I've been riding a Sur Ron some 2 yrs by now and rode 6000+ km already. The only upgrade I did was a 58 sprocket. That's all. If I'm to spend $2000 for other improvements then I'd rather buy a new KTM or something. What I'm trying to say is that I like Sur Ron the way it is besides I keep it in my apartment and I don't think I'd like to keep a KTM next to my bed). Tnx for the review.
I knew you were an MX guy as soon as you mentioned the Motul slacker! Been racing myself for almost 40 years. Really considering one of these E-bikes this next year. Great vid my man!
That was an awesome review. Thank you for being as unbiased as possible. As an owner of a 2021 Sur Ron X Black Edition, I was wondering about how the Talaria compares. I've invested close to $5,000. in upgrades to my Sur Ron so far, and the fact that I am only 5'4" convinced me to keep what I got. Besides, iIt's about as much as I can handle. LOL.
@Ted Kanemitsu Right on! You've got a great bike in the Sur Ron! It's definitely easy to spent $5K on these bikes. So many cool aftermarket parts to pick from! Glad you're enjoying it and thanks for the note 👍
I think the Talaria is the better choice for most people over 5'8. You'd save money of height mods and chain drive swap alone. Most of the functional mods for the Sur Ron are also already compatible or quickly becoming available for the Talaria (suspension, sprockets, controllers, batteries, etc). I went with the Talaria because I felt it was a better structural platform.
@Carlitos R You bring up some great points. The size of the Talaria straight away is a huge benefit. As you say, plenty of bolt-on options to upgrade the Talaria too and many power/battery upgrades coming soon.
@@philkyburz5882 Yeah, I think so. Just get some riser bars and maybe a lifted direct mount stem. There are also seat risers available, should you feel you need one.

Have you heard any specifics on the Talaria Factory fork that are on the EbikeZilla's September delivery schedule. The bikes shipping in August are coming with a FastAce fork. Previous out of stock models were sold with DMN and Manitou. Would appreciate your input on those forks, won't be pushing hard like I used to but once you have good suspension it spoils you. I'm 64, riding for 54 years, last bike was a '11 300XC. Ready to pull the trigger on the Talaria as my riding clock could expire anytime. Thank you.
Just came across your video and noticed you mention GoPro camera shutting off unexpectedly. I recently noticed that too on my cameras, however there's a quick fix for it. I think by default, it's set to shut off automatically in 15 minutes. In the menu there is an option to turn that off to "Never". Hope that helps. It's very frustrating if you didn't know that option exist but it does.
The price of these is more reasonable than I would have thought. I was thinking of getting a motorcycle but I may just go this route as I'm more interested in having something for fun instead of to commute.

I have wanted a sur ron for a while. Then I seen the sting. bought it. I LOVE it!! Stock gearing SUCKS for anyone over 150 lbs.(off road). In full riding gear i am around 200 lbs. I run a 56 rear and it is a whole new world!! All off road I should say. It wheelies sooo good now. Stock is almost a chore to wheelie. And it still goes over 40mph. Never tested stock vs 56. It feels way faster though. AND more battery life. I have 500 miles on mine now. Great bike for bigger or taller people. Still a small bike.

Just spoke with a dealer in Sydney Australia and she swears by Talaria due to its gearbox and that Sur Ron’s belt keeps on breaking, apparently Costco are also selling it here in Australia and there has been quite a few Sur Rons returned due to missing parts or being non functional. Apparently there’s no price difference either, so Talaria Sting here I come
I sat on one that was on display at costco. The appeal of something a bit bigger was instant. The only thing that keeps drawing me back to the Sur Ron is that you can now get it registered in Australia. Much easier for you in NSW I believe as it can be done on delivery. In QLD it seems you have to apply for your own VIN number and then get it registered yourself
@HowAboutNowDad It roughly took 50 minutes to get to that point. The range really depends on a few factors, one main one being the terrain. I would say this test I did is a good median reference. If you're on a full MX track or wide open road, range/time will be less. If you're on single track or slower technical terrain, range/time will be more.
thanks for the vid, I was wondering if the sur ron is good for a 6.2ft rider ?? and I'm kind of the same rider as you cuz I would use the Sur Ron for a bit of jump and stuff but mostly speed and flowy trials, to work and school. keep the good vid up

Can you test out the totally wicked xr12? I like that it has pedals as well because you can take on the roads better and sounds like they are fast but would like a real review of one
The SurRon frame design is SO much cleaner than the Talaria's box style, looks awful imo. I went with the SurRon for the aftermarket parts & community. The Talaria should have been "better" but it just made a bunch of trade offs instead, total bummer.
