How To Fill Antifreeze - Dodge Neon - Some Imports - Middle Radiator Cap Models - Remove Air

  • The Dodge Neon has a different radiator system then most cars. The cap is located on the engine side with a filler type neck.
    Because of this design when you run out of antifreeze you can't just refill it and drive away. Its a 5 to 10 minute process to remove air from the system. This is an easy how to video with music. Enjoy

    205,000 miles on our 2004 SXT 2.0 and it has been the best car we have ever owned. What a trooper! BTW, the factory service manual says that if you fill the coolant right up to the cap, and fill the over flow up to the full mark the system will deaerate on it own during the course of three to four complete heat cycles. It will not self aerate at idle. It has to be run on the road to deaerate properly. Just FYI.

    I bought this car for track purposes but fell in love with how small and nimble it is. Got it plated and now is my DD. This vid saved me $90 something bucks. I was about to buy the bleed tool and those things are not cheap! Can't rent one either.

    That seems complicated and I wonder why they used that design to begin with. Maybe it would generate more income for them doing repairs from people not knowing the process to add antifreeze to begin with. Thanks for the tutorial. I'm glad I Hong have that kind of vehicle. Hope you have a great day!

      The Dodge neon is an economy car, it's not designed to make money. The engineers can't thing of everything.

      @@KinnyMoreno84 No but i finally decided to get it fix, it was the water pump I don't know your model but mine was the one the runs on the timing belt. Have to remove a power steering pump the belts tensioner etc to get to it. If that's your model I'll suggest you replace not only the water pump but timing belt and tensioner since is all there. Also check your motor mount mine was done and have to be replaced.
      Water pump kit from autozone:
      Wp245k2a $119.99
      Engine mount from O'Reilly:
      Ptq b2947 $59.99.
      I hope this help. My neon is a 2.0 engine.

    Factory service manual and Haynes service manual both say to add coolant via the coolant reservoir. I followed your advice in this video and ended up with air in the system. So??

    I would love to meet the guys what design this screwy stuff on cars. I'll have a bone to pick with them - KFC or Popeyes chicken doesn't matter. In this Dodge Neon instance, I'm guessing the designer was high on something or mentally disturbed - or both. Yikes! Thanks for putting his DIY vid up for those who owns one and had no idea how its done. RUclips has saved my life with DIY videos done by lots of awesome folks like yourself.

    • @greenbaywacky
      @greenbaywacky  4 года назад

      usually 3 things if its cranking. Not getting gas, not getting spark, and worst case is broken timing belt. Don't rule out running out of gas itself, sometimes we forget and run low and need a gas can actually.
