I just watched this video to learn 'How to Fix a Stuck/Hot Pixel on a Canon Camera' and all I got was a tutorial about how to send a defective camera to its manufacturer. I already knew of the 'remap' during the cleaning-process and tried it myself without any success. Quite misleading title.
Just found a hot pixel on my Eos M2 did a late night youtube search after trying different things (rocket blower, restarting the camera, uninstalling Magic Lantern, etc..) and found this video, your sensor cleaning method did the trick and I can go to bed worry-free now! Thanks Mark
I will try it a few more times. I didn't want to overdo it incase it didn't do the camera much good, LOL. I tried it 5 times in a row so far and although it greatly reduced the number of dead pixels I had, I still got around 4 or 5 left. So thanks my friend, I will try doing it a few more times. Interestingly I found it didn't reduce the number of dead pixels I had on the JPG files, only the RAW files. But hey, they are the more important ones anyway.
I just found a pink dead pixel in my r6 today. I had one in my 7D years ago. I did purchase the Canon CarePak on my r6. Oh the fun and headaches of the camera world. Thanks for this video. Glad to know if it really bugs me I can have it resolved. Like yours it only shows up in video at a high iso.

This camera was BRAND NEW out of the box (my M50 MK II) and it had this... did your sensor cleaning trick and it seems to work! If the hot pixel comes back ill come and update this! But until then thank you!!!
I can feel you having this trauma of getting back cameras from the "repair" stating nothing or "no problem detected"! Talking to the hotlines is usually like asking your local bus driver how rocket science works, they are mostly clueless! I'm actually in the same situation right now with my brand new R5 which has a hot pixel at 1600 ISO 🙄 thanks for the informative video 🙏🏻

