My family used to own a mechanic shop in Brooklyn for many years. We worked on THOUSANDS of these from the C Vic, Gran Marq, and the Town Car. What a beast of an automobile. Great comfort, fully subframed, even came with Air supension, engines going 400K miles before rebuild, dead reliable if you maintained it. I miss these things.

My first car was a 1974 Ford Galaxie 500, 2-door. That thing was a boat with a monster hood. It was sooo easy to find yourself driving well above the speed limit because you were just gliding along.
This particular Crown Victoria was originally shipped and sold to Norris Ford which is now Liberty Ford Brunswick. Located at 3101 Center Rd. Brunswick, OH. Crazy to imagine all that car for under $30k in 1999. My, how times have changed😌 This review/drive was very awesome! The build quality, interior, and sounds of an older vehicle are truly left to be cherished by those who appreciate them. No matter if it's a make/model that we liked or not, the changes in time and design languages truly speak volumes as we're into the 21st century and beyond. It's truly remarkable to see the progress or some would say digress in automotive design. The ol 4.6 Ford V8 is something to behold in today's EV forward automotive societal norm. The ol girl rides graciously down the road, and doesn't even bat an eye doing the job it was intended to do, effortlessly. I hope the owner continues to keep the passion, and dedication alive for his lovely, all original Crown Vic clad in Vibrant White. You can truly see the joy and serenity had between you two as you cruise and chat on about the legendary model. Most of these are often seen as Police Interceptors, cruisers as such with blacked out rear panels, and an occasional spot light adhered to the left drivers side, not this one. Truly as if it rolled off the showroom floor, fresh as a daisy.
I had the same car from my father, a 2002 model. Believe me, it is better than most new cars. Also, it is from Saudi Arabia. The car is distinguished by the fact that it had two exhaust ports and a larger radiator due to the weather.
The 4.6 is such a great engine. I’ve got a 98 GT. I’d rather have something underpowered that can make it to 500k miles than some unreliable turd that has a 0-60 that is 1 second faster. Plus the 2v 4.6 sounds really good for what it is. I’m a huge fan of an h-pipe with straight through mufflers
"I'd rather have something underpowered that can make it to 500k miles than some unreliable turd that has a 0-60 that is 1 second faster." In one single sentence you just described everything that's wrong with the modern Ford company. In these trying times, absolutely nobody with half a brain will take a risk of a car that won't make it hundreds of thousands of miles. Which is why Ford is constantly breathing it's dying breath, only to be saved by chicken taxes and "American jobs" excuses.

What an immaculate example! And the front chrome grille looks really nice too. What a nice find, I can tell he will really enjoy that car for years to come.
The horsepower was increased to 224 horsepower within the next year or two. If anybody's wondering the police, interceptor did not increase the horsepower, barely it increased it to 250 horsepower. And it increased the torque by 15. Not much of an upgrade but definitely way better than 200. Or at the time 2:24. So that's going to be a 26 horsepower increase and a mile per gallon increase.
I had a 2003 beige Crown Vic. My mom called it the Land Yacht. Great car. Can fit multiple bikes in the huge trunk. Got six people in it more than once. Got it to over 200k miles, but blew out an ignition coil in the mountains on my way to Yosemite. Tried getting a new plug and coil, but the plug wouldn't thred into the head. All mechanics shops were closed, and they couldn't see me for three days (it was the beginning of a holiday weekend). Luckily, a customer in the auto parts store said he would re-tap it for me for free, but that it wouldn't be a precision job. Well, he succeeded and the car ran fine for the rest of the trip. Unfortunately, the re-thread job was not perfect, so it kept blowing ignition coils. I took the head off to see if there was enough metal left on the head to get it re-threaded at a machine shop, but sadly there was not. Instead of buying a new head and gaskets and everything (this was several years ago when used cars weren't expensive) I gave up, put all the parts I took off into the truck, and put it up for sale. A dude drove 4 hours with a trailer to pick it up, with engine parts still in the trunk. I got $500 for it which I was happy with. Lots of good memories in that thing. Glad its still on the road.
