The two Grants items, peaked my interest. W.T.Grants was a department store chain, that went out in the late 60s, maybe early 70s. They may have had a store line brand of tools. Never came across any, myself, but the name took me back. The store was in Chelmsford, Ma. For three bucks, you got quite a haul! Thanks for taking me back, to a time long gone!
Thanks for watching Lyle! Check out my video on those Grants awls!

LOL, it's amazing you have the United Nations collection of wrenches. At 3$ I think it's a bargain, your wife is a keeper my friend.
Mrs Magdad is the best!
Easco is a Mfg in Arkansas. They made the Craftsman wrenches, among others for other companies! My brother’s father in law was an engineer for them.
Great find!’
I think the v series Craftsman that came out of the box were made by Easco.
They made the sockets for Craftsman, too, at one time, I think.
I have the exact same craftsman toolbox without the bottom rust. Mine still has the red top tray. Recently tapped out mom’s stuff of the dents and cleaned it real good and painted the outside original silver/gray and the top tray red.
I think I have two similar craftsman boxes now - both missing the trays.
Love it when he calls the scratch awls poky things. lol
Here's where the name came from!
ruclips.net/video/fDRz-ddVQsw/видео.html
A repetition of a journey I have taken many times. I loved it!
Thanks John! Yard sale are fun!
I can’t wait to watch you restore some of the cool stuff from this. The knife, the plumbers wrench, the push-drill. Let’s do it!
I did a video on the Craftsman ratchet and a video on the Floating Fulcrum pruners is on the way!
I bought a set of Craftsman tools in a box like that which also came with a tray. This was back in the 60’s . I still have them although several of the sockets are cracked. I could have exchanged them for new ones but I waited to long.
Thanks for watching Michael! Keep an eye out for replacements at yard sales.
Craftsman is lifetime warranty😢 the quality is not the same😂 you should still be able to change cracked sockets for new ones😊
You got a BUNCH of little treasures in there!!!! Good Eye Mrs. Magdad 🇺🇸
Mrs Magdad knows what I like!
Hello Magdad great purchase! The knife and the pipe wrench are my favorite 👍🇺🇸
The knife seems to be popular with viewers!
Great tool haul. I liked everything but favorites were the stillson pattern pipe wrench and the ignition pliers. Also looking forward to seeing how the jack knife turns out.
I'm looking forward to working on that pocket knife!
Dude! Great haul! 👍👍👀 Can't wait to see what you and Chuck do with the pocket knife!
I hope we can get the pocket knife pretty enough to Flitz!
Wow you got a great deal. I like the craftsman wrenches and the Kamp king. Thanks 😊🙏
Thanks Mike! I'm hoping I can get that Craftsman socket wrench freed up!
That was awesome!! I can’t believe I watched the whole video. I’m a bit of a tool nut myself and recently cut the cord. This was way more entertaining than anything on cable tv. Thanks for putting this out. Hope you follow up with the restoration video. It would be cool to see how some of these tools come out.
I'm glad you watched the whole video Lou! If you like old tool restorations, I have a lot of videos I think you will enjoy! Go ahead and cancel your cable!
@@357magdad I found a cigar box once that was crammed full of machinists tools -- a taper gauge, inside/ outside templates rulers of all sorts. Feeler gauges in metric and SAE Lots of stuff I don't even know what they are for. The lady was only asking 5 bucks for the whole box. The taper gauge alone is a Starrett, probably worth 75 bucks alone. A good find
I like the little wooden handle screwdriver, the pruning sheers, and the C clamp lol I'm a clamp fanatic lol...Great buy !! I can't wait to find my next bucket of rust !! And I like the metal box ! Have done a couple lately but trying to figure out a way to keep some of the patiena..
Some of the rat rod guys like to use Flood Penetrol to preserve the patina.
You couldn't go wrong with a 3 dollar price tag 😄 MD. Great find! 👍
I couldn't get my money out fast enough!
The JC Penney pliers are neat. Looking forward to the pocket knife cleaning and restoration.
Thanks Robert! Me too!
Well worth the 3.00. You have your daughters Christmas presents all the pokey things LOL. I like the pocket knife love to see how it turns out. I have a pair of the JC Penny pliers. A good buy just for the fun. Stay safe and healthy my friend. Thanks
I'm looking forward to working on that pocket knife!
