I have a 5 ton unit hanging from the ceiling in my studio that's about 18' up in the air. My failure to maintain this trap is what was causing my induction motor and exhaust to fill with water and trip the pressure switch resulting in a 31 code (three fast flashes and one long flash). I flushed it out so things in the studio don't freeze and break. I have a kit coming in from California to replace it right. I haven't touched it in about 5 years. I thought the drain line was icing again- this time it was sediment blocking flow in the trap. I know all about filters, jets, induction fans, flame sensors and the like. I didn't know about the trap being $40- and needing to be cleaned or replaced every year. Now I do!