It's refreshing to see a young enthusiast taking pride in a vehicle that was never intended for his demographic. Most people my age or younger wouldn't even look twice at a Crown Vic unless it's a decommissioned cop car. The civilian models were purely made to cater the elderly and didn't have youth in mind. But it's nice to see someone break the norm and have a true appreciation for this car and will take as good of care of it as the original owner. I'm one of those young enthusiasts as well. I'm the only one in the family that has a soft spot for the Panther platform. I would love to drive one long distance. I only drove a Grand Marquis to park it in a different spot as a porter many years ago but that wasn't enough to get a feel for the car.
I had a '95 Crown Vic LX, red with a red interior. I loved that car and have always regretted trading it when I did. I have always wanted another one - but would also take a Grand Marquis or Town Car. I love the first gear whine and 1-2 shift along with the hum of the V8. All of the Fords I had in the late 90's - early 2000's - had a shudder in the transmission after about 40K miles. It occurred in 3rd and 4th gears and sometimes caused eratic shifting, so they need a transmission service at that 40K mark, new fluid, etc. That solves the problem. It occurred in my Crown VIc, my '98 Windstar and '00 Taurus. Just something to keep in mind. Ford gave the CV their last update for the 2003 models. They got a slightly revised suspension, rackk and pinion steering, and an updated instrument cluster with a tach, although I prefer the pre-2003 dash because they had full gauges, not idiot lights. Could never see the point in having a tach in an automatic trans car. I have not driven one of these so don't know how much of a difference there is in driving one vs. one prior. Lastly, I grew up with RWD and prefer it to FWD or AWD. I had a set of studded snows on the Crown and never had any issues getting around. Anyway. love your reviews. Keep up the good work!
I had a ‘99 P71 that I took off-roading deep into the woods of central Florida and got thru a few thick spots that others with a more proper vehicle for the trails ended up gettin caught up in.. it was soo much fun!
I've been in the back seat these for 2 different short drive field trips in school and they were both police cars and still used by the department. I still remember how they ride and they are comfortable. As a gamer, I get PTSD from them being behind me, I out ran everything from a Chevorolet Impala, to BMW to Lamborghini police cars but was never able to shake off the Crown Victoria easily no matter what I was in. Whatever it is you want from a Crown Victoria, it will always exceed expectations ❤️
Even though i dont know how to drive, but i love seeing your videos driving some nice old cars and people who let you borrow their car to drive, i love it💖
There’s something comforting about the combination of this V8 and the transmission whine. I’ve always wanted one of these. Getting hard to find! I wish Ford would bring them back!
I’ve had the pleasure of driving a P71 along with it’s platform mate the Grand Marquis. Love these panther platform cars! Easily in my top 5 of all time.
I owned a 2004 CVLX. All options. The best option was the temp and fan speed buttons on the steering wheel. So nice. But it became an electrical nightmare. I still miss it.
1:47 Very true, this engine is what got me into mustangs. Not even a ford guy but I like mustangs and knew this engine was used in cop cars, taxis, everything in the late 90s early 2k so it had to be solid
Ah, the Ford modular V8. I still feel it’s the best sounding modern V8 from the Big 3, whether laid back in this Crown Vic, or a newer high HP Coyote. Cool car!
Holy shit, I love panthers and remember searching whether this channel had a video on one back when I discovered it. This is an awesome surprise, thanks for taking a look at one!
I used to have a grand marquis. My friends and i all handed it down to each other. Im the oldest friend but i was the last to receive it. When she worked, she was the best vehicle i ever owned. I can still remember how the interior smelled, that unique leather smell ive never noticed anywhere else. Ash trays literally everywhere. Relatively fast. So big. Miss that thing so much. Sadly it ended up having loads of problems, and then when i got it to pass inspection the steering rod fell out on the way home. It was scrapped.
The Panther platform was my childhood with all the taxis I took with my dad, I never knew how good I had it until I became a car guy 😆 now I’m actively looking for a cheaper car once I finish school and I can’t go wrong with this
Great cars I miss them wish they still make them. My grandmother also has one right now 2009 model except hers is the mercury grand marquis and we were blessed to have her 2000 model and her 1996 model grand marquis but she gave us both.