Hey Magdad my favorite part is that box and contents is in your shop and not mine😀 can’t wait to see the patina fly!!
I hope there are a few good projects videos in that box!
Not To Sure But You May Have Found A Tool Kit My Daddy Put Together For Me...Back When I Was a Kid...I'm 68 Now...But, Lots of those Old Tools Sure Look Familiar. Really Fun Remembering. I Know Of Three Times Tools Of My Daddy's were Sold...And These Sure Look Familiar. OBTW.....Any of Those Craftsman Tools That are Unusable...If You Can Find a Dealer ...They Should Replace. God Bless
Thanks for watching Mike! I'm glad my video brought back some fond memories.
The craftsman combination wrenches paid for the entire box 10X nice score. The floating fulcrum pruning shears are my favorite. Very vintage and cool. I’d like to see them restored and cleaned up.
The Craftsman ratchet wrench video is coming very soon. The Floating Fulcrum will be early November.
Love it. Those 'push drills ' are actually Yankee screwdrivers and certain ones are worth a few bucks. Nice haul. I've done the same thing many times. You never know what you'll find. Great video
Check out how that rusty push drill turned out!
ruclips.net/video/Pmzn7tZlK3I/видео.html
Nice $3 haul Magdad! That pocket knife does look to be challenging, but i think you and Chuck are up to the task.🇺🇸😎Roger
I hope we can bring it back to life!
Great 3 bucks for that collection. I love that pocket knife. I used the handle with bits when I worked on TV's.
I plan to do a video on that Rosco set!
@@357magdad That would be cool! Fun times with that box! It'd be good to see the push drills/drivers working again!
I had to come back to this video to answer your question "What's your favorite pick from the tool box?" After watching your video on the restoration of the Kamp King pocket knife, that is my favorite!
Thanks Dennis! The Kamp King came out better than I hoped!
I found a crecent wrench in a coffee can that was apparently full of water at one time. A lot of rust but after wire brush and a little elbow grease and oil it now adjustable and don't look bad, in fact it's usually the one I grab first when I need an adjustable wrench.
It's fun to clean up old rusty tools!
3 bucks well spent.. a good weekend project for you.. looks my old craftsman tool box my dad got me in 8th grade...
I think there's gonna be more than a few weekends wrapped up in the contents of this box!
O Man!..nothing better than a 3 buck Tool box full of Treasure :]....Hope to see that Camp King back in Action!
The Kamp King is definitely gonna be a video!
You did awesome that was a nice toolbox Thank you for the video
A lot of good projects came out of that box!

Hello Again, 357magdad!
As I rather said in my previous reply, a few of those other tools also caught my eye, & I wanted to comment on those as well!
The 1st of those, is that yellow handled Screwdriver Set. My Grandpap bought me a set of those, in 1986 or 87' (along with some other lower-quality tools), from a little discount tool store, in a plaza in Charles Town, WV; near where my family lived @ the time.
He'd just given me an old car of his, & knew I didn't have but very few tools of my own yet, at that time, & thought I ought to be carrying some tools on the road with me.
I never did like those Screw drivers much! LOL!
I always felt that their handles were way too thin, & prevented me from being able to apply enough torque to loosen even the simplest of screws to properly crack 'em loose! Plus I always felt that the tips on the Philips Screwdrivers, were way too blunted!!
They actually wouldn't go into a lot screw heads which I tried to use them on! Even though; they were actually the correct size, otherwise!!
The last tool I want to comment on, is that miniature pair of pliers! My Grandpap always kept a set of those in his tool chest, in the various Auto-Body shops where he worked, & he also kept a pair either in the pants or shirt pocket, of his "everyday clothes" at all times!! :-)
He swore by 'em, & told my Dad & I more than once, that a guy should always keep a pair of those on him, as you could be sure you'd end up needing them for something, at some point or other!
After Pap died, (at age 76), in the Altoona, Pa. Hospital, from Cancer; on July 20, 1988, my Grandma found a set of those little pliers in his pants pocket when she finally went thru them shortly afterward!
I ended up getting those pliers for my own, when I was permitted to claim some of Pap's things, about a week or so after he was laid to rest.
I cleaned them up a bit, & tried always keeping them in my pocket as he did, but that became uncomfortable at times, so I eventually just began carrying THEM, (as well as a couple of Pap's Pocket Knives), in a large Hand Tool Box of my Dad's which I restored around that same time.
