It wouldn’t be optimal for home defense because it would most likely over penetrate. I would recommend the critical defense line bullets as they are highly optimized for defense against 2-legged threats

@@alexlaurent2967 .204 is quite capable, with an excess of 1000 foot pounds of energy at 150 yards. The bullet offerings of only varmint projectiles limit the capabilities of the cartridge. Many people would use this for hogs, some more for deer and antelope - as it is an excellent cartridge for recoil sensitive people. Yes - there would be unethical people trying to use the cartridge beyond the cartridge's capabilities, but these are the same type of people that already exist that rely on magnums to get the job done instead of dedicated shot placement. Shot placement is most important, followed by bullet construction, followed by energy delivery. We need a better constructed .204 bullet. Peregrine monolithics in South Africa offers one for antelope in .204 and it works well. There are several US states and Canadiam provinces that allow any centerfire cartridge for deer / hog / wolf.
Yah because unlike what they said you can't really run supers and subs on the same gas settings no matter what the cartridge. Unless the supers are unsupressed and subs are suppressed but that's a whole different set of problems.
Yes, over gassed will cycle reliably but there's a reason the AR platform has a tune-able gas system. When you're over gassed you get more muzzle rise, more recoil, more wear and tear on the buffer system, more gas in your face from each shot. Lots of cons to being over gassed but at least the rifle will cycle I guess.
@ while true, ive never shot an overgassed rifle where the increased recoil interfered with any follow up shots. Oh and the HK 416, is overgassed from the factory. On purpose.
All I see is "Hey stoopid people come an give us all ya money" and of course there will lots of stoopid people that constantly fall for the marketing BS and can't wait to hand over all their cash.

@@masonmcneill3969 very true, I guess I don't think purely in terms of subs because I actually kill things at distance, but from a purely subs standpoint that totally makes sense. Whatever platform is cheapest/easiest because subsonic is subsonic. 👍😎
With subs especially you need to take twist rate into account as well, the 1-3 twist of the 8.6 has proven to be a game changer
@@masonmcneill3969 dont think this ammo will be so available... the other arc cartridges have struggled to hit the shelves and they had much less controversy behind them. also most factory options are for heavier weights and offer much more sub sonic energy compared to the 8.6. the only thing this one does is fit in a ar 15 instead. which doesnt mean success. this round will be a lead balloon....
6mm 109 ELDMs available general market and not just through GAP, like the 6GT match ammo?
Yes
@hornady hallelujah! Just after I built a 1:8" twist 6GT shooting 108s though, on the basis of 109s being unavailable.... 🥲
Really? No 6.8 PRC? No 338 PRC? No high BC .277 165gr-175gr bullets? No interbond PRC loadings? No high BC interbond bullets? This new 338 ARC is going to flop. It does nothing .300 BLK doesn't already do. Come on guys, I'm a 6.5 PRC owner, I have faith in you guys. At this point y'all need to venture out and listen to your buyer base. I know y'all get asked these questions at trade shows like come on.
why would they make .277 projectiles when they don't make their own ammo in that? they woudl rather focus on what they make themeslves
You think you can whine and they will change? Lol that's bold
I also don't understand what a 338 ARC would do that a 338 Razorback or 338 Spectre doesn't already provide. 7PRC necked down to 6.8 and 300 PRC necked up to 338 - seem like winners. It's great to see Hornady loading 6GT.
@vomitingwithungodlyaccurac3218 somebody had to say it. No one is whining. Those are the culminated ideas of 6 friends and myself. We all agree on it. People ask them all the time about the interbond bullets. I'm expressing public opinion to them. If no one buys this junk, then how will they make money? Have you ever heard of "Right to protest"? You have a better idea of some products that people will buy? Because evidently they don't.
@WayStedYou more market share? They're a bullet company.. "They make bullets. " It's like a tire company not making tires for a certain car manufacturer. I'm not the only person who has been asking for them. Therefore, more money that they are leaving off the table.
