“having the idea, working on the idea and putting it out and when you just find the validation in that, to me that’s the highest level of success” 💎 that’s such an amazing point of view and perspective to have I think that’s what it all should be about, makes the creative process so effortless with that mindset alone
Where does this connection between the artist and economic interest come from? Why can't the search for stability coexist with the search for transcendence in art? We misjudge each path because each artist chooses their own way of living. An artistic life and a "normal" life intertwine to give meaning to the artist's being. Often, we feel so identified with someone’s creative expression that we take ownership of the criticism and opinions about that person’s life. However, we forget that behind the opulence of creation and many other things, what remains is, simply, a person.
I really enjoyed reading this Santiago. I thought one of the important things Tremaine said in the piece, was how it was great to continue working a job and making your art alongside it. This option allows that kind of stability to coexist between normal life and someone being a passionate creative in their spare time. When trying to make your creative passion pay your rent - the game can become different, and I also enjoyed Tremaine's openness and lack of shame about using his craft to put food on the table. Thanks again for writing your piece and adding to the conversation here. I'm making a video next month that looks at how artists can function with a full-time job, and I'll hold your ideas in it.
It's frustrating for me to put forth my time which makes it a blessing and a curse for sure as I watch a video of why artists are almost never happy . I'm a artist but not popular in the mane stream. Thank-you
