Just watching all the Auf Weidersehen Pet DVD's from start to finish , that brought me here . Loved it first time round , still loving it . R.I.P. Gary , gone way way too soon . Talented actor and singer .
Watching Aufwiedershen on the history channel , great program and brought back memories ! Gary's part was just so perfect for him and he nailed it ! When he died it felt like a friend had died and we had lost a great talent! Imagine if he'd lived he'd have been as big as denis waterman ! Look how Barry went on to do good things! RIP Gary Holton!!!!
He is just like his character in Auf W Pet a lot of his friend's said he was just playing himself in the show that the charactor came naturally to him Rest in peace Gary
losIluminados He was such a "legend" ,yet you couldn't be bothered to spell the name of your legend with capital letters ? the least bit of respect any 'legend' should deserve..
Colin you may not liked Gary Holton s acting or singing but a lot off us do. He was great in this comedy show. He died to young he can sing. Your bitter don't disrespect him have some respect .
Tragically past away prematurely. Similar to James Beck in Dad's Army and Richard Beckinsale in Porridge (another Clement and La Frenaise classic) Gary's 'Wayne' was my fave character in the series & this clip is one of my favourite scenes. I'd love to have seen how his character matured in the later episodes. They just weren't the same. The press gave him a hard time towards the end and Im afraid they share most of the blame for this talented young gentleman's tragic end. God bless u Gary. RIP
never mind it was done in 1983 didnt reach tv until 1986 the late gary died in 1985 i never knew he was a singer he died in a pub in n.. bless him rest him it was my fav programme never mind silly comments rember the guy rip garyx
It's weird, I took his death in my stride, just one of those things, then when Wyman pulls out a pic of them all to show Barry in series 3 it brought a lump to my throat, RIP kid
From the days when there was real characters in the music biz as opposed to the middle class bland pod kids that constitute it at the moment, killing time by playing at being rockstars before they have to get a job with daddies firm……RIP Gary…you are missed.
The were banned by all the "PC" goons I mention above when a soppy girlie whinges on that the last series only failed because Waynes replacement was black--a ridiculous statement, when in fact it failed because the scripts were second-rate and Noel Clarke was a lousy actor and totally unconvincing playing Gary Holtons part.
He had a great career ahead of him, so what if he was typecast? He was because nobody did it better at that time! RIP Gary, you were made for Wayne Winston Norris!
Still missed all these years later. I wonder how he would have turned out - he declined the offer to play the role of Nick Cotton in Eastenders and instead suggested John Altman to producers. Auf Pet after series 2 was never the same. R.I.P mate
Sorry to say this, but DAM bloody drugs, I know you can say no, but a lot in that crazy world did take drugs. Miss you Gary you were so talented and likable, I dont think there`s anything you could`nt do, just wished maybe you had liked yourself more, cos we loved you and miss you! R.I.P
The character in Quadrophenia was a violent thug. Wayne wasn't a thug at all. He was a laidback, nice guy who chased women. So I don't see how it playing both of them is typecasting.
The lady that interviewed Gary Holten was frazzled, even though she thought she had the power to question such a guy with such cleverness amongst his s of, a legend in some minds that feel to recognise
It irritates me the way people refer to a woman as a "lady" but don't bother referring to a man as a "gentleman" and just say "guy" or "bloke" instead. "Lady" should be the equivalent of "gentleman", people so often refer to women in a polite way but don't often use a polite word for men.
all the stick gary got for drink/drugs and it's lesley ash who's pissed as a fart on live tv! don't know much of him outside of AWP - he seemed like a totally authentic geezer but a good guy too. all the girls wanted to shag him and all the blokes wanted to be him. RIP Gary
Great stuff - he still had the attitude in 84 - the only problem is (sorry) - at the start of the song the key is far too low for Gary's voice - it warms up at the end though when he starts shouting like he did in HMK
@thegodparticle the 3rd series was good obviosly not as good an maby the cast wanted to make another series to remind them of the good times they had in the past and to remember Gary also Noel Clark is gd but he shouldn't of been casted they should of had sum1 else cuz in the second series his german wife has a child an it should be that kid.
R.I.P Gary still missed to this day
He is just like his character in Auf W Pet. Sadly missed and died far to young .RIP
All they did was find people that were like the characters they wanted

I watch them all at least once a year. I always google Gary after i finish series 2, his death still resonates. Strange isnt it.
amazing how much he looks like a young Ron Wood in this, with the rock star attitude to boot . Auf Pet was never the same without him.
Grew up with Gary and had a few laughs - sadly missed. Prince of Wales Cleaver Square.Burp!

