ego - it gives me that 'wobble' and slight degradation from the '70s when I was using WEM Copycat & Roland Space Echo, and I can then go into my Flashback. Some might say 'overkill' but having that tape slap-back or single repeat into a subtle Dotted 8th or simple 1/4 note stereo repeat can sit in a mix beautifully.
Check out the ECHOtour by DLS Effects if you like analog delays like the DM-2 or Carbon Copy. The addition of a tone knob for the repeats is brilliant. Dave is one of the OG builders and needs shown some more love! All his pedals are great.
Each time y’all post a “Best of” video/episode, I get excited that you’ll run down a nice list of the best effects/power supplies/vintage drives/etc. only to find that the entire episode is organized around trashing a list published by some online guitar magazine… I don’t care about those lists. I don’t really care what you think of those lists. I doubt anyone tunes into this show to hear your opinions on other peoples lists… I really DO care about what you guys think about pedals and pedalboards though! I’d love it if you’d just stick to talking about what you like and sharing your insights!
These episodes appear to be our most popular podcasts in both audio only format (shout out to Bangladesh where we're #1 in the musical instrument category - likely due to IP address reroutes). Secondly, we do provide our preferred delays at the end of the video and do some sort of "Top 5" list. I think we also do that in the power supply, overdrive, and other categories in the last 10 minutes or so. I understand this is not your preference.
DL4 MKII is basically the Delays/Reverbs of the HX Line (Helix, STOMP, HX Effects). It sounds good but I think a lot of people would just spend more for an HX Stomp and get more functionality and a better interface.
Boss DD-500 - if you’re willing to deep dive and get creative - is still ONE OF the most ultimate delay workstation type pedals. Really surprised there’s no mention 🤷🏻♂️
While we all have our personal preferences that we sweat by, there are some pedals in this genre that appear on boards throughout the professional ranks that should have made this list that include the Providence Chrono Delay, the Halo, Strymon Brigadier, and the big body EHXDMM. These lists are suspect and likely designed to sell products they make the best profit margin on or the brands listed pay to be on the list. I tend to pay no attention to them.
Moore reecho. I recently watched an interview with Bob Bradshaw and he had recommended this pedal. Said it had vibe for days. Used you can find it for $40 used. Has analog , tape and real echo. Has anyone on the board tried it? Thanks
@@VertexEffectsInc That's the stuff I don't get. You either say what you're talking about or don't say anything. This "this should give you something to consider" is very low and sounds very childish and stupid. And that coming from a guy with a graveyard in his closet.
Okay, I’ve always scratched my head about the obsession around the kislux book totes and their practicality, but this one is adorable!! Congratulations
Slight digression but, best smaller footprint delay that will give me a DMM style delays & gives me tap? I actually have a Deluxe Memory Boy which is a little darker with less pretty modulation so I can accept something similar.
I had to buy a blacked out DL4 MkII a couple of weeks ago from Reverb’s Blacked Out shop because it was only $199! Still available at that price. I don’t even need it. Haha
Number 1: Line 6 DL4 MkII? I haven’t seen a single (semi) pro musician using that exact pedal live, except for one synth/ key player... I have seen a lot of other Line 6 stuff though. Isn’t this article actually fed by overstock just a tiny bit more than you might presume it is?
That article had a chatgpt vibe. It all sounds somewhat plausible on a superficial level. I mean it doesn't recommend a tube screamer as a great delay, but I don't know of any human that would possibly create that list with those categories.
Interesting but somewhat of a daft list, I realise pigeonholing probably sounded like a good idea but in doing so I think they missed out on some obvious no brainers, I mean there’s no mention of anything from Source Audio for a start, Strymon’s “other” delay pedal thei Dig is practically an industry standard by. Anyone who doesn’t have the Timeline as the number one pedal in this category is fooling themselves, then again what do I know, I’m still rocking the Damage Control version of the Timeline and I couldn’t be happier!
I love source audio. It has been my go-to delay and reverb for several years. Super simple user experience, yet it can handle more intricate stuff if you want. And the footprint is pretty great.
Workhorse delay - Boss DD20. Can do all basic delays. Programmable, five patches foot switching with tap in a boss enclosure
Can't believe no mention of the Halo...
I was thinking that?
It is in a league of its own.
Yeah. That is probably what I am going for next.
I was thinking that as well
I’ve been through multiple different delays throughout the years and hands down my favorite delay I’ve played and own is the Suhr discovery delay.
How is the DD-500 not on this list? I'd also take a Strymon El Cap over half these pedals.
It is, at the end!

you’re literally my comfort person i love you kislux !

HEY kislux I have been watching you for years and im so proud of where you have made it! I love you so much! Also thanks for making my day
I use most effects subtly but my TC flashback to date has never let me down. There is a lot of versatility there. However this is coming from a dad rocker lol. Appreciate the content. Great vid!
It’s not bad, the build quality is not so good however.