@Ian For sure, I agree the Sur Ron frame design is more aesthetically pleasing. The Talaria frame is noticeably larger and stiffer though, two benefits that I personally value over looks! You're right about the aftermarket parts and community though. Plenty of options to improve the bike and fix some of the ergonomic pain points on the bike. As I said at the end of the video, it's pretty hard to pick a winner because I would modify both bikes to be, as you say, "better". Thanks for the note! 👍
@Phi Tonics 1. If the bikes could be alphabets, the Sur-Ron would be cursive and the Talaria would be print. 2. If the bikes could be automobiles, the Sur-Ron would be a car and the Talaria would be a truck. The Talaria has a harder edge.
Only three minutes into the video… *I just wanna let everyone know, that in the USA almost every place you buy a SurRon from will be about three to $400 cheaper than the talaria! I’m not quite sure why his references are opposite* but this is the majority of most dealers.
Here in Canada the prices listed on the Talaria site are 400$ CAD cheaper. I don't own one, I haven't started the process of purchasing one either. I know it can change once you get to the dealer. But they appear to be less expensive here.
@Marko Polo Prices fluctuate and my references are where I got these specific bikes from. If I made a list of every dealer's current MSRP, by the time you're watching it, the price will have likely changed again. It's up to the viewer to do their research when they're ready to buy one of these: bit.ly/ECRMarketplace
Don’t forget to note the talaria has less steering travel as the front of the bike is larger. Also, did you notice the back of the Talaria has an issue with the pin which is not quite the right size so there is play?
This is a bit off topic. What hydration pack are you wearing? I have been looking for something like it with pockets on the front side of the shoulder straps.
I think I know what they doing for me it like it’s almost this same company, looks like next year there will be most amazing Sur-Ron as Talaria elevates the standards. Still don’t know which one but probably Talaria as I am taller guy hoping for good evolution of the product. There is apparently lots of parts which fits both. By the way I am looking for super moto 12” rims/wheels in anodised coloured aluminium probably gold or black gloss, streets tires. Give me a shout if you know contact in Europe or US. Best review I have seen so far. Thank You very much
Couldn’t you counter that talaria battery shake with some rubber type spaced or some sticky sided weather shield foam. Where 1 sided like sticky other like a firm black hardened foam?
You're going to have to do some serious mods if you want to ride it off road at that weight. Main issue will be that the suspension can't handle that weight stock, you'll need at minimum stiffer springs. Too much spring though and you have damping issues. You'll also likely find the power a bit underwhelming, depending on what you're used to, however a larger sprocket will fix that, as a trade off for some speed. Another thing would be really raising the handle bars and re-inforcing the pegs.
@@dirkmohrmann8960 thanks for the info! I just plan on riding it to work and the reason this appeals to me more than just a normal E Bike is simply because it doesn’t have pedals and is solely throttle. Do you think I could get by commuting without changing the suspension?
@@holdenc2636 It is going to feel small on you, no doubt but if you're just commuting on the road, I think you'd be fine. Just stiffen the preload in the shock and add the max PSI to the fork. Taller handlebars/bar risers (check the description for those) and a 21" if you're feeling ambitious and you'd do fine. If you do, make sure to report back here and let us know how it goes!
@@ElectricCycleRider thank you for the advice! I have rather short legs at a 30-32 inch inseam so I think with some riser handlebars I can make it work
Man I was thinking a sur ron because I Love the Look and and full seat that you can get with the 4MF Moto Kit.. But the Talaria has a Gearbox Taller + stiffer/stronger swingarm. lol idk what to get.. well I can not afford either one right now but I'm thinking for the future lol
Pros and cons to both for sure! You can't really go wrong with either but depends how much you want to modify. The 4MF kit with 21"/18" wheels makes the Sur Ron quite a bit bigger and you can get an aftermarket swingarm and peg braces to stiffen it up some... quite a lot of options! The gearbox on the Talaria is definitely cool. Decisions... Decisions... Decisions... 👍
I am looking for a commuter bike, was thinking mountain bike, but electric seems like what I am going to do! I Clooked at the One WHEEL.... THEN, I STUMBLED ON TO THESE!! like the way they look, it would definitely take care of all of my commuter needs....., just 2 questions... What is the weight limit on these??? I am 6'1" 220lbs!!! and 2.... what is the name of that shop in Jersey City for the battery mod???

@@ElectricCycleRider Thanks man. I have the Talaria, been working on a build and picked up the Ohlins suspension. But someone said I'll be disappointed because I'm a heavier rider who has 20 years in mtb/dh/mx. So before I complete my build, I'm trying to figure out if there's a better option as I've almost doubled my investment in this over the original cost lol... Appreciate the vids, its helping all of us figure out how to config these new genre bikes!!!