Did a long music video on my R6M1 yesterday and while editing footage today I saw 4 hot pixels in various colors towards the end of the shoot. They weren’t there in the beginning only towards the end. Mind you I was shooting at ISO 12,800. Tried the sensor cleaning downwards 7-8 times. Then recorded again at ISO 12,800 just now and ran the footage in FCP, low and behold the stuck pixels are GONE! Thanks for the video bud 🎉
OMG! Thanks a lot. Your video helped me get rid of 3 hot pixels on my Canon camera that had been there for like 2 months there already! The first attempt did the trick for my camera. Glad I didn't have to rely on Canon customer support, as that would have taken forever.
My Fuji GFX 100S had several hot pixels. I was able to resolve the bulk of them using the pixel-mapping command option in the camera. However, a couple of stubborn ones remained unmoved. I spoke to Fuji support, no questions asked. Requested me to send the camera in, and I got it back within four business days. Sent on a Monday morning and received on Thursday. I've been running the pixel mapping command frequently to be on the safe side.
My R7 has a hot pixel too. I do lots of long video static work with bright lights such as you shoot. I sometimes use Resolve which has a quick Dead pixel fix option to clear it up, but it's super annoying that it's with a new camera.
My Canon 2000D which had a red pixel in the top left cornerish, I did the "manual cleaning" because it has no auto-cleaning. I did what you said, except when I removed the body cover I noticed a speck of dust, I blew it while holding it almost pointing to the ground and I blew very carefully parallel to the opening. It got rid of the speck of dust and Voila! It works like a charm in video mode even if I leave the cap on. Red (stuck) pixel is gone :)
Hot pixels are a bitch - especially with video! I think it's pretty much inevitable that a sensor will develop stuck pixels as it ages, but it's definitely frustrating.
Holy cow thank you! It worked great on my 90D.. I believe though it's because my stuck pixel was a plain white pixel. I had heard of this before on earlier Canon models - but it never worked on my 7d.. So glad it worked on this one. I can do video again now.. lol.. If you go to my channel, you can see it on the church video in the middle almost in the center.
Thanks for your video. I’m in a quarantine hotel and while messing around with my eos R noticed a red pixel. Tried the sensor clean and now it’s completely gone. So I’m very happy I didn’t have to send it in.
@@markwiemels I'm currently in Bangkok Thailand. I was using the R recently with a Camlink for streaming which I suspect might have caused the stuck pixel as you described in the video.
@@damienrichardsonphotography yeh, I would be carful with that stuff, I bought an older camera for Timelapse and long exposure now, any of those things that get the sensor hot and can cause the stuck pixels.
Awesome vid, I also had this issue many months back with my R5, Sent it in and it was returned without any work being done. Pissed me off, I did contact them again and they did do a better job 2nd go, cleaning won't do anything. They remapped, and unfortunately I got them back so will have to send it in again. So much for remapping
I have a brand new Canon R6, I have barely used it and I just noticed a hot pixel. I did a sensor cleaning like 5 times, and I did a manual sensor cleaning (but just left it sitting there, it's not like I use alcohol wipes to wipe the sensor), after doing the sensor cleaning a bunch of times, I did another test where the ISO would jump into really high values by filming a dark scene and the pixel went away, however, if this randomly popped up again after I filmed a wedding, it would be pretty tricky to remove especially if you have image stabilization on cause then the red dot will move with the stabilization.
Is 7 ish dead pixels too much? I bought a used camera and it had around 7, I did the sensor clean function and it worked but I wonder if this is a bad sign since it’s more than just 1
I also noticed a red dot on my t5i a while back. I thought this was the end of the road with this camera. Fast forward to yesterday. I brought it out and now there are 2 spots in the video but with a reddish half glow around the pixel. Hopefully it isnt due to bad sensor and that i can just use sensor cleaning to resolve issue.
I now have around 15 stuck pixels on my R5C after shooting some long exposure shots and some timelapse. They only show on long exposure photos, not video, but what's a pain is I've also had this on my Z Cam E2-F6 after shooting some timelapse, which is why I decided to use the Canon instead...ha ha. The Z Cam however has a mode where you can get rid of these stuck pixels without having to send it in, and without replacing the sensor. It involves wrapping the camera in a towel, setting it to record in its highest frame rate, recording till it reaches 60 degrees C, then running the hot pixel calibration, which takes 5-10 mins. After that all is good again. Guess I'll be going back to doing long exposure timelapses with the Z-Cam...!
Just got a refurbed canon rp and after 3 hrs of shooting I found 1 pixel stayed on. This fixed it though! Setting a reminder in my calendar to check it before my 1yr warranty is up 😅
Got a solid deal on a t3i with a handful of lenses at a pawn shop. Now Im seeing why is was such a "deal," there are TONS of stuck pixels 😭😭 Thanks for the info brother, I'll keep diving into it
Similar with me. I bought my 80D used from a woman near me off Facebook. She had only used it for 9 months for a friend's wedding and a holiday, but said she couldn't get on with it. Ok maybe she didn't do any high ISO or long exposure shots in her time, or know what hot pixels were. But after a year of owning it myself, I've just tried using it for some extreme long exposures of over 20 seconds and I've got loads of them. It looks like I got a starry sky on my images. ☹ I tried this method twice and it hasn't resolved it, though I did find another video where you take the battery out when it's turned on, which seemed to work for most people. If this don't work when I try it 8 more times, then I will try that.
Why is this "Sensor cleaning" feature is NOT on G7X series? I've didn't seen it in MK2 and I guess it's NOT in MK3. These are not some low budget segment cameras though! Is this fair at all?
I had 8-10 stuck blue pixels and 1 stuck green on my 5D3. Easily visible at ISO 1000. After running the sensor cleaning 5-6 times, all are gone, even past 20k iso. Thanks!
This has been such a headache for me. I have a 90d and it got a hot pixel within 8 months of purchase. Canon fixed it. Then it got it again about 3 weeks ago. So I said whatever I have had my eye on an r6 it can the 90d can be my back up.. have had the r6 three days and while editing my test footage… already a hot pixel in the r6.
I was wondering when doing astrophotography why there's some dot that's purple or red?. Like stars usually came with blue or white color. And then i tried some star trail and found those dots aint moving. But iam glad found this vid thanks Man!.
I have probably about 20 of them. Having had no idea that long exposures caused them, I guess I was making it worse. But my camera seems ruined now. The manual cleaning method hasn't been working for me, and after having only used the camera maybe a dozen times it really discourages me. But it is well out of warranty. So I appear to just be screwed. Is canon supposed to be this bad?
You're lucky to have just one hot pixel, I've got loads of them and having tried some extreme long exposures today of over 20 seconds at just ISO100, they have shown up more then short long exposures. I did try some high ISO ones at short shutter speeds and they are still there, so I reckon they show up on long exposures as well as high ISO shots. I also tried some tonight of 3 minute exposures and it looks like I got a starry sky on my images of mostly red spots with some white and blue and I noticed a couple checkerboard ones like transparent pixels. That's obviously not noise. I've tried this method twice today and so far it hasn't worked. I will try it 8 or 10 times tomorrow and see what happens. If not, I found a few other videos with a method where you take the battery out when it's turned on and that seemed to work for most people.