He is just like his character in Auf W Pet a lot of his friend's said he was just playing himself in the show that the charactor came naturally to him
Rest in peace Gary

Colin you may not liked Gary Holton s acting or singing but a lot off us do. He was great in this comedy show. He died to young he can sing. Your bitter don't disrespect him have some respect .

Rip gary ...with love
He played himself in Auf Wiedersehen but he was a talent and its a shame he died.
Whatever happened to the old Cockney jack-the-lads? The cheeky crappies? They were everywhere when I was growing up.
The were banned by all the "PC" goons I mention above when a soppy girlie whinges on that the last series only failed because Waynes replacement was black--a ridiculous statement, when in fact it failed because the scripts were second-rate and Noel Clarke was a lousy actor and totally unconvincing playing Gary Holtons part.
happy Christmas Gary
Was in Heavy Metal Kids, he was even offered Bon Scotts role in ACDC, apparently. He was just 33....
Charlie Brown Jeeeeez! He was even the same age as Bon when he died. Unbelievable

No. He'd been singing (in the Heavy Metal Kids) for years. He didn't cut it. Much better as an actor.
I'd trade my boring long life for Gary's exciting short life any day
Sorry to say this, but DAM bloody drugs, I know you can say no, but a lot in that crazy world did take drugs. Miss you Gary you were so talented and likable, I dont think there`s anything you could`nt do, just wished maybe you had liked yourself more, cos we loved you and miss you! R.I.P
He was like a dark haired version of Rod Stewart lol.
Sam Holden or Johnny Marr
Was the audience given mogadon prior to Gary's appearance?
he was singer in the damned briefly,77 or 78
Ronnie Wood's love child. 🏃🏃🏃😂😂😂🍺🍺🍷
The good die young....
Gary Shail "Spider" on bass :D
Isn't that the guy from "Rock Star", the blonde dude. The tour manager in the film.
+amsedelm Tim Spall.
+fact gasm Tim Spall?? Tim Spall isn't in this video is he?
Yep that's him, young kid there.
Ah yeah, you mean the clip from Auf Wiedersehen Pet at the beginning. I thought you meant he was playing in the band at the end.
Timothy Spall was also in Still Crazy. Another band movie which co stars Bill Nighy and Jimmy Nail. Highly recommend.
The character in Quadrophenia was a violent thug. Wayne wasn't a thug at all. He was a laidback, nice guy who chased women. So I don't see how it playing both of them is typecasting.
Gary Shail on bass
The lady that interviewed Gary Holten was frazzled, even though she thought she had the power to question such a guy with such cleverness amongst his s of, a legend in some minds that feel to recognise

She was drunk you could tell in her voice .
What? She wasn't "frazzled" at all. And Holton wasn't particularly "clever". He could sing a bit and act a bit; stop getting so carried away.
There was something going on between them definitely 🤣
Isnt the basist in Quadrophenia aswell?
+nathan clark yep...Thats Gary Shail..
Is this on any of his albums ? I can't seem to find it.
R.I.P Gary auf hiedersen m8
all the stick gary got for drink/drugs and it's lesley ash who's pissed as a fart on live tv! don't know much of him outside of AWP - he seemed like a totally authentic geezer but a good guy too. all the girls wanted to shag him and all the blokes wanted to be him. RIP Gary
Was this song ever released on vinyl?
Gary Holton and casino Steel #4
It's such a shame a great talent gone to waste
Lesley ash...mmmm....
Ron Wood?
Great stuff - he still had the attitude in 84 - the only problem is (sorry) - at the start of the song the key is far too low for Gary's voice - it warms up at the end though when he starts shouting like he did in HMK
Died in 1985 sadly.

Is it me or does this dude look like Noel Fielding?
