You earned this like and sub because I sat here for an hour watching videos trying to figure out why my camera would not take a pic or video. It was the lens. It is manual. Thank you!!!
Thank you! My issue was the release shutter without lens! I got a manual focus lense and I have no idea what I'm doing! But thank you! This solved my issue!
Thank you for these tips , I went to do some shooting for college and the cameras would only take photos every now and again but I took out the card and then the battery and everything is working now , thank you 👌
You are a genius! Thank you for helping me fix my camera problems! Your video is so straightforward, and I appreciate how you go through each of the steps so clearly!
Some cameras have a setting that allows the shutter to be released even when not in focus. This can be a boon to those of us who use back button focus and then recompose.
Hello Joe. The problem I'm having is it sounds like the shutter works but no picture. I have changed the battery and checked the card for lock. Still no pictures. Oh I reformatted the card too. Canon Rebel EOS T3. Should I try to restore factory settings. Total newbie. Thanks Bob.
ANOTHER TIP!! Some cameras will be working fine, but when you press the review button the software does not reveal the most recent images, and you might assume the images were not taken. You have to figure out if you might be stuck in some accidental option that just reveals the images from the shooting from the last prior usage. Be patient, and find your way out of it.
Hey, my Sony A7c2 has the problem that when I Shoot many Fotos back to back, the shutter "laggs" and that one picture takes like 20 seconds or more and another 15 until I can use the Focus again. I tried switching sd cards and also formatting them etc but it sadly didnt change anything. Does anyone know what I can do?
Joe Thank you so very much sir, my problem was I had a dummy battery in when trying to take the shot testing the camera indoors, the video worked and recorded but I could not take a shot. I tried everything until the point of frustration and I even got a new memory card and when I put in the normal battery it worked fine. Now I feel like a dummy but, it's a lesson I will always remember. Thanks once again for solving my problem and getting rid of my stress lol.
I was on a hike with my Sony when I lost my view on the screen. The camera was working but I had to use optical view (too small for me)😊. Turns out, the soft eyepiece had moved slightly and was blocking a sensor. Hope to join one of your photo groups in this beautiful place someday!
This can be a setting on your camera, and it varies by manufacturer, but in general, when in movie mode, the red button records videos while the shutter release button will take stills. You don't mention what camera you are using, or if you are trying to take stills while the camera is actively recording video.
My issue that I’m having is the camera won’t take a picture without having a subject to focus on. I’m trying to take pictures of the northern lights, but my camera can’t focus on… the SKY. Any advice? TIA
Thank you for the video!! I was so frustrated cause my camera wouldn't shoot and watching your video I realized my camera's lens were placed incorrectly 😅
Mine is the problem just now, if I took picture on dark place or lights off it does not work. I don't know why. It seems stuck the lens if its dark. Anyone had and idea please?
Sounds like there simply isn't enough light for the camera to find something to focus on - if it can't find an edge somewhere, it can't focus. To test this, if you put the camera on manual focus and it shoots, then it is an autofocus fail due to lack of light.
Watching your video was helpful but you didn't have the answer. When I try to take a picture my screen isn't going on. My screen works fine but before when I took pictures before my trouble my screen showed the objects in it before I took the picture. I messed with menu and I did something where the screen is off instead of having something on it. Thanks because I wouldn't have noticed it without your video.
Neil, I did the same thing last week. As a photojournalist, I do many photo jobs. When I'm hired to cover a football game, it's normal to arrive a half hour before it starts. As I walked around I tried to take a few "starter" photos. Pushing the shutter button several times, I got nothing that I expected. After about five minutes, I started preparing my second camera. It had no problems. Being a night game, I noticed the moon, Jupiter, and other stars shining brightly. Then it hit me. A couple days earlier I was photographing the Andromeda galaxy with the same full frame camera. You guessed it. Everything on that camera was still set for photographing astronomy including the timer. Quickly I checked and reset everything. I had no problems with football photos the rest of the night.

I had no idea that manual lenses needed an extra step to let me take pictures, thank you so much! Saved me a ton of time and worry
Thank you! Got it working again, thanks for sharing this information 🙏🏽👍🏽
Remounting the lens worked for me !! Thanks !

Glad it helped!
Joe, thank you so much! I was just about to contact Canon when I found your video. Fixed my setting mistake, all good now. Thank you!
Glad it helped!
Thank you. I was able to fix my canon EOS R7 camera. My problem was the lens needed to be taken off and put back on.
Very helpful tips!
Glad you think so!

I didn't think any of these would work but they did thank you!
Thank you. So that’s what the green dot means. I backed up and my Sony A6600 took the picture. I had some idea it was a bit close to focus.

For me, today I had to take the lens out of manual focus bc it was just red whenever I tried to focus on the mountains and clouds in the background.
Thank yousir❤

My Canon M50 Could record video but cant take pictures
I'm having the same problem now. Can you help me?
@@paquitaanastaciaeduria8165 that could be your shutter motor..
The dumb one that has tripped me up is forgetting to take the camera off of self-timer mode.