@Levi Hoffman Hi my friend. I did another comment below which I did the same time ago as this one. Unfortunately I didn't seem to have bookmarked that one, where the guy removed the battery, which was frustrating, but I bookmarked two other links at the same time as I saw that, that showed the procedure but without taking the battery out, which was slightly different to the video on this web page. The comment below has the two links in it, but for some reason it won't allow me to highlight and copy them to paste here. What I will also say is, in my experience with doing this on my own Canon 80D, is that I did it 5 times and although it's reduced a lot, what looked like a coloured starry night on all my long exposures and those I did with even moderate high ISO, it's not completely removed them all from the RAW files. There is probably about 4 or 5 left. However, I always save my photos in the RAW and JPG formats and nothing changed on the JPG ones at all, of each photo. The JPG's remained the same. I only save in RAW and JPG so I could review the photos quicker on my Windows PC without bringing them in to the editing software first. Maybe I need to do the procedure more or maybe mine was so bad I need to do the dreaded deed and send it to Canon for repairs. I bought it used locally from a woman who said she couldn't get on with it and it was only 9 months old and had only done 2,400 shutter clicks. So maybe she got the dead pixels all over her photos and didn't know what it was and thought she had it set up wrong, but couldn't get rid of it, in which case, it must have had all these dead pixels from when it was new out the factory. In which case, that was very poor of Canon to send it out like that. 🤷♂️
I have 2 spots with blurry halo around them on my t5i when reviewing the video. I stopped using this camera a while back due to a red pixel in the middle of the video but somehow it worse.
@@supjay3945 it's annoying eh. I've tried the manual clean sensor method loads of times since I put that comment and they are still all there when I do long exposures or anything that I need above 400 ISO. I think I've just got a dudd camera, as there's other people out there that don't have this problem on the same model I have. I've even tried the manual sensor clean method 10 times in a row and although the colours faded out of them, it still left my photos with more of a fuzzy grey or white spots and the bright coloured hot spots soon returned again. I bought my Canon 80D, which is my first DSLR, because it was a more advanced camera then using bridge cameras I'd used before and that the image quality would be far greater. It kind of is better, but with all the hot pixels it has put me off using it, as i didn't buy it to have to spend ages removing loads of hot pixels from nearly every photo I do, when the bridge cameras never had that. I often only take my old Panasonic bridge camera out with me and leave the Canon at home, which is not what I wanted to happen.
@@MrBooojangles I tried 3 auto clean and the red dots were still there. then 1 or 2 manual clean. all I did with manual was turn camera upside down and looked at the sensor with flashlight. Somehow all the spots are gone! Will have to recheck them but I wasnt expecting this to work. Cant believe I almost sold the camera for 150$
@@supjay3945 I did the manual cleans with the camera face down as a video showed to do it. Do you mean you had the camera upright but upside down. Also have you tried any high ISO or long exposures of a few seconds long since your hot pixels disappeared. That's when mine show up and I love doing long exposures. If so I might try having mine upside down next time I do it and shining a flashlight in it. I will try anything now LOL.
My R5 has 8 stuck pixels (5 blue, 1 white, and 2 red). I'm also registered with Canon Professional Services (they have a free plan), so I was able to just click on my R5 and begin the repair form online, no need for a phone call. Mine is still under warranty, so the estimated cost is $0. Sending it off tomorrow, I'll report back when I get my camera back. Thanks for the video.
@@markwiemels I shipped it UPS on that Monday, had the camera back in my hands on Wednesday... very impressed with Canon's service. All of my dead pixels are gone now, I think they just remapped them.
I found a new way thru a video so I’m gonna tell you my solution on a Sony a6300 I went to date, change it to 4 months from now For example change it from 28 of January to 28 July, closed the camera for couple of minutes , Open it, And return the date to the current And fixed it some how!
My rebel t6 don't have that auto clean option , manual cleaning open the shutter and expose the sensor , what should I do now except contact to the service center
@@markwiemels I took a image of a white paper at aperture 29 and iso 100, and the paper was out of fous , to check sensor dust , then I find few tiny white spots which are visible only when I full zoomed in that image in my camera body , and the tiny white dots are more white than the white page I used in this case , are they dead or stuck or hot pixel?
I bought a canon 70d online around September 2021, and I wasn’t aware of how many hot stuck pixels there were. when I started shooting the night sky I noticed them but thought they were temporary navies of info I got online, so I didn’t know they were such a big problem. I did the technique you did with manually cleaning, multiple times and the pixels went away every time, but many would recur or come back every time I would shoot. it’s frustrating cause I can’t return the camera. Are they permanent if I don’t have camera warranty?
I'm afraid they are permanent. You should be able to find some editing software that can map them, and remove them, in bulk. I believe this type of program exists.
@@markwiemels that sucks, i believe when stacking and processing astrophotography data they almost entirely get removed so they end up not being much of an issue
i got my camera from my sister, it is lightly used but nothing used for astrophotography before i started to, i have on IOS 1600 and on every photo i have maybe upto 1000 stuck pixels, my camera doesn't do the manual cleaning thing as your camera does, so i cant do that, im unsure if the camera has warranty as i dont have the recite from when she bought it, im gonna call customer service tomorrow.
I'm wondering why Canon cameras don`t have a pixel mapping feature. Olympus has this and it works well. More stuck pixels will show up after some time I guess. You won't change the sensor every time that happen.
@@markwiemels Just shot a short and when I was reviewing footage, I noticed everything has a dead pixel. Needless to say, my heart sank. It's good to know that at least their is nothing wrong with my camera (your fix worked! Thanks for the video!). Just wish I could say the same about all the footage. =/
A year later, but I use KdenLive for video editing which has a spot remover effect; it can be made as large or as small as needed. This worked great for me on 4/5 of the pixels. For the last pixel, I had to remove it frame by frame - used ffmpeg to dump each frame, edit, and then used ffmpeg to recombine back into video.
My M6 Mark II just broke! I was shooting a comparison video R6 vs M6. I had the M6 on my backpack strap and as I lifted it up to take a picture it was on was on "bulb" mode. I half pressed the shutter to get a reading and it started to jump to and from shutter speed, ISO, and exposure compensation. I half pressed again and it brought up my menu settings and then started to jump through all the different menu items. Almost like there was a loose connection and the camera just randomly jumped around. I turned the front dial to readjust the shutter speed and it would not go any higher then 1/60 and then it jumped back to bulb mode. I wiggled the shutter release and it freaked out jumping from shutter speed, to menu items, back to bulb mode again. Not sure what's going on with it. I guess I will have to call Canon and see what's up.

