    Just made these with SRF,salted butter, vanilla and cinnamon extract and they are quite good. Tip: don’t flatten the cookies out too much on the pan and keep the cookie balls small. I did two batches and the best batch was finished in 7-8 minutes. 11 minutes made for crunchy cookies with some brown on the sides and bottom

      I know it’s a late comment! But you can always add vanilla extract and sometimes nutmeg to give the cookies more flavor and kind of detract from the baking soda/powder flavor. Vanilla extract gives cookies more depth generally anyways, just don’t add more than 1/2 a teaspoon for recipes you haven’t tried modifying before.

      @@cookmefood what if it’s too wet?

    • @cookmefood
      @cookmefood  2 года назад +8

      Hello! @Aquaticproducts. Normally with 2 and ¾ cups of flour (in this recipe), cookie dough should not be overly wet or sticky. However, if it’s too wet, you can either chill it longer (more than an hour) or add more flour. If you use the latter technique, try adding 1 tablespoon of flour at a time and mix until combine. You do not want to add too much, as you’ll end up with crumbly and dry cookies that don’t spread. Hope this helps.😊

    I adjusted the recipe a slight bit to fit my taste. (If you're interested in trying it ...) The cooking time is perfect at exactly 11 minutes. I use bread flour instead of all purpose and I only add 2 1/2 cups of that flour instead of 2 3/4. It had a powder like taste to it, I didn't like with the extra 1/4 cup (all purpose and bread). I added one tsp of vanilla extract to give a touch more flavor and I don't roll them in sugar. I don't like the granulated feel and it doesn't hurt to leave out a little sugar for something already pretty sweet.
    Anyways, I didn't have a go to Sugar cookie recipe, with a couple tweaks it's perfect. Thanks for posting it, I really appreciate it!

    If a cup of butter is too much, apple sauce can be used as a substitute, however when baking you must flatten cookies (less butter, less slippery/oily). This is also good because this recipe has more dry than wet, so applesauce will help with the mixing.

    some of these videos tell how much you should make this. and that's it, I'm not a good baker but when I want something sweet to eat all by myself and easy sugar cookies are the easiest and you can use your imagination add anything to it.that in your pantry ,II also was thinking to add my favorite candy bars pay day these have caramel and peanuts. and my nephew favorite Kit Kat wafers bars to add to them. Possibly are endless. ❤

    Thank you for posting this! It's simple and to the point! Also done by hand and not a mixer lol. This is a great base recipe! Can probs tweak it quite a few ways yo make different cookies. Like a lemon zest or almond extract ... maybe even crush up some oreos and make a marbled sugar cookie.
    Thanks again!

    Definitely saving this video! You can change what sugar you're using (all white, dark brown, a mix of white and light brown, etc.) and even add salt (I tried it with salted butter) and they're all turn out great (albeit with different taste & texture).
    Oh, and I did end up changing how long to cook them based on when the dough starts cracking. Seems to be easier to guage when its done, considering everyone's oven is different even when set at 350°F