@@joshream3164 Hell yeah man. That's awesome! I almost went Ohlins on this next build but trying some new stuff instead. Did you get the Ohlins DH38 fork? Or the TTX22 shock also?
@@ElectricCycleRider DH38 with TTX22 on the rear. From what I'm reading, the front should hold, although Justin at Gritshift said all MTB forks eventually bend at the damper rod if you ride aggressive. Hoping thats not the case given your vids you seem to ride those 40's pretty agro. Need to find a beefier spring for the rear, Ohlins only goes up to 411lbs rating, I need a 600 or 650 with my weight and riding style. Excited to see your moto forks build !
@Josh Ream For sure. The Ohlins stuff is nice but still suffers from being MTB specific. Check out the EBMX rear shock. Another option is the EXT rear shock. 👍
Gr8 video man! I totally agree for the price, both these bikes are amazing! You could get one of each for the same price as a 600cc motorcycle, so to me it's a no brainer. I think for shorter riders (like me) Sur ron would be a better fit.
@Vincent Johnston Right on man! The low cost of entry definitely opens up a lot of options for people, which is really cool. Are you riding a Sur Ron right now?
@@ElectricCycleRider hello! yes i was Scotland's first owner of the LB road legal in April, i've put up a couple of moto vlogs on my channel if you'd like to see my experiences so far :)
Is the seat on the talaria uncomfortable because it pushes you forward on the bike too much and also have you noticed the turning radios is bigger on the talaria and is that a problem
Coming from a KTM 525 EXC and 29" mountain bike back ground, I'm curious how you like the KTM Freeride vs. these much lighter, closer to mountain bike type experience? I see you are riding the SAME trail you took the Sur-ron Storm Bee and Freeride on. I know it is probably a crazy question, but it is nearly impossible to get anyone to rent/test ride any of these. To me, a $4500 Talaria Sting R sounds pretty amazing...Still, I think I'd have about $3k in EBMX 9000 controller and 72V/42Ah in upgrades pretty quick...
The only reason I could justify buying one of these for that price of 5k, is if you could drive it on roads and bicycle trails as well. Not ripping it going max speed on bike trails but just cruising on them at 15-20 mph would be so convenient getting to and from work
hello, greetings from me, deny ahmadi from Indonesia. I wish you continued success, and the videos are entertaining and useful, I really want to have an electric bicycle but can't afford it. but what is the power I'm just a school driver. keep it up
I can't have respect for a company that ripped off 95% of its design from their former employer. Even the name ffs: "light bee" -> "sting". If you're going to enter the market, innovate.
When the company doesn’t want to listen to your ideas of making it better then to hell with them. I’m glad they made a more ridged new bike. Also all the dirt bike companies do the same thing that’s how you push each other to make better bikes.
@@chipper9178 I fully support competition and innovation, but these guys ripped off almost everything from Surron. Even the shitty things like the design of the seat, position of the battery, the 19" wheels, the design of the swingarm...I could go on. And I'm willing to bet most of the parts are being made by the same suppliers. This isn't modelling success; it's theft.
The Talaria is the better machine. Props to the Sur Ron for building a great platform for the Talaria to build apon but the Talaria is superior in many ways. However like Sur Ron Talaria will some day be improved apon and the cycle will continue like most things. But for now Talaria is King

You're right about the aftermarket parts and community though. Plenty of options to improve the bike and fix some of the ergonomic pain points on the bike. As I said at the end of the video, it's pretty hard to pick a winner because I would modify both bikes to be, as you say, "better". Thanks for the note! 👍
@Phi Tonics
1. If the bikes could be alphabets, the Sur-Ron would be cursive and the Talaria would be print.
2. If the bikes could be automobiles, the Sur-Ron would be a car and the Talaria would be a truck.
The Talaria has a harder edge.
im getting the Surron known it for almost 3 years now only road it 2 times for test ride at local dealer
Does talaria have the snow kit?
That's funny, because a year ago, Surron dealers were stroking the prices way up.
when are they going to do bike racing ?
How tall are you. And how comfortable would this bike for simply trail cruising.
Do they have the same rear hub?
@POVids They have slightly different rear hubs. Front hubs are the same.
How fast are both in stock form please? I may have missed that info in post???
So many channels I watch have that same go pro issue
@Lukasz P Surron? What is that??
What’s your backpack?
250 pounds without going out and purchasing aftermarket shocks & forks. Which bikes will hold The weight?
what is the mileage range on both bikes?