Hi, here are two other methods to yours, that may be of interest to you. I noticed something you were doing wrong to what these videos show. Firstly you are using the clean now and not the manual sensor clean, which only appears as a third option in the manual modes. Secondly, you did not turn the camera off and on again after the sensor clean like these videos show. Here in Spain they will rip you off even if under warranty and if it's a warranty issue. "Oh, so we have to work on it but it's under warranty and we even say so? Well, you still gotta pay for labor!" REAL SCAMMERS CANON SPAIN!
The hot pixels is a problem with the electronics, it does not have anything to do with gravity. :-\ So... pointing the camera in whatever direction will not improve the cleaning process. :-\
I'm sorry but if you make a device with the ability to do something (take videos) then the thing better not BREAK while doing it... I'm sorry but this is ridiculous... :/ With that being said.. I just got a refurbished EOS R10, and after playing with it for a bit, I ended up with 2 stuck pixels on the sensor.. I had serious doubts that doing a "clean sensor" command would do anything, as it wasn't "dirty"... I don't know how, but it worked... *Shrug*
@@markwiemels yeah, my compromise was to just make a photoshop template that desaturates the exact points where the pixels are stuck and use that whenever I'm editing photos. It's annoying but can live with it for now until I can afford a better camera body.

I just tested my R7 in with 30 seconds exposition, and a hot pixel was there! Then tried the clean sensor option, it worked! Thanks man!

