@gravedays8875 I could visit Brynithel Cemetery in Abertillery, to pay my respects to Florence & Freda if possible over a weekend & not too far from each other. Not looked on the map yet.
@DavidJHarrisonEssex It is a beautiful location but also on a very steep hill. Both graves are located directly up the hill from the car park. One about half way up and the other is about three quarters of the way up and slightly to the right.
Thanks. It's 2hrs 22 mins between Brynithel cemetry & Maesgwastad Cemetery to see Gary then visit Freda & Florence but we will probably stay in Wales for a long weekend to get to both.
This video was filmed at the end of September, so you would have visited a couple of weeks later. He was a great actor and is resting in a lovely peaceful cemetery.
I used to enjoy watching Auf Wiedersehen Pet, especially the one they filmed in Derbyshire, they were changing an old manor house into flats before they went to Spain. A really good one this week Darren (all of them are good) but this one especially. Thanks.
Hiya Darren, when Auf Wiedersehen Pet was filming in Spain, they had to use a body double when Gary was on his death bed, I still think Willy "OZ" Osbourne is my favourite, this is Choppy
Very sad it seems like another wasted life obviously and from what you told us talent but I've never heard him sing. Possible in Auf Wiedersehen, Pet he was playing himself maybe he was good in the part. Nice relaxing presentation Darren.
Most graves in cemeteries/churchyards look neglected. This is for a number of reasons, families move away for example. Also, people who new them eventually pass away and there is nobody left to tend to the grave. I see it in every cemetery/churchyard I visit. All those people had their own stories which have now been lost to the mists of time. Unfortunately this will happen to us all eventually.
There is no information that I found which tells why his ashes are interred at that location. Maybe at some point in his life he expressed his wish to be buried there.
A great actor and musician...gone way to soon. R.I.P. Gary
So many of these people get caught up with drugs. It is a shame because he would have had a long career ahead of him.
Gary was my favourite Auf Wiedersehen pet.
