I'm splitting it via a Boss DD7 at the end of my pedal chain. Very helpful tips here for checking things over and making sure I get it right. Thanks for posting this.

I see now i could use the HumX box and reverse the signal polarity on the one amp that sounds thin and bright when usually that amp is mellow and i add more treble usually so it is out of phase ! Great explanation as i have had all kinds of mysterious difficulty getting a consistant sound with two amps ! Thanks you so much , i love to get a great guitar sound as best i can with what i have !

I used to mess around with using my kustom combo and Ceriatone plexi in tandem at church, I would use an old style ground lift and an ABY box I made out of a tuna can. Thing works great
In addition to ensuring speaker phase, I recommend A/B/Y boxes that have ground lift and phase reversal, as well as at least one transformer isolated output. The Radial Switchbone JX2 is my favorite, but they also make others that cost less. It solves the issues quickly with two switches, though any effect pedals still need to be used before it to maintain phase, like you said. Thanks for another excellent, useful video.
Radio Shack isn't out of business, they just closed most of their stores. There are still some stores left and they're online as well. All the stores in my area are closed though, and there were 5 within 10 minutes drive time.
I use a Radial ab/y switcher box that has a phase switch and ground lift all on the pedal and they are not horribly priced either. I believe Earthquaker makes a really nice one as well, however a bit more pricey. I'm going to try and pick up the Earthquaker and see how it stacks up to my Radial ab/y switcher box.
Before buying one, I made one out of a tuna can with ground isolation jacks and i never had to buy one. It looks pretty bad but the thing delivers. I’ve even used radials since then, and don’t experience any difference.
Now that's interesting: I knew about the ground lift, the phase, the isolated power supplies, the speaker cones pushing or pulling, but I did not think about the phase inversions on some effects that are off or on... I am playing 3 amps at a time and I've just ordered a Headlight box from Radial Engineering (Ground lift / phase /isolated transfo on each channel) to avoid the hum / hiss / loss of signal. Cross fingers I just hope it works w/o pedals interfering with the whole process...!

Excellent video! I’m running strymons into my jcm900 and an ac30 & running into this now. What a bitch. The effects on the Marshall are in the effects loop and the ac30 is in the front. I added an ABY just to kill the ac30 when the don’t need stereo but I’ve gotten so used to stereo that mono sounds hollow to me now. Hope the hum x works 🤞🏼
I have a little fender amp that has effects and drum and a little looper on it but it's little and I have a huge Ibanez with no effects just your regular knobs, is it possible to take the guts out of the little amp or the head and put it in the big amp to make the effects run through the bigger amp ????? I mean I could even install the head backwards so I don't have to ruin my big amp if I just find the wires that go down to the speaker when I ripped the head out that should work in theory right?
Very good tutorial Sir !!..... but not sure I got it all yet !!..............haha! I am playing two handwired JTM45's and my right amp has an effect loop with a TC stereo delay plugged in, left side of the delay is feeding the other amp .......do I still need to cancel one of the ground wire leg ? Cabinets are two 4X12's 16 ohms each loaded with Pre Rola's. Thanks for your time and work !........................appreciate !
Yes, those devices work fine especially if you use a lot of pedals and are not that concerned with your tone. That thing will put your guitar signal through a printed board and transformers to accomplish what you can do without touching your guitar signal.
What’s the difference between the hum x and the in-line stereo trs hum eliminator? Does it effect the tone less taking care of it right at the wall? Will the hum eliminator maybe take care of other noise too?
Hey Bob. Thank you for the Great information on your channel. It’s super helpful. If you do have stereo effects going to two amps, and they do give you phase issues when turned from on - off - on, can you do anything to correct that problem so you can use your favorite delay, reverb, etc. ?
My experience of this, is that the phase problem appear when the sound convert to mono (f.ex. mixing in mono) As long as the stereo sound is panned hard left/right. At least I, haven't any problem yet... But my dry sound is in phase. Anyway, keep a solid distance between the two speakers. At least 6 feet.
You can probably wire up the guitar and seperate the pickups. One pickup for one amp and one pickup for the other amp. And two wires plugged into the guitar
If anybody's still commenting, a question - if a phase issue on one of the 2 amps is found, instead of the "Radio Shack" box to convert positive/negative to negative/positive, it would seem that a dedicated (and clearly marked) cable with just one end rewired (positive / negative swap) and the other end untouched could be run to the offending amp; wouldn't this serve the same purpose?
Mr. Gjika, I am older player and have only in the last 2 yrs began playing on a tube amp. I don't have gobs of cash so the tube amp I bought was a 15 watt monoprice that I swapped the tubes to jj's. I have wanted to play in stereo for a long time and I searched on YT on finding a rig. I would love a Magnatone but then again I'd like to play like SRV and Gilmour. So I'm buying another Mono and swapping tubes and hooking those 2 together. You say it's a 50 50 shot when it comes to in and out of phase. With the amps being the same I shouldn't have any issues, right? I know this part will be silly to ask but how much would a stereo rig from you cost. Really liked your playing and your vid was informative. At least what I could understand. Peace and health.

the isolation has to occur on the mains power supply - the front end inputs are about phasing, not isolation