Unfortunately, that Tool Box & all of it's contents, were stolen from my Dad's shed in 1993 or '94, by either a "sticky-fingered" neighbor kid, or sibling of mine!!
Both my Dad & I, kept watch at the 2 or 3 Pawn Shops in that area, for several months afterward, but they never did turn up! However; my Dad & I both, got the feeling that one Pawnbroker was lying to us, when he said he'd never received the box, nor the tools! Grrr!
Well enough of my "rambling on" LOL!! (as my Grandma would call it)!! :-)
Again, I sure enjoyed this video, & seeing those few particular tools, & have sure enjoyed all of the memories which each "conjured up" for me!!
Thanks So Much Once Again!
Ron H.
Abilene, TX.
I
Thanks for watching Ron! I'm glad my tool haul brought back some good memories. Sorry to hear you lost that tool box!
You're Very Welcome!
Yes, I sure hated losing that toolbox for sure!
The 1st reason of course; is because I'd put a lot of sanding time into it, plus 1 can of primer, & 2 cans of spray paint, (1 can of Red for the tray, & 1 can of Gray for the box).
But also, at just 24 or 25 yrs. old, it was only the 2nd item I ever attempted to restore, & without a whole more training than simply watching my Pap, & my Dad, while they did paint jobs on both Cars & Trucks, but also smaller items, such as that box.
Even so, that box, as well as the Push Mower Deck, I restored first; both turned out perfectly, & I was proud of them, plus; I hadn't gotten much use out of that box before it was stolen from me! :-)
The 2nd reason was obviously, because of those tools & knives of Paps that had been in it, plus a few other small, specialty tools that either folks had given me, or I had found & bought cheap @ flea markets, which were NOT CHEAP, to replace NEW!!
A 3rd reason, is because that box had been my Dad's. He had acquired it, along with various tools, while taking a "Heating & A/C Correspondence Course" from ASI, (Advanced Schools Inc.) in the early to mid 1970's.
Dad never finished that course, as he began taking it/paying for it, using funds from his G.I. Benefits, (from serving in the U.S. Army from 1962-1964), & unfortunately, when he went to sign up for either the 3rd or 4th part of that course, he was notified that limit of his military funds had run out!
Anyway, after that, the Toolbox set around in our house, virtually untouched, about the next 15 to 17 years!
Then around 1988 or '89 or so, Dad began putting a lot of his other tools in it, & using it regularly.
Shortly after that time, I went to spend some time w/my folks, one weekend, & while there, I helped Dad do a Brake Job on either he or my Mother's Car.
Unfortunately, I've gotta "tell on myself" and admit that when we finished, I forgot and left the box's tray behind one the car's wheels!!
You can imagine what happened next! Yep! Dad ended up backing right over 1 end of that tray, & squashing it, pretty good! LOL!!
A short while after that, I noticed that Dad had emptied that box & wasn't using it; so I took it home with me, and very carefully, & laboriously, pounded that tray back into shape, stripped all it's paint, then brought it back to Dad for some welding that it needed.
I then took it back home, & proceeded to restore both the tray & box! If I recall correctly, I went to give it back to Dad, & he was quite impressed, & proud of my work!
He then told me that I could "hold onto" that Toolbox, and use it for my own tools, as the only Toolbox I had of my own, was a small, very shallow one, that wouldn't hold all the tools which I'd accumulated by that time!
So anyway, that's total significance which that Toolbox held for me. Besides that, up until it was stolen, I still felt that- that Toolbox, at least partially, STILL belonged to Dad, & so I REALLY HATED to see it stolen, from HIM, as well as from me!!
To this day, I search ebay, in hopes that - that ol' ASI Toolbox will turn up on there, & hopefully still be in decent shape, & that I can bid on it, hopefully; get it back! :-)
Ron
P.S.
I neglected to mention that I found an expired ebay posting of one of those same ASI Toolboxes, just the other day!
It wasn't MY toolbox though, as I could tell that it had never been restored, as even though that box was a bit rusty, I could tell that it still had all of it's original paint, plus there was no hint of weld, at the one end of the tray's handle.