That's not great, you are not he only one to mention this issue with the R5.

That sucks! on such an expensive camera. Has Canon offered to fix it under warranty?
Ultra late reply but no, the red dot will not move as it is on the sensor! That would only happen if the dot was on the lens :)

I brought it out and now there are 2 spots in the video but with a reddish half glow around the pixel. Hopefully it isnt due to bad sensor and that i can just use sensor cleaning to resolve issue.
I now have around 15 stuck pixels on my R5C after shooting some long exposure shots and some timelapse. They only show on long exposure photos, not video, but what's a pain is I've also had this on my Z Cam E2-F6 after shooting some timelapse, which is why I decided to use the Canon instead...ha ha. The Z Cam however has a mode where you can get rid of these stuck pixels without having to send it in, and without replacing the sensor. It involves wrapping the camera in a towel, setting it to record in its highest frame rate, recording till it reaches 60 degrees C, then running the hot pixel calibration, which takes 5-10 mins. After that all is good again. Guess I'll be going back to doing long exposure timelapses with the Z-Cam...!

Similar with me. I bought my 80D used from a woman near me off Facebook. She had only used it for 9 months for a friend's wedding and a holiday, but said she couldn't get on with it. Ok maybe she didn't do any high ISO or long exposure shots in her time, or know what hot pixels were. But after a year of owning it myself, I've just tried using it for some extreme long exposures of over 20 seconds and I've got loads of them. It looks like I got a starry sky on my images. ☹ I tried this method twice and it hasn't resolved it, though I did find another video where you take the battery out when it's turned on, which seemed to work for most people. If this don't work when I try it 8 more times, then I will try that.

I had 8-10 stuck blue pixels and 1 stuck green on my 5D3. Easily visible at ISO 1000. After running the sensor cleaning 5-6 times, all are gone, even past 20k iso. Thanks!

This has been such a headache for me. I have a 90d and it got a hot pixel within 8 months of purchase. Canon fixed it. Then it got it again about 3 weeks ago. So I said whatever I have had my eye on an r6 it can the 90d can be my back up.. have had the r6 three days and while editing my test footage… already a hot pixel in the r6.

I was wondering when doing astrophotography why there's some dot that's purple or red?. Like stars usually came with blue or white color. And then i tried some star trail and found those dots aint moving. But iam glad found this vid thanks Man!.
I have noticed that the camera processor struggles to process some raw image as well and treats some artefacts as stars
I have a strange pixel on my display as well, but it goes away after taking a picture. It's very annoying to see though.

Me too my bro. If light is very high on iso or AV a red dot appear on my screen. The pic after i clean my sensor is ok but on screen i can't fix it

