Thanks for your time in doing my request for a video on HRD. I have just installed the 30 day try version today so your video is very useful and easy to understand. Steve G4YTK
I only contacted support once, on behalf of a viewer, to get an answer to a question. I got a response from the owner and he was very helpful. For my style of operating, I really only need version 5.24 though. I only use it as an interim step to log to QRZ.com. I can log all day and upload a ADIF to QRZ when I’m ready to leave the shack. QRZ can then check for confirmations. HRD also comes in handy when QRZ is down, which, admittedly, seldom happens. This video shows how I use HRD in conjunction with QRZ.com: ruclips.net/video/jwghVY_9F_M/видео.html 73, de N4HNH
@@n4hnhradio Good thanks! I have set up my PR40 and boom. Need to configure EQ still. Your card arrived yesterday, so it has been added to my collection! Poor conditions this week; I have struggled on 20m this week. How are you?
Hi John! 40m was great last night. Quiet and long. I uploaded a document last night that might interest you. It took all day yesterday to create it and I had you in mind while creating it. It is available at www.PATREON.com/N4HNH for Executive and VIP Patreon supporters of N4HNH Radio, like yourself. It is the Menu Optimizations I set for my FTdx5000MP, along with some button and knob settings. There is one for the FT-991A as well, and I intend to create one for the FT-891 and the FTdx10. 73, de N4HNH
I’m no longer using HRD. I use N3FJP. There are videos about it. It has the ability to transmit the radio for CW messages that are stored in the logging program. HRD has similar capabilities. This article might help you: www.arrl.org/files/file/Technology/LinkRemoteControl/RemoteControl.pdf
Doug, I really enjoyed this video. You really did a great job showing how you use HRD. I think I will give it a try. Looks like a really fun suite of software. BTW, What is the STARTUP process? Do you start the rig first then the HRD? And if so is the rig control portion started first or after the logging portion? Or does it not matter? 73 Art W1SWL
Arthur, this is the free version, 5.24. FYI…I conducted a survey via my Patreon portal and N3FJP Logging Software is more popular. I like HRD because of the connection to Google Earth. I start the radio first. HRD needs to connect to a powered transceiver. If not, there is an error message. You can choose demo mode and startup HRD without a radio connection, but you will need to type frequency, band, mode, into the log. And you won’t have rig control. The logbook starts first and rig control starts next, automatically. 73, Doug
@@n4hnhradio Thanks for the reply Doug. At present I use MACLoggerDX on my MAC. It is really good and simple to use. Fully integrated with Google Earth and all the DXclusters. But I am adding in an SDR, the RSPdx which may make me add a Windows compute component to my work flow. At first I will keep the RSPdx separate on a pre-existing windows 11 laptop and then based upon that, I will perhaps build out a Windows machine to do a bit more heavy lifting (logger, and Yeasu Control). Hey that said, have you at all experimented with WIN4YEASU? I do suppose that Ham Radio Deluxe's rig control does just about what WIN4YEASU does as far as functionality is concerned. I have not used either. thx 73 Art W1SWL
Art, to be honest, I’m a knobs and buttons guy. I hardly ever use rig control with the 5000. That said, I do like the way it displays the frequency of my A and B VFO. I made that font and color scheme. HRD allows for such customization. I haven’t tried WIN4YAESU. I downloaded it but the CAT port can only be used by one program at a time and, since my main concern is logging, I chose HRD. If I really want to control my radio via software, I may as well get a Flex Radio or an ANAN. I do use the mouse to control the FTdx10 but that is because the buttons are so close to the VFO. If I had a FTdx101MP that problem would be alleviated but I prefer the 5000 over the 101, for my main rig. The FTdx10 is my backup and my desk barely has room to fit it. 73, Doug
I don’t think so. I don’t work FT8 but my understanding is that the FT-991A has the soundcard built into the radio so all you need is to connect a cable to your computer and configure WSJT-X.
It isn’t as easy to use as some. It just does more. I also like the N3FJP logging program. It is straightforward and easy. Their support is first class. 73, Doug
The free version is still available for download. That’s what I use. It has lots to offer. I only use what I need from it though. My other favorite logging program is N3FJP Amateur Radio Logging Software. I think they do a great job for just straight-ahead logging. And their support is quite legendary. 73, de N4HNH

And sometimes this is not real happy either. I would like to set mine up similar to what you have done. And I would be interested in where you got the software for the virus In the malware I believe I really need to have that in there just for safety I guess. But there would be a time that I will have the DX10 I know that. CW is going to pull out my hair for what I have left. I appreciate all the effort that you put in to your RUclips channel, And I did op in Is to be a Patriot, I don't know if hes know that yet you might let me know. Thanks 73 KQ4CD

I will do my best to keep making them. There are already hundreds of videos on the channel. 73, de N4HNH
The new HRD is well worth $100. If you want help the tech support is terrific. We need to further it's development.

still can't get working right. brain over load
Do you have the driver for the radio installed? You will need the driver from Yaesu in order for the software to communicate with the transceiver.
need to get another monitor everthing is on top one another
@@n4hnhradio I believe so. tried down load the manual for 991a so I down loaded ever thing in the file for
991a. how that the 10 is not like that.
Any chance you could get to the point