If it hadn't already been sold, I'd have likely did some bidding on it though! :-)
I saw a Craftsman tool box sitting in a driveway at a garage sale. It had 10 or so drawers. I asked how much and the lady said $5.00. I whipped out 5 and bent down to pick up the box and couldn't move it. She told me she had a dolly if I needed it. I got the box to the back of my truck and a man from across the street saw me struggling and walked over to help me load the box. He said she must have had someone just put the box out because it wasn't there a half hour ago. He told me the Lady had caught her husband and was selling all his stuff while he was at work. The neighbor had bought guns, tools, and lots of stuff for a hundred dollars. The Craftsman box I got was full of high dollar tools that were all like brand new. Cordless tools of all kinds. Air impacts, drills, socket sets, everything imaginable.
I had an opportunity to acquire a 3 month old TroyBilt tiller for $100 in a similar situation. I passed. I couldn't bring myself to participate in such nastiness even though I knew someone else would get it anyway. No pleasure from someone else's misery.
@@65csx83 I hear where you are coming from. I bought the box and had it at the back of my truck before I knew the story.
JC Penny, Wahoo! Thanks for sharing...
There was some cool items in that $3 box!
I was buying Easco tools from a local independently owned auto parts store ( when we still had them) to turn wrenches on the '61 DeSoto I owned at the time, now some 40 years later I still have, and use these tools along with many others. I buy every Easco I see at the flea markets, they have stood the test of time. You will find some with the NAPA name on them that otherwise look like any other Easco, and they did make some tools for Craftsman, but these will look like any other Craftsman wrench except for the codes. Evaporust will clean all that up, I paid more than three bucks for the last V series Craftsman 1/2" drive ratchet I bought, didn't need another, but it was all alone on the table with an idiot who let it sit out in the rain.
The ratchet wrench cleaned up pretty well!
ruclips.net/video/HTSVl_Q5PHc/видео.html
Not much there that a good soak in Evap-O-Rust wouldn't solve (including the bottom of the toolbox)! Great Buy. Those old Craftsman ratchets are easily serviceable - definitely worth more than the $3 you paid, just for that.
A video on the Craftsman ratchet wrench is coming very soon!
Great score on the tools, I’m gonna start calling my awls “pokey things”
MagDaughter invented the name!
ruclips.net/video/fDRz-ddVQsw/видео.html
I've been carrying the same Kamp King pocket knife for the last ~20 years, though mine has a snapped off flathead. It's a good one.
I'm hoping it cleans up nice!
I think you found the sister to my tool box find. My Craftsman tool box was found in a pile of branches at a lake house in Maine. Considering the weeds surrounding the tool box it had been outside for many years. The contents were similar to your find. Twelve inch Riggard pipe wrench, twelve inch Crescent wrench, Vietnam era military pocket knife, various Craftsman wrenches and sockets, etc. I saved about half of the tools (some too far rusted to be safe again). I can't help but wonder how someone would lose a complete tool box full of quality tools, left to the elements in northern Maine. I enjoyed your video.
Thanks David! I'm glad you enjoyed the video! Toolboxes full of rusty treasure are fun!
Nothing better than a mystery box got fir cheap……great vid…love it. 🇬🇧
It was difficult not to peek inside before I had a chance to film it!
@@357magdad I know that feeling lol
I've been looking for a 1-1/16" box wrench to dedicate to my table saw and you just pull one out of that box. Clean them up and you have some gems there. I call that a box deal. $3 for a box deal is good. And yeah you did good with that one. Some crap and some keepers. I knew that was a Kamp-King knife right off the bat. I keep one in my shed for opening bags. They're actually somewhat collectable.
You never know what you'll find at the next yard sale!
What a great haul magdad! Can’t believe it was only 3$!
Either could I! I couldn't pay the guy fast enough!
I can believe it. That's a box of garbage to most folks. And they wouldn't be half wrong. With some love some of it is keepers though.
Great haul!!! 3 bucks!!! Grants was a department store chain mainly located on the east coast. They were located up and down the east coast and were in business for about 70 years until they went bankrupt in 1975. They sold everything and were very popular, but they were victims of the recession of the early 1970’s. You could get a vibratory tumbler and those tools would be resurrected!! Fun video!!
Thanks for watching! Check out my video on the Grants awl:
ruclips.net/video/ltDATlxWM5I/видео.html
That collection of screw drivers, one has a slip hook to it. I've gotten those in tire plug kits. BUT, I have also used them in leather strip sewing for making knife sheaths.
I think it was a tire plug tool.