I have probably about 20 of them. Having had no idea that long exposures caused them, I guess I was making it worse. But my camera seems ruined now. The manual cleaning method hasn't been working for me, and after having only used the camera maybe a dozen times it really discourages me. But it is well out of warranty. So I appear to just be screwed. Is canon supposed to be this bad?
Give Canon a call, see if they will fix it under warranty, ya never know till you try, 20 pixels is pretty bad.
You're lucky to have just one hot pixel, I've got loads of them and having tried some extreme long exposures today of over 20 seconds at just ISO100, they have shown up more then short long exposures. I did try some high ISO ones at short shutter speeds and they are still there, so I reckon they show up on long exposures as well as high ISO shots. I also tried some tonight of 3 minute exposures and it looks like I got a starry sky on my images of mostly red spots with some white and blue and I noticed a couple checkerboard ones like transparent pixels. That's obviously not noise. I've tried this method twice today and so far it hasn't worked. I will try it 8 or 10 times tomorrow and see what happens. If not, I found a few other videos with a method where you take the battery out when it's turned on and that seemed to work for most people.
@Levi Hoffman Hi my friend. I did another comment below which I did the same time ago as this one. Unfortunately I didn't seem to have bookmarked that one, where the guy removed the battery, which was frustrating, but I bookmarked two other links at the same time as I saw that, that showed the procedure but without taking the battery out, which was slightly different to the video on this web page. The comment below has the two links in it, but for some reason it won't allow me to highlight and copy them to paste here. What I will also say is, in my experience with doing this on my own Canon 80D, is that I did it 5 times and although it's reduced a lot, what looked like a coloured starry night on all my long exposures and those I did with even moderate high ISO, it's not completely removed them all from the RAW files. There is probably about 4 or 5 left. However, I always save my photos in the RAW and JPG formats and nothing changed on the JPG ones at all, of each photo. The JPG's remained the same. I only save in RAW and JPG so I could review the photos quicker on my Windows PC without bringing them in to the editing software first. Maybe I need to do the procedure more or maybe mine was so bad I need to do the dreaded deed and send it to Canon for repairs. I bought it used locally from a woman who said she couldn't get on with it and it was only 9 months old and had only done 2,400 shutter clicks. So maybe she got the dead pixels all over her photos and didn't know what it was and thought she had it set up wrong, but couldn't get rid of it, in which case, it must have had all these dead pixels from when it was new out the factory. In which case, that was very poor of Canon to send it out like that. 🤷♂️
I have 2 spots with blurry halo around them on my t5i when reviewing the video. I stopped using this camera a while back due to a red pixel in the middle of the video but somehow it worse.
@@supjay3945 it's annoying eh. I've tried the manual clean sensor method loads of times since I put that comment and they are still all there when I do long exposures or anything that I need above 400 ISO. I think I've just got a dudd camera, as there's other people out there that don't have this problem on the same model I have. I've even tried the manual sensor clean method 10 times in a row and although the colours faded out of them, it still left my photos with more of a fuzzy grey or white spots and the bright coloured hot spots soon returned again. I bought my Canon 80D, which is my first DSLR, because it was a more advanced camera then using bridge cameras I'd used before and that the image quality would be far greater. It kind of is better, but with all the hot pixels it has put me off using it, as i didn't buy it to have to spend ages removing loads of hot pixels from nearly every photo I do, when the bridge cameras never had that. I often only take my old Panasonic bridge camera out with me and leave the Canon at home, which is not what I wanted to happen.
@@MrBooojangles I tried 3 auto clean and the red dots were still there. then 1 or 2 manual clean. all I did with manual was turn camera upside down and looked at the sensor with flashlight. Somehow all the spots are gone! Will have to recheck them but I wasnt expecting this to work. Cant believe I almost sold the camera for 150$
@@supjay3945 I did the manual cleans with the camera face down as a video showed to do it. Do you mean you had the camera upright but upside down. Also have you tried any high ISO or long exposures of a few seconds long since your hot pixels disappeared. That's when mine show up and I love doing long exposures. If so I might try having mine upside down next time I do it and shining a flashlight in it. I will try anything now LOL.
My R5 has 8 stuck pixels (5 blue, 1 white, and 2 red). I'm also registered with Canon Professional Services (they have a free plan), so I was able to just click on my R5 and begin the repair form online, no need for a phone call. Mine is still under warranty, so the estimated cost is $0. Sending it off tomorrow, I'll report back when I get my camera back. Thanks for the video.

@@markwiemels I shipped it UPS on that Monday, had the camera back in my hands on Wednesday... very impressed with Canon's service. All of my dead pixels are gone now, I think they just remapped them.
I found a new way thru a video so I’m gonna tell you my solution on a Sony a6300
I went to date,
change it to 4 months from now
For example change it from 28 of January to 28 July,
closed the camera for couple of minutes ,
Open it,
And return the date to the current
And fixed it some how!

