    Thank you; most other tutorials are for UEFI and the ones about legacy BIOS are complicated or most people say it doesn't work. This worked first try, no issues, so thanks!

    Worked like a charm.. jst a mention that if command prompt is not opening from the advanced startup options, try like 4 to 5 times, it should open. I faced this issue and did the same to makit work.

    Hi! I made a mistake and installed Windows in Legacy mode and Linux in UEFI mode. Will your method work in that case? Thanks

    • @DrewHowdenTech
      @DrewHowdenTech  2 года назад +2

      I’m actually not sure. You might actually have to wipe the whole drive and reinstall Windows. Make sure to back everything up beforehand.
      In the future, select either Legacy or UEFI mode-I personally suggest UEFI mode, unless you have a reason why you need to use Legacy mode-when you format the drive and install the first operating system, then never change it until you wipe the WHOLE drive again.

      Thanks you very much. I tried your instructions and it worked. However I've got one problem. I can delete linux partition and it makes free space but when I try to delete it for the second time (to make unlocated space) it says that there is too little free space on that disk. Is there a chance you know what to do in that case?

      You will need a Ubuntu ISO to do this procedure.
      First, boot into the Ubuntu ISO, and click "Try Ubuntu".
      Then, open Terminal, and run the command below:
      efibootmgr
      Then, find Ubuntu's "boot number" (to the left of "ubuntu"), and run the command below:
      sudo efibootmgr -B [boot number] (example: sudo efibootmgr -B 0000)
      Tell me if that fixes the problem.

    • @DrewHowdenTech
      @DrewHowdenTech  4 года назад +1

      By the way, for future reference, if you want to install an OS on a dual-boot configuration, make sure that both OSes are installed in the same BIOS mode. For example, if Windows is installed in Legacy mode, make sure that you install Ubuntu in Legacy mode.

    Can I do it from a Win 10 iso? Because I have Windows 7

    • @DrewHowdenTech
      @DrewHowdenTech  Год назад +1

      I don't think so, but you can try. Just be sure that your PC boots straight into Windows 7--WITHOUT showing the GRUB menu--before you delete your Ubuntu partition.

    • @DrewHowdenTech
      @DrewHowdenTech  Год назад +1

      By the way, because Windows 7 is no longer receiving security updates, I strongly suggest that you upgrade to Windows 10; or even better, switch to Linux.