I think Grant’s is or was a store chain like Woolworths. The rocks reminded me of “It’s The Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown” when after stopping at each house the gang would compare what they got and every time Charlie Brown says “I got a rock”. My favorites are the Yankee style push drills and screw drivers, sort of like cordless drill/drivers that never need recharging.
I've got a push drill video you might like.
ruclips.net/video/QzNjNc0fmBE/видео.html
You scored with all of those Craftsman "V" series tools! ✌🏻🇺🇸
Thanks for watching! I think I did pretty good for $3!
All the fun of just looking through the box was worth $3 at last. My favorites were the small wooden handled screw driver and the ignition pliers.
It was fun going through the box with everyone!
There was a store called WT Grant kind of like a Sears not as good but they had tools with their name on them. They had about 1200 store’s but went belly up in 76. That was a great find your lucky man
I did a little research - looks like they were mostly based in the Syracuse NY area.
If it was me there would be a years worth of projects. Looks like we will have stuff to look at when you are done. 🤪👍
I'm hoping there will be a few good projects that come out of this box!
Nice find. Several hidden gems in there for sure.
It's like a treasure chest!
@@357magdad In my mind I picture someone working outdoors, at night with the light fading, and a storm on the way, they accidentally knock over their tool box in the dirt. And instead of putting everything back nicely, they just scoop everything up (rocks and all) and dump it into the toolbox just as the rain starts pouring down. Wait. Am I imagining this or remembering this???
I think you got your money's worth there! ....... and a few years of fun cleaning them up!
Thanks for watching! Check out my playlist of projects from this toolbox:
ruclips.net/p/PL2LUCgmdqpXOKe7fWYo_2fTNEZ_QHkMDi
Those Craftsman V series tools should clean up nice. Quite a few keepers out of that box. Definitely got your money’s worth, in pokey things alone! Take care.
Finding deals like this is what makes yard sales so much fun!
I have four tool boxes like that three of them came badly spray painted. This spray paint came off with lacquer thinner.
Different stores for each. Gave $8-$12 for each if I remember. A couple have the socket tray still.
I've got a pile old metal tool boxes. I put them out in my yard sale every year and rarely sell any.
Hi 357 Magdad , Easco made Wrenches for Craftsman. Grants Was A Store. $3 Is A Bargain ! I have A Camp King Knife . It Was My Grandfather's . Great Bunch of Restorations There.
Thanks for the info!
I bought that Tool Box about 1971. Try soaking the rust items in Evapo rust for several days. Works good.
I have a few of these boxes now - all missing the trays.
My favorite is the C Clamp with just a bit of patina on it. Mrs. Magdad did a great job in spotting this as there is a lot of tutorials in that box. Do you plan on restoring the box? Thanks for sharing this haul, you did a great job in buying it.
Thanks John! Mrs Magdad has a great eye! I have no plans to restore the box.
Man he sure liked his pokey things 🤣
I have a load of old tools left over from my factory maintenance days, lots of spanner’s 30mm and bigger I’ll almost certainly never use again, they’ll probably ( sadly ) end up in a toolbox in a car boot sale..................
I wonder if you have a local trade school that could use them?
Treasure!!!!! Dunlop used to be the British Goodyear. Used to make every type of rubber product you can think of. Those beautiful Jaguars and Aston Martins James Bond used to tool around in had Dunlop tyres on them. I can't remember there being tools made by Dunlop but it's possible. Stanley used to make tools in Britain too and they were very good. I have a few still and they are very jealously guarded. I'd have been over the moon with this haul there some great stuff in there.
Dunlap was a Sears brand. A more economical line than Craftsman. I think the brand was used by Sears from the late 1930's into the 1950's. I made a playlist of the projects from that $3 box - you may enjoy them!
My favorite is the Penney mini adjustable pliers. I have one just like it stamped Bonney, Made in USA. Could be Penney's twin. Missed Chuck in this video.
It's possible Bonney made them for JC Penny. I'll have to do some research!
"Patina in the Air"!!! xD xD that would make a good tshirt :) my nose started to itch just seeing that xD
Chuck sneezed a couple times!
For $3, that was a good deal. Just the Craftsman ratchet more than doubled the investment. That's one of the best models Craftsman ever sold. Just a few days ago, I found myself wanting precisely that ratchet. My dad had one when I was growing up. He took good care of his though. Lol.
The Craftsman ratchet wrench clean up video is coming soon!
