The reason it goes green is because that brand of color remover, color oops, seems to only work on red pigments. It does nothing to blue and green. This seems to happen a lot.
The green hair happened because the semi permanent dye she used is a BLUE BASED red. Colour Oops mostly removes warmer pigments, and tends to leave cool tones behind. Blue pigment + yellow base = green. :) I've had this happen to me before lol what a neussance! I'm glad it worked out for her! :)
Yes! Colour oops (and even sometimes bleach) on semi permanent can end up pushing the dye molecules further into your strand n give you wonky colours. Direct dyes and semi permanent dyes do not lift and deposit - only saturate the top layer. You can use specially formulated direct dye/semi permanent dye removers - with more predictable results. Joicos Colour Intensity eraser is one. I have gone from bright fuchsia to blonde at home w it in one sitting and emerald green to blonde as well.
My stylist used a direct remover for my purple hair and it also turned green. Bleach didn’t touch it. Luckily I wanted to go back to red, but it’s still green underneath.
Trust me, I'm not a very adventurous person but I decided to bleach my hair at home. You can probably guess how that went. The only solution was the scissors. I am now rocking a short pixie cut. Would I do that again? No. But throughout the whole process, I kept telling myself, "It's only hair. It will grow back." 😉
@@Boxermom0317 it does grow back! Which is why I haven’t been to a hairdresser since COVID. Been cutting my own hair. Even experimented with a pixie once. My poor hair 😬
I JUST colored my hair from bright red to blond(ish) and this drops out 🥲I first used some bleach and then dyed with dark blonde haircolor (same as my own) and ended up with warm toned blonde hair without too much of a damage , in the sun it looks a bit ginger but I love it!🥰

My hairdresser may kill me when I see him at the end of next month and am asking to go double process platinum. But Brad, my hair is still on my head, thanks to you!!
Aaah I can't believe you reacted to my video!! I'm honestly just as shocked as you are that it turned out okay haha 😂Thank you!! ❤ btw it was red box dye :')

Welcome to what Color Oops can do to certain semi permanent colors! Just removed the pink in my profile picture and it went blue! Like BLUE!! I ended up having to use a bleach bath because it wasn't light enough for what I needed and it went back to pink after the bleach bath. Chemistry is fun! 😂😂
Brad do you realize how many people you have helped? Seriously, look at the difference in the results now vs before you shared your knowledge on youtube and the internet. I hope you are proud because i am ❤
Hello, Gorgeous, Yourself!!! Brad-- I'm an old, retired Hairstylist/Cosmo Educator from a hunnert years ago! I really, REALLY liked your explanation of how the red molecules stay in the hair while the lightner wants to move it out-- that was BRILLIANT!!! Wish I'd had that when I was teaching!! LOLs!! I enjoy your channel! I agree with 99% of the hair stuff you've talked about; I won't say 100% 'cause I'm old and can't remember everything!!! Ha!! Thanks again!
Color Oops is a sulfur based remover. It does not lighten the hair. It shrinks color molecules and is dependent on the hair being thoroughly washed to remove the color. Any color molecules left on the hair can appear if peroxide is used on the hair. If you don’t want that to happen, you’d need to follow the remover with lightener to avoid that from happening.
I used it once on my mom and we washed her hair for at least 15min-the next time she coloured it, it went straight to dark brown again… Would a quick bleach bath afterwards help, or would the molecules still return..? It feels really sketchy to use, if you end up with random colours…😅
OMG hi Brad!! 🙋🏻♀️🩷 Thanks for not roasting me too hard 😅 Also, my hair was not green in the end at all! It was actually a deeper ash blonde at the top with lighter blonde throughout the ends. You’re seeing a weird trick of the lighting with my blue back drop I had at the time 👋🏻☺️ Rest assured, my hair is muuuch better off ever since I retired the bleach and color 😮💨😭 I love your videos ~ thanks for letting me crash one! 💕₊·*◟(˶╹̆ꇴ╹̆˵)◜‧*・