@@markwiemels I took a image of a white paper at aperture 29 and iso 100, and the paper was out of fous , to check sensor dust , then I find few tiny white spots which are visible only when I full zoomed in that image in my camera body , and the tiny white dots are more white than the white page I used in this case , are they dead or stuck or hot pixel?
I bought a canon 70d online around September 2021, and I wasn’t aware of how many hot stuck pixels there were. when I started shooting the night sky I noticed them but thought they were temporary navies of info I got online, so I didn’t know they were such a big problem. I did the technique you did with manually cleaning, multiple times and the pixels went away every time, but many would recur or come back every time I would shoot. it’s frustrating cause I can’t return the camera. Are they permanent if I don’t have camera warranty?
I'm afraid they are permanent. You should be able to find some editing software that can map them, and remove them, in bulk. I believe this type of program exists.
@@markwiemels that sucks, i believe when stacking and processing astrophotography data they almost entirely get removed so they end up not being much of an issue

i got my camera from my sister, it is lightly used but nothing used for astrophotography before i started to, i have on IOS 1600 and on every photo i have maybe upto 1000 stuck pixels, my camera doesn't do the manual cleaning thing as your camera does, so i cant do that, im unsure if the camera has warranty as i dont have the recite from when she bought it, im gonna call customer service tomorrow.

I'm wondering why Canon cameras don`t have a pixel mapping feature. Olympus has this and it works well. More stuck pixels will show up after some time I guess. You won't change the sensor every time that happen.

@@markwiemels Just shot a short and when I was reviewing footage, I noticed everything has a dead pixel. Needless to say, my heart sank. It's good to know that at least their is nothing wrong with my camera (your fix worked! Thanks for the video!). Just wish I could say the same about all the footage. =/
A year later, but I use KdenLive for video editing which has a spot remover effect; it can be made as large or as small as needed. This worked great for me on 4/5 of the pixels. For the last pixel, I had to remove it frame by frame - used ffmpeg to dump each frame, edit, and then used ffmpeg to recombine back into video.
So would canon rebel eos t7 not be suitable for stop motion?

My M6 Mark II just broke! I was shooting a comparison video R6 vs M6. I had the M6 on my backpack strap and as I lifted it up to take a picture it was on was on "bulb" mode. I half pressed the shutter to get a reading and it started to jump to and from shutter speed, ISO, and exposure compensation. I half pressed again and it brought up my menu settings and then started to jump through all the different menu items. Almost like there was a loose connection and the camera just randomly jumped around. I turned the front dial to readjust the shutter speed and it would not go any higher then 1/60 and then it jumped back to bulb mode. I wiggled the shutter release and it freaked out jumping from shutter speed, to menu items, back to bulb mode again. Not sure what's going on with it. I guess I will have to call Canon and see what's up.
My kids are like that too sometimes, you want them to do something and they do 20 other different things instead 😋 Sorry to hear you camera broke... hope they can fix it 🙏🏻

Hi, here are two other methods to yours, that may be of interest to you. I noticed something you were doing wrong to what these videos show. Firstly you are using the clean now and not the manual sensor clean, which only appears as a third option in the manual modes. Secondly, you did not turn the camera off and on again after the sensor clean like these videos show. Maybe thats why you didn't have a successful outcome. 🙂

The hot pixels is a problem with the electronics, it does not have anything to do with gravity. :-\ So... pointing the camera in whatever direction will not improve the cleaning process. :-\
True! The pointing down is more about the dust that the sensor clean is suppose to remove.

With that being said.. I just got a refurbished EOS R10, and after playing with it for a bit, I ended up with 2 stuck pixels on the sensor.. I had serious doubts that doing a "clean sensor" command would do anything, as it wasn't "dirty"... I don't know how, but it worked... *Shrug*

@@markwiemels yeah, my compromise was to just make a photoshop template that desaturates the exact points where the pixels are stuck and use that whenever I'm editing photos. It's annoying but can live with it for now until I can afford a better camera body.