That plastic sleeve in the beginning, was the case for the screwdriver handle and bits. It rolled up, and snapped shut
It might be!
Basement flooded or the toolbox was filled with water. Good eye Mrs. MagDad. Nice score. Favorite ten is the knife. Bet it's made by Frontier.
It's like a stream ran through it! The Kamp King is very popular with viewers!
I loved the cutter with the fulcrum thing. I would restore that and use it to trim small branches, rose bushes etc. I have a straight fulcrum one that I like because the cutter bottoms out on an "anvil". I am sure this tool box refugee would have a lot more cutting leverage power. I would like to find a new on like it. It is made anymore? Good question.
I haven't been able to find out much about those pruners. It would be interesting to do a side-by-side cutting test with a standard prunner.
Cool toolbox. $3 for the tools. $20 for the Evaporust. Have fun. Grab a fresh beer or an iced tea and get to work.... Thanks for sharing the video. It's appreciated.
I've already got a couple items soaking in the "magic juice"!
I just got a loaded box, same one with the tray for $3 as well, not all the rust, but lots of good tools just dirty and grimy!
Sounds like a great find George!
I’m not sure about the Dunlop. But the down step from craftsman for many years was Companion. Which they are actually great tools. I have many companion made in Japan pliers that I have inherited. Great high quality tools
The Dunlap line of tools first appeared in the Sears catalog in 1937 and was replaced in 1941 by Companion.
If you have just ONE ratchet item that still works, you got ur money's worth. Still plenty of life in a lot of those items. The tin snips and secateurs are always handy things to have around. I'd be more than happy with that find. Clean up what you can and tidy the box up and leave it in the back of a truck. You never know lol
I got the Craftsman ratchet working!
ruclips.net/video/HTSVl_Q5PHc/видео.html
The two pruners are at both end of the spectrum for gardening. One is a bypass pruner, and the other is an anvil pruner. GREAT video. Are you going to try to refurb everything? I'd love to see that video!
Check out my video on the Floating Fulcrum pruners:
ruclips.net/video/pHlyAfqnsVw/видео.html
Like all the pokey things but really looking forward to seeing the knife resurrection 👍👍🇺🇸🇬🇧🇺🇸🇬🇧
I'm looking forward to working on that Kamp King!
I like the J C Penney's baby channel Locks. There's something cool about small tools.
Thanks for watching!
Great deal...i'd throw all of them in a big bucket of vinegar 1 gallon with 1 gallon water....and let set for three days...take out wipe and clean and oil them. The craftsman box wrenches and rackets were the best. Do not underestimate that c-clamp...clean it up, paint and oil it...it'll see lots of years use. Cold Chisels are nice...clean and sharpen and oil.
Check out how the ratchet turned out!
ruclips.net/video/HTSVl_Q5PHc/видео.html
red tool is not for pruning is for some kind of thermoplastic pipes(dont know name in usa, but here we use it to cut pipes that you connect with heating or special bronze adapters). it cut straight and clean and dont push the round pipe out of blade
Thanks for watching! It is indeed a pruner. Video coming soon!
I’d love to see that Rosco set cleaned up.
I saw the name and immediately thought of the Dukes Of Hazzard!
That's gotta be the deal of the year right there!
A lot of fun projects came out of that box!
ruclips.net/p/PL2LUCgmdqpXOKe7fWYo_2fTNEZ_QHkMDi
Eastco is one I'm going to start putting to the side. Seems like an under-loved company. tHanks for the video
Thanks for watching!
I would start by restoring the box lol
great price for all of that
I've got two of these boxes now, both missing the trays.
@@357magdad Then pocket knife it is
All of that for $3!?! What a great find, you just got yourself a years worth of tool restorations🤣
So much rusty junk, so little time!
Love this.!!! If restored you can add a $100.00 to the value
I like your thinking Willem!
Great Tool haul.
Thanks Michael. I made a playlist of the items from this haul that I've cleaned up.
Great score mate. Cleaned up, you’d make your money back and more just from “pokey things”. 😂😂😂
I really like the two Grant's pokey things!
It's amazing how many tools were still in the box when it looked empty! For me the floating fulcrum pruners were a nice item. Hours of fun ahead! Thanks for sharing the excitement!
I've gotta do some research on those pruners!