Thank you! Pink is very cute on me and I still dye it with pink occasionally, just not as bright and with the one that washes off easily (Umberto Giannini cherry blossom that I used in the video)
It took me so many years to get this process right and by then I decided I loved my red hair and have been playing it up ever since. (Much to my mother's dismay which only brings me more joy. Sorry mom, but you gave me half of those genes.)
I’ve had auburn hair for the past few years and decided to go back to a light brunette with blonde highlights. I let the red fade for a couple of months before going to my stylist. Even with that I knew it wasn’t going to happen in one sitting. We’re on the first stage, which is basically brown leaning auburn with strawberry highlights, which is actually really pretty. I'm sorry but whenever they jump cut to their hair already done from a disaster without showing the process, I automatically think they cheated and went to a salon lol. I got that feeling from the 1st girl
As someone who goes from red to brown to blonde often. I appreciate you so much! Your products are amazing by the way and have transformed my hair completely ❤️❤️ so much love! Even my 10 year old loves watching you lol she now is obsessed with your videos and I think I have a cosmo student on my hands soon!
In my experience a lot of red Box dyes have green mixed into it. So when you get rid of red the green stays (Same with blacks that give you a warm undertone. The cool ones usually have blue.)
If I ever recorded my at home hair transformations, I think Brad would 100% have been flabbergasted from how I did my hair every single time, to falling out of his chair on the results. I never did it right, but somehow always turned out great haha I did follow his hair cutting tutorials though, those always were great start to finish of course
I think it's fantastic that the last 2 girls were happy with how their hair turned out but I'm sorry their hair still looked green! I didn't see much of a transformation there. Unless it looked different on camera compared to real life.
Omg this video made me so anxious. I'm a blonde, but every few years I make the horrible decision to go Natasha Romanoff red. I do this at the salon, with the knowledge that I will inevitably return to my roots (so sorry), and it takes EIGHT MONTHS to go back to blonde. The fact that some people are doing it in one afternoon in their bathroom gives me ANXIETY, but y'all are fearless bravo 👏 👏👏
I bleached my red hair and not only did it come out a pretty pink color, but it stayed in my hair WAY longer. the red was semi-permanent dye ( punky color i believe ) but it was still pretty bright when i bleached it, so the pink was decently saturated, almost a deep strawberry milk color. not sure the science behind it but bleaching colored hair tends to make the color stick longer. at least in my experience.
I know everyone is saying that red is hard to get out, but I've always been told its hard to maintain b/c it fades super fast & is hard for the hair to hold. I know fading isn't the same as losing the color completely, but still surprises me its hard to get rid of. My hair holds red really well, but I also have some red in my naturally brown hair, like a reddish brown in the sun. I started going to a hairdresser about 5yrs ago when I wanted some lighter streaks & will never do my own hair again. I only did it myself when I was wanting one color everywhere. That was the limit of my skill lol My hairdresser is amazing at explaining the pros/cons of the options to get the look I want while working w/in my budget. She's amazing &, thanks to her, so is my hair 😊
So I’m from Finland (the land of the most blondes) and to my knowledge, blondes without any natural red pigment cannot keep their hair red without constant maintenance and blondes with any red pigment cannot get rid of dyes with any red pigment without scissors (I had a strand of ”gone in 8 washes” purple for like half a year? I think I cut bangs after that)
I was red, then I went black, hated it, and two boxes of color oops (3 days apart) I’m now this golden honey blonde that suits me a hell of a lot better than the other 2 colors. It’s possible if you just believe lol
I'm actually a natural redhead, and the amount of nuclear damage I've done to my hair due to bleaching until the red comes out is really really bad Brad. Even when I was a redhead and only needed to lift it a few levels, it usually is at least 2-3 bleaches plus toning and lots of purple shampoo to get to a somewhat passable blond.
Wowwww .. id be freaking out .i however have very short hair & it grows very quickly. .ive just went back ash /silver blond .. hower i had previously used a dark BLOND tint on my med brown hair and loved the lovely gentle red tone ...( 20 vol dev) I did however grow most of the previouse colour out & regularrly trimmed my hair .. Thanks to brad & listening to his experience im happy with the overall results .. Id like a slightly more light slate tone as i can see a slight mucki undertone . .
I love the awe at the color remover 😂👏🏼 Color removers are always a killer party trick with hair stylists for some reason. My light brown/dirty blonde hair loves the party trick too 👍🏻
I think the last girl was getting a lot of blue bounce light from her environment (sparkly blue backdrop). She said her roots looked yellow in person even though they looked green on camera, so some of the green (possibly not all of it) might have been yellow hair + blue light.
This 100% the case. I didn’t know at the time of filming that the colors would be thrown off with that back drop 😅 Also his editor changed the color grading on my original video. It was definitely just a deeper ash blonde at the top with lighter blonde throughout the ends 👋🏻☺️
Brad: this is the best DIY bleach application I’ve ever seen. It looks evenly lightened and this person used enough lightener for once. Brad 4 seconds later: I knew this would happen. She used way too much lightener. ☠️
All of these women looked amazing with dark and red hair, especially the first girl, blonde does not do her justice! I think only the second woman looked better blonde. However the the first two women did an impressively amazing job with their transformations! They all seemed super happy with what they got which is the whole point of experimenting with your image so congrats to them :]
I absolutly love Swavy Blonde's hair!! 🥰 It reminds me so much of Madonna's style in the late 80s early 90s. I wanted that style soo much but my parents kept saying no and you will ruin your hair. I ran to my bedroom and cried for a whole month (it wasnt but it sure felt like it!) 😆
@SwavyBlonde I ment when I was at school in the 80s but I still love the style so much! I have been bleaching my hair (well just the roots) since I was about 25. I'm 49 now and it has remained in such good condition . I think I would need a perm to get it like yours and I'd probably kill every hair on my head! 😱 maybe a cute curly wig?! 🥰🤍💫
As someone that had deep red hair for years. And also decided I wanted white blonde. It took me a whole year. And even then I had to cut the rest of the red out because it never truly let go. Be careful and do your research before. And watch all the brad mondo you can. 😊
personally when the last girl was saying the colour brings out the warmth in her skin i thought she looked like shes never seen the sun but thats my opinion hehe
i recently went from blonde to a ginger red, and I'm so glad i watch you cause i did a test strand because my hair was virgin hair and that piece reacted weirdly and fell out so i used a different brand, and after another test strand, that worked well.
We bleached my natural red hair and dyed sections of it hot pink and sections dark purple with semi- permanent box dye and it came out so much better than I thought it would especially since my hair is a natural red
Omg. My jaw dropped at the green hair reveal. One of the biggest surprises in this whole series!!
I was shocked!
I have never reacted to a reveal like I did that one! I gasped so loud my roommate was worried lol
it will be back to green after washing it
The reason it goes green is because that brand of color remover, color oops, seems to only work on red pigments. It does nothing to blue and green. This seems to happen a lot.