Love these cars and can't wait to own a second! Have a 2001 Grand Marquis LS, just got done doing timing chains over the weekend! Added a rear swaybar earlier this year. I prefer the 98-02 , something about the way these cars drive with the steering box feels "right" to me. Objectively better is the rack and pinion in the 03+, but it just doesn't feel like a boat. To what you said about getting car sick - mine has good shocks and my dog hates to ride in it. I think too plush? If I take out the back seat bottom cushion she will ride back there. Mine has been great in the snow. 180 pounds of weight in the trunk and some skinny snows and it passes everything.
Man I love it. Everyone wants fast and features and stuff. You don't get this kind of smooth comfort and reliability anymore. My 2016 camry was really comfy and smooth but not as big as that car.
The highway patrol in Colorado used these for decades. They put snow tires on all 4 wheels and they were able to patrol all the mountain passes in the worst snow storms.
I’m a manual aficionado for sure, but I will say I love to see the shifter on the steering column. Just reminds me of being a kid and just feels right for some reason! 😊
My best memory of a Crown Victoria other than my dad renting a Crown Victoria for a road trip on its last model year, was being in basic training in Ft. Leonard Wood and rushing to get back to the company before our liberty was up, and absolutely packing the car with privates. There must have been five in the back seat. There was a taxi company on the base that was using old Crown Vics that were former MP cars.
These Panther platform Fords are the last and ultimate full-size, body-on-frame American sedan, a lineage that stretched back to the 1950s. This formula, which no longer exists in modern cars, was basically perfected by the time Ford built these in the late 1990s. They were supremely affordable, comfortable, practical, and reliable, the result of a manufacturing system that had been slowly tweaked and perfected for decades. In many ways they have still not been bettered. Even the handling is not as bad as one would think particularly on air suspension models. I'm convinced that most people if given the chance to try out a nice Panther like this one would favor it over their current bloated marketing-designed appliance car.
reminds me of the ford falcons of australia of the same era. highly reliable, durable and capable cars. 4.0 litre straight 6 with a lot of torque for what they were, the fuel economy also wasnt bad for big v6 with a 4 speed auto.
Man I love this car, built like a tank, I want one so bad but the yearly taxes for this motors in Romania are way to expensive, ending up to 1200 dollars each year just because the engine and it's size.
I always wanted the police interceptor too, but I gotta tell you, those things are rough around the edges, the back seats virtually unusable, and often require lots of maintenance despite the crown vics good reputation of reliability because they were used and abused. A clean one like this is far more usable, but with the same style. In south florida atleast, a clean crown vic is incredibly rare, usually the only clean examples are grand marquis
That's propably the highest power and heat load that engine has ever been at. These to church and back cars can really benefit from an italian tune up even if they seem fine otherwise.
I had a mercury grand marquis park lane edition and it was the second best car I’ve ever owned. This this is a runner, is comfortable, does great on gas for a v8. It’s also super reliable and surprisingly with good tires goes right through the snow because of the weight and shape.
A little sad the grandson didn’t want the car his grandmother willed to him. But at least the car, well taken care of, can continue being under the best care

The Crown Vics were great to own and road trip with. Easy to maintain, parts were cheap and it had the space to carry people and their stuff.
Only 200hp is quite surprising, now we have a 1.6L 3 cylinder that makes almost 4 times the power. That sound cant be beat though
The only difference now is, these new vehicles depend on turbos to achieve the same result. If that turbo goes, that car is worthless.

I had the same car from my father, a 2002 model. Believe me, it is better than most new cars. Also, it is from Saudi Arabia. The car is distinguished by the fact that it had two exhaust ports and a larger radiator due to the weather.
Been looking forward to this ever since I saw the instagram post. Car is in beautiful shape!!😊
This is the best review yet… as a Panther Platform enthusiast.
I've heard a lot of people say it's the best sounding engine ever.
"I'd rather have something underpowered that can make it to 500k miles than some unreliable turd that has a 0-60 that is 1 second faster."