You could bring that old frozen up craftsman ratchet to Lowe’s if you wanted and trade it in for a brand new one under warranty. 🤗 Unfortunately we wouldn’t get a video then.😢. I just swapped out a broken craftsman ratchet about two months ago that my father gave me in 1981 in a metric set as a teen to work on my Honda three wheel All Terrain Cycle. The ATC is long gone but I still have that complete craftsman metric set I occasionally use these days.
I'm already working on that ratchet!
You have got tbe the luckiest guy in the world getting that box of tools for 3 dollars I couldn't buy those here for under 100 dollars . Just 1 rusty ratchet here is about 30 dollars. If I had those I would wash them in soapy water put them in a plastic tub put 4 gallons of white vinegar in it and 1 container of salt let them soak for 2 days wash them with sos pads dry them oil them and bam new tools. I've been restoring rusty tools for over 45 years now like that.
Thanks for watching Joey! I've got a playlist of the clean ups I did from that toolbox - check it out!
Pokey thing is called an Awl , I think the V stands for vanadium had that exact pocket knife 50 years ago boy scouts
MagDaughter renamed the tool!
ruclips.net/video/fDRz-ddVQsw/видео.html
Great find! Can’t wait to see the restorations. You have enough for quite awhile!
Thanks Frank! I got more projects than time right now!
That $3 has given you years of future videos. :-) I think the push drills were my favorite
I'm hoping to get a few good videos out of the haul!
That chrome spiral screwdriver is the real deal. We'll see if he can resurrect it. It's a pretty delicate model. Mine's in far better shape and it does not even run too good.
"There is patina in the air" 🤣🤣🤣🤣. Great haul. Cheers
It was fun going through the box "live"!
I would take the Craftsman tool box, ratchet, wrenches and sockets to be exchanged at the nearest Lowe's for new ones.
A buddy at work tried to exchange a broken Craftsman ratchet at Lowes and they wouldn't take it. I tried to contact Craftsman online for him but they never answered me.
Nice craftsman tools , need some cleaning but still nice
I hope I can get that socket wrench working!
Get yourself an old storage tub or cooler and put a couple of gallons of white vinegar in it. Drop those rusty tools in there and let them soak for a few days till the rust is gone. The vinegar used to be about $4 a gallon at Walmart but don't know now. Cheap and effective rust remover. After that some WD-40 and you're good to go.
I've used vinegar with success. I am a fan of Evapo-Rust also.
Bargain! Lots of pokey things for magdaughter to have a stab* at and a couple of rocks for Chuck to perch on.
Should make for some interesting videos. Looking forward to seeing them.
*pun most definitely intended
: )
I hope to get at least a few good videos out of that box!
Great haul for $3! Many great treasures. Looking forward to some restorations. That Floating Falcrum pruners are my favorite! Wow. Great collection of pokey things. That Rosco P. Screwdriver Combo Set looks interesting. 👍
I've gotta do some research on those pruners!
Favorite? The sockets.
The Evapo-rust did a nice job on the sockets. You can get a peek at them here:

Those V sockets and wrenches are great. And that all trade socket wrench is oddly enough the right one for the small V socket set I have a more than complete set. Meaning the small long and the regular short small size. But for whatever reason according to alloy artifacts that all trade is correct. I suspect it was to save money.. those roman numerals sets were few dollars more and I'm a metel box.
That Roscoe set went in that plastic bag I think it would be super cool if you could restore the whole package and reassemble it
Well done Bud!! I just paid $3 for a 7/8 craftsman combination wrench at a flea market to replace one that I lost!! Roadqueen worked at Grants when she was a Kid, they had a few in this area!!☺
I was happy to find the Craftsman items in the box! I had not heard of Grants before - I bet they were like the Hechinger's we had in the Philly burbs.
Back in the day you could have taken that ratchet craftman to Sears and would change it for a new one?????Miss those days....
I wonder if there are NOS kits still floating around for these?
great find all that patina in one place
There was even patina in the air at one point!
Awlsome box of rust! 🛠️👍😁
I was pretty excited when we found it. It was hard to not peak until I had the camera on!
@@357magdad Good job done 👍😊
Grants was a department store chain that went out of business in the mid seventies.
There's a couple good RUclips videos on Grant's.
Just what everybody needs a box of rusty tools
I can't speak for everybody, but I was pretty excited to find this box of rusty tools!
The kamp King pocket knife is well worth a clean up and a challenge
I'm looking forward to working on it!