so true!
I know and im disappointed at the same time 😂😂 Seeing ppl fuck up their hair like us back in the day is a classic
Honestly I think the last girl was a bit delusional about her results but what do I know.. If she's happy
I think they go to a professional to fix their mistakes and present the results as their own.
Or people are going to a hair salon to fix their mistake and then they are claiming they did it all.

The third girls skin is FLAWLESS 💕
The girl who’s hair turned green is better than me. My hair being green is how I shaved it off the first time 💈💈
I think the last girl was getting a lot of blue bounce light from her environment (sparkly blue backdrop).
is no one gonna talk about Brad's white and gold wetsuit? Iconic
Only Brad could wear a scuba suit and still look amazing
All of these women looked amazing with dark and red hair, especially the first girl, blonde does not do her justice! I think only the second woman looked better blonde.
However the the first two women did an impressively amazing job with their transformations! They all seemed super happy with what they got which is the whole point of experimenting with your image so congrats to them :]
I’m naturally blonde so it suits me, thank you dear ❤️
who else watches brads video and the video makes their day 🙋♀️
I went from blonde to red today with Xmondo Garnet color!!! I absolutely love it❤❤❤❤
I absolutly love Swavy Blonde's hair!! 🥰 It reminds me so much of Madonna's style in the late 80s early 90s. I wanted that style soo much but my parents kept saying no and you will ruin your hair. I ran to my bedroom and cried for a whole month (it wasnt but it sure felt like it!) 😆
Just do it! ❤️
brad just casually wearing a wetsuit
Literally came to say this lolol
This brand is expensive af lol
Moisture js the essence of Wetness. and Wetness is the essence of beauty. He's a mer MAN!
Oh my God, the second girl’s hair turned out gorgeous!!!
Thank you ☺️ ❤
personally when the last girl was saying the colour brings out the warmth in her skin i thought she looked like shes never seen the sun but thats my opinion hehe
I’m spaniard, so my skin is ultra pale all year round 🙂 365 days of heavenly glow! 😊😅✨
Red and green are a beast to get out/cover up. Even with black dye..
I cringe at any mention of Wella T… that is the WORST toner. 🤮
i recently went from blonde to a ginger red, and I'm so glad i watch you cause i did a test strand because my hair was virgin hair and that piece reacted weirdly and fell out so i used a different brand, and after another test strand, that worked well.
I’m so distracted by the ear bling 😬
Ditto😮
I LOVE the red hair talking. ‘No I’m comfy’ 😅😂😂❤
Every outfit is always awesome. I still talk about the pin head hoodie. Gotta love brad. You never know what's coming, but it's always fabulous. ❤
the pink hair turning green was a shock 😮
I GASPED when I saw the green hair omg😂😂
We bleached my natural red hair and dyed sections of it hot pink and sections dark purple with semi- permanent box dye and it came out so much better than I thought it would especially since my hair is a natural red
I like the delivery of "it's like swamp green, and very dry"
that outfit is giving Diver instructor, especially with the frosted tips 😆
I definitely understood the extreme tease you were describing to answer your question!