In one single sentence you just described everything that's wrong with the modern Ford company. In these trying times, absolutely nobody with half a brain will take a risk of a car that won't make it hundreds of thousands of miles. Which is why Ford is constantly breathing it's dying breath, only to be saved by chicken taxes and "American jobs" excuses.
@@feynk6671the 4.6 4V is the best but the 2V and 3V are very good.
I came here to see a classic Crown Vic, but watching a 1999 Crown Vic through Plymouth took me right back to my childhood. Thanks for the great video!
The drive shaft whirl and over boosted steering are part of what makes this car.

God loves you.💝🦾
I love the Ford Factoria car, and I used to own one from the year 1997. It was black in color. Thank you for making us happy with these beautiful industries
that made us comfortable.🥺💝
What an immaculate example! And the front chrome grille looks really nice too. What a nice find, I can tell he will really enjoy that car for years to come.
Chris/Paul, a fun ride. Thank you for taking us along...
I have Mercury Grand Marquis one of the most beautiful cars I used Thank you for making this car
I prefer the simplicity of these cars. It just works, no excessive computers, etc.
I have a mountaineer with a 4.6 3v. They all sound amazing and deliver power beautifully
The days of the $500 Hooptie are gone
Finally the crown vic 🤩
I'm from England and the Crown Vic is my all time favourite American car. I just love them!
Love the old reviews love the sound of the 4.6
Me too
I'm not a Ford fan but my oh my what a beauty! Back when real cars had column shifters.
I have really enjoyed this one. Ford crown Victoria, one of my favorite vehicles to watch on this show.
From Bill.

South Australia.
What a beautiful example of the last Cown Victoria. My mom used to have a 1981Ford LTD and it was a great car for many many years.
Icon... Greetings from Europe, and wish the owner many happy miles!
Keep up the good work!
kingly car 👑
this car is defiantly in LEGEND tier list cars
TheTopher makes the best videos ever :)
I wish Ford would bring them back!
i drove 11 years a grand marquis same model, just a verry good car never had big problems and drives great.
I love Topher driving these old 80s and 90s american cars ❤
This is one of the quintessential cars for me. I love everything about it.
Sometimes, if you love something, you have to let it go.
The Panther platform was my childhood with all the taxis I took with my dad, I never knew how good I had it until I became a car guy 😆 now I’m actively looking for a cheaper car once I finish school and I can’t go wrong with this
I really enjoy the up-shift sound of the engine and transmission. woooo~~ | woooo~~, nowadays very few cars have this charming sound.
This car is emblematic of a better time.
Great cars I miss them wish they still make them. My grandmother also has one right now 2009 model except hers is the mercury grand marquis and we were blessed to have her 2000 model and her 1996 model grand marquis but she gave us both.
So clean.
I LOOOOVE this kind of cheap car review!!!
Don't get me wrong I own 2 crown victorias.
The leather looks like the leather in my 2007 Buick. Great stuff.
Perfect review 👍👍👍🚘
My uncle had a 1998 Grand Marquis. The only problem he had with it was the heater core kept failing. He replaced it multiple times.
Man I love it. Everyone wants fast and features and stuff. You don't get this kind of smooth comfort and reliability anymore. My 2016 camry was really comfy and smooth but not as big as that car.
I heard that people from Michigan and Ohio hate each other. It is nice to see you two getting along. The world can learn from this.
We don’t hate each other, haha. It’s just the 40+ y/o college football weirdos who feel that way.
The First gear whine kf the 4r70 brings back memories, i had an F150 with the 4.6, most reliable truck i ever had!
Love my 2010 grand Marquis. Amazing daily
Nice car take care of it, i agree on keeping it stock
My first car is a 2009 Ford Crown Victoria police interceptor so big respect for this review. It'd be cool if you can review an interceptor next
this is like a larger version of the australian "Ford Falcon." Really neat car, never seen one, but they look nice on video.
this car seat is way comfier than many cars . design may be old but seats are comfortable.
We had a 94 CV LX, bought new. Traded it in for two sub-compacts. Dumbest move ever. It was the best long distance cruiser we ever owned.
This car will outlast anything built today!
Right!
gorgeous car