Hi, what would be your pick for a second delay that not duplicate but complete my timeline
Should have included the boss space echo!

For the analog category the Walrus Audio Meraki needs to be up there with the DM-101 it’s fantastic

No DD-200, Halo, nor Echosystem? Nothing from Source Audio nor the El Cap? Wow.
The J Rockett Clockwork is tap tempo and sounds great.. an updated Memory Man.
DL4 MKII is basically the Delays/Reverbs of the HX Line (Helix, STOMP, HX Effects). It sounds good but I think a lot of people would just spend more for an HX Stomp and get more functionality and a better interface.
It’s way more hifi on the HX. The digital is so inefficient on the DL4 MKI it’s almost analog sounding.
No Empress. Absolutely crazy!
TC Electronic Flashback II and Source Audio Nemesis/Collider
Boss DD-500 - if you’re willing to deep dive and get creative - is still ONE OF the most ultimate delay workstation type pedals. Really surprised there’s no mention 🤷🏻♂️
What about Sheeran's pedal? Still listening, maybe you mention it later
What do you think about the FutureFactory from free the tone?

Empress EchoStation in wonderful.
Ooof feel better Mason!
Keeley Caverns V2
I love all Walrus Audio delay pedals.
ARP-87 and the Meraki are so good
Moore reecho. I recently watched an interview with Bob Bradshaw and he had recommended this pedal. Said it had vibe for days. Used you can find it for $40 used. Has analog , tape and real echo. Has anyone on the board tried it? Thanks
MojoHand FX has a memory man type pedal. The dream mender. That was not mentioned.
Something a bit different would be Red Panda Particle 2 or Raster
I'm actually thinking about getting another delay pedal. I'm surprised there was no mention of the Keeley Halo..
I guess its omission should give you something to consider.
@@VertexEffectsInc sorry brosef. The halo is amazing and I’ve gone thru a lot. Even the nemesis
@@VertexEffectsInc That's the stuff I don't get. You either say what you're talking about or don't say anything. This "this should give you something to consider" is very low and sounds very childish and stupid. And that coming from a guy with a graveyard in his closet.

Eventide timefactor hands down the best delay 💪👌🤘
My favorite free the time future factory I had a timeline for years but it replaced it so much simpler and smaller form factor
Slight digression but, best smaller footprint delay that will give me a DMM style delays & gives me tap? I actually have a Deluxe Memory Boy which is a little darker with less pretty modulation so I can accept something similar.
Nano DMM?
Sorry should have mentioned I kind of need tap.. will edit
My mom bought one kislux and she loves it. It had been there for over 10 years when she went out with it.
I had to buy a blacked out DL4 MkII a couple of weeks ago from Reverb’s Blacked Out shop because it was only $199! Still available at that price. I don’t even need it. Haha
I have the same one it’s honestly a really slept on delay I love it
Which delay pedal is the easiest to setup the dotted eighth note?
DD5 with a tap tempo is hard to beat
Yes DD5!
Number 1: Line 6 DL4 MkII?
I haven’t seen a single (semi) pro musician using that exact pedal live, except for one synth/ key player...
I have seen a lot of other Line 6 stuff though.

Kirk Hammett used the first DL4 live. Also Billy Joe from Green Day. Are the ones that come to my mind now, but there are more
DM-101 maybe for that top slot? Timeline is a good #2.
DM-101 doesn’t do a great digital delay compared to other Boss units.
All dat kislux bags sssssoooooooo gorgeous
What was that intro tune right at the start?
That article had a chatgpt vibe. It all sounds somewhat plausible on a superficial level. I mean it doesn't recommend a tube screamer as a great delay, but I don't know of any human that would possibly create that list with those categories.
Waiting until there is a Timeline MX
Surprised no mention of the Nemesis.
I had one. To me keeley halo kills it
What delay was Bach using?
Same brand as his wireless
Hammertone definitely digital 100mA
I want a "Jesus is my tap tempo" bumper sticker.
Ugh…sipping coffee into a hot mic
You prefer cold mics and coffee?
I actually hate the UI on the timeline. Needs re vamped and updated to me
Lvx is the long

If Meris is not the top choice overall for reverb and delay, your list is BS
Which list exactly?
In my opinion, any Strymon is too much Strymon. Too many people use them. Would prefer a Source Audio to that
I love source audio. It has been my go-to delay and reverb for several years. Super simple user experience, yet it can handle more intricate stuff if you want. And the footprint is pretty great.
No echosystem ...
Why do these take so long …
Honestly! Mason you can’t question any bodies principles! Rebranding pedals?
Shame bro. It’s 4:25 into this video, I’ve had enough of your crap.