6mm GT... aka 243 winchester shorter but fatter. same performance.
Team Red 👍😁👍
Hornady are still making 30 mauser????
Oh yeah, can't wait!!!
WE NEED WEIGHT RETAINING .204 CALIBRE BULLETS!!!
MONOS OR BONDED
Genuinly curious what you'd use them for? 204 ruger on antilope maybe? My state has a 22 cal minimum for big game so I've never really considered 20 cal for anything other than paper or pest control
When 6.8 western ammunition?
They make their own in 7PRC lol
@Unpleasantries69 yea, but 7prc sucks
@@OutdoorBoys.308 womp womp got tricked into buying a lead balloon I see
@Unpleasantries69 ok if you say so. Mine shoots 3034fps and get .25 inch groups what does your 7prc get 2800fps 😅🤣😂
they sadly have said they wont touch it. probably because they got beat to the ball on the 270 projectile prc
Anyone else notice how over gassed the AR-15 shooting the .338 ARC was?
Yah because unlike what they said you can't really run supers and subs on the same gas settings no matter what the cartridge. Unless the supers are unsupressed and subs are suppressed but that's a whole different set of problems.
Overgassing is not a big of an issue as people make it out to be. Id rather have my rifle overgassed than undergassed
On purpose.
Did they buy Henderson’s trimmer?
negative
Nope just a ripoff. Hopefully they lose the lawsuit
Aeroprecision = Berger
I need a cigarette !
Whats the point of .338 arc? Doesn't 8.6 blackout do the same thing?
This one fits in an AR-15. 8.6 Blackout requires the AR-10 platform.
Hype
6.5 SAUM please
What is the velocity of the 175 gr .338 ARC?
2075 fps 16"
HEAVY BREATHING
All I see is "Hey stoopid people come an give us all ya money" and of course there will lots of stoopid people that constantly fall for the marketing BS and can't wait to hand over all their cash.
Then there is your level of stupid
Give us the goods!😁
.338 ARC will be a flop. Ballistics will be terrible and there's no need for it.
I was going to show this video to my wife but I’m afraid Seth’s stash will get her pregnant
I need 300 H&H Mag Ammo and Brass
Ya ya
I see something that works for me
338 arc ... lol, no thanks
idk what you guys in the US think abt using hornady ammo in bolt action rifles however my rifles (im from sweden) beeing tikka t3x, carl gustaf 1900 , sako s20 and ruger american go wild 450bm. hornady ammo simply dosnt work in any of these rifles... the ammo either get stuck going into the chamber or you cant close the bolt properly/hard to open when shot. then there is ur video here on youtube when you compare ur bullets to normas, basicly smack talking norma with 0 respect, (basicly the largest hunting ammo company in EU, working into the US. for these reasons i have 0 trust in hornady.
I've had dangerous results with Superformance for 7mm Rem Mag. Don't recall any other issues, but I don't buy a lot of factory ammo. Threw the remaining Superformance in the trash.
False statement on cast boolits. Without a doubt, the best projectile for dangerous game is a cast boolit!
The marketing guy is a laugh....
Meh....
You guys have done alot for the 2a community over the years, so can we stop the trend of flinging crap at the wall just to see what sticks?! Innovation is in the toilet while copy catting is at an all time high.
Ripped off Henderson Bench trimmer design as well….
Ethan Lessard did it better!
By “New Products” you mean…Let’s steal others ideas and capitalize. No sense in doing our own work.
When are you guys going to make a 10mm round people actually want to buy? Guess I will stick with Buffalo Bore and Underwood, your offerings in the 10mm are a fricken joke.
Seriously, like the critical duty 40 caliber and the critical duty 10mm is like a 10 fps difference. There should be a pretty serious gap in 40 to 10mm, not 10 fps there’s no point in going 10mm at that point
Why is there no 17WSM anywhere to be bought, I have submitted hoards of emails and NOBODY will even acknowledge me from this company WTF is going on here, this is NOT the company I have been dealing with all these years!
.338ARC, sign me up!
