    Hey Mitch. I just left Sam’s!!! I scored some markdown prime ribeyes at two for a little over $20! Also got some grass fed ground beef, 8 pounds of the WRIGHT thick cut bacon, eight boxes of butter, four Angus, New York strips, six Angus ribeyes and some Angus Prime rib, burger patties and a jar of pork rinds. The bonus was a large package of beef, fat and trimmings from the butcher for no cost. He hooks me up here. I will be making more beef candy in the air fryer with those trimmings. I love my trips at Sam’s. I will be firing up the Wevac very shortly.

      Watch for holiday sales. I’m in central Oregon and we have Fred Meyer here. I think it’s Kroger other places. Christmas, Easter and other holidays they put Ribeye on sale for $4.97 a pound. They let me get the whole primal package that is around 24 pounds. It’s bone in, I cut out the ribs and slice up the steaks. ( the ribs are delicious in the smoker with just salt!) I buy as many as they will let me and stock up. They also, have petite sirloin on sale for $3.99 from time to time. They cut them thick, I also stock up on those. Every week I cruise the stores looking for meat deals, I’m sure I’ve saved thousands by now. I hope you can do the same! Good luck

      Have you tried the beef short ribs at Sam’s? They have the flanken cut type, which are common at Korean barbecues. Super delicious and only take about 30 seconds to grill on each side over a good, hot grill. I cut them into squares containing one piece of bone, which makes them finger foods. They are great hot or even better cold the next day.

    QQQ:
    We have a super Walmart in my little town, it’s over an hour to get to Costco and I have zero idea where the closest Sams club is. My mom worked for Walmart and retired with 22 years on her belt. She has a lifetime discount card for 15% off of groceries.
    I buy salmon there, mostly it’s from Chile, probably farmed. But, I really like how it comes out all tender. I was getting butcherbox for awhile, but that sockeye was no fat and always came out dry and not to my liking.
    My question is- should we worry about the farm raised fish? I try not to. Thoughts??

    • @OldGuyCarnivore
      @OldGuyCarnivore  3 месяца назад +1

      Terry, I don't worry about much of anything in limited amounts, and I don't think the farm-raised fish is going to hurt. As far as the sockeye salmon goes, I replace the fat by poaching it in butter and it is wonderful. Sam's Club and Walmart are pretty much the same company, so the products there although packaged differently sometimes are generally the same thing.

    I don’t buy grass fed or pasture raised anything. I would love to eat all that “healthier” stuff, but I can’t afford it. I wouldn’t be able to stick with the carnivore WOE if I didn’t buy the cheaper stuff. I buy the box of 90 eggs from Sam’s that end up being far cheaper per egg than even ALDI, which is the cheapest in my area. The 90 eggs lasts me a full month, sometimes more, depending on my meal plan that month. I buy ALDI ground beef most of the time (frozen is cheaper). Unless Kroger has a better sale. I used to buy the big chub from Sam’s because it used to be around 12 lbs, so it was cheaper than Walmart’s 10 pound chub. But, I guess the poor economy has made even Sam’s cut back. I also buy chicken legs/thighs at Aldi, depending on sales. If Walmart is cheaper, I buy them there. I’ve never bought them at Sam’s because I’ve never seen them cheaper. But I just learned that Sam’s has them on sale @ 99cents/pound sometimes. I just have to watch for sales. If there aren’t any sales at the time I need groceries, I shop the cheapest available. That’s the only way I can afford groceries without having to go to local food pantries, but they are RARELY carnivore friendly. I really want to stay with this WOE for the rest of my life as it’s so much more healthy and I generally feel better with little to no pain. Thanks for suggesting the 8am grocery shopping at Sam’s, so I can find more affordable markdowns. Have a great week. Thanks for all your tips, tricks, recipes, advice and suggestions.