What about the cab-eagle in the works for a compare-oo.. do you prefer these two . Or what do you thing about a real hub motor
Don’t forget to note the talaria has less steering travel as the front of the bike is larger. Also, did you notice the back of the Talaria has an issue with the pin which is not quite the right size so there is play?
What is a pin? Have no issues with my rear wheel at all
They fixed this on the 2023. There’s a review on our channel.
This is a bit off topic. What hydration pack are you wearing? I have been looking for something like it with pockets on the front side of the shoulder straps.
Hi how much would you expect to pay for a used 2022 MX3 with low kms in CAD?
I think I know what they doing for me it like it’s almost this same company, looks like next year there will be most amazing Sur-Ron as Talaria elevates the standards. Still don’t know which one but probably Talaria as I am taller guy hoping for good evolution of the product. There is apparently lots of parts which fits both.
By the way I am looking for super moto 12” rims/wheels in anodised coloured aluminium probably gold or black gloss, streets tires. Give me a shout if you know contact in Europe or US.
Best review I have seen so far.
Thank You very much
any reason youd set the air spring on the forks at the same pressure? is zeroed out wide open?
Couldn’t you counter that talaria battery shake with some rubber type spaced or some sticky sided weather shield foam. Where 1 sided like sticky other like a firm black hardened foam?
I’m 6 feet 5 240 pounds
I would be keeping it stock
Which one would be better for a big dude
I’m 6’5 and about 250 do u think I’m too big for even the talaria?
I just purchased the talaria
@@hurbsgaming Awesome man. Enjoy it!
@@hurbsgaming nice man enjoy!!🤘🙃🤘
will motocross go electric soon?
Will they eventually put license plates on these bikes? I hope not
Got one on my drone 😂
Nice
Can you put street tires on the Surron 🤔
Ya
Did you ever try a 21" on the Talaria?
I am looking for a commuter bike, was thinking mountain bike, but electric seems like what I am going to do! I Clooked at the One WHEEL.... THEN, I STUMBLED ON TO THESE!! like the way they look, it would definitely take care of all of my commuter needs....., just 2 questions... What is the weight limit on these??? I am 6'1" 220lbs!!! and 2.... what is the name of that shop in Jersey City for the battery mod???
Yo i need to know ur height pls cuz u said it needed a bar raise or smth and i wanna compare heights
I just wonder about my size and weight plus bag I'm 6'3 at 260 minus pack I don't mind gas but I'd love to get into the electric options
Colorado soooo…y’all have goat heads too. How thick are these tires? Do you slime them? I’m in the desert and it’s thorn central.
How fast does those bikes go because I'm trying to get a dirtbike a gas one but I don't got that money so my friend told me try an electric bike I'm trying to look for a good bike
Whats your thoughts on MTB suspension vs say KTM 85 forks?
@Josh Ream If you follow along for the next handful of videos, I might just tell you directly. Wink, wink. 👍
have you ridden trail #819 ? its my favorite
what sag are you running on the talaria? i have the same tool and run 60mm sag
@Master Right on. I run closer to 50-55mm on the stock bike.
How to booking in online in Indian price how much how much in bicycle price
@Vincent Johnston Awesome!
Is the seat on the talaria uncomfortable because it pushes you forward on the bike too much and also have you noticed the turning radios is bigger on the talaria and is that a problem
From what I experienced it doesn’t really affect me and isn’t really noticeable unless you really try to think of it.
They changed this with the new 2023 model. I have a video covering it.
Can you get these bikes tagged? Are they street legal?
They count as ebikes
What is the name of the music at the beginning
What's the weight capacity for these bikes?
I absolutely love the new surron forks however im only 140 lbs.
There is a sur ron on the website listed as $0.00 is that actually free or is it an error?
How Much Dis Trial Bike
The only reason I could justify buying one of these for that price of 5k, is if you could drive it on roads and bicycle trails as well. Not ripping it going max speed on bike trails but just cruising on them at 15-20 mph would be so convenient getting to and from work
thats what im saying like.. lemme ride my motorcycle on the bike paths. if im going 10 mph what the difference for real...
I drive my surron everywhere, I use it almost daily to go to work and have no problems
@@ButchGremlin where do you park it?
Price comparison?
hello, greetings from me, deny ahmadi from Indonesia.
The owner of surron could have f’ed this dudes wife or something. Someone got stung and they just made v2 monster.
@@alexh6738 Lol, yeah who knows. That theory is as good as any.
Oma who gives a shit about your opinion
MPH'S? ALSO, STREET LEGAL?
The Talaria is the better machine. Props to the Sur Ron for building a great platform for the Talaria to build apon but the Talaria is superior in many ways. However like Sur Ron Talaria will some day be improved apon and the cycle will continue like most things. But for now Talaria is King
