If you still dislike it, I’d say put more things on top of it that you LOVE.. to distract you from the color and to not have it be that negative corner in your place. If you decide to keep what you already have on it, then move away any statement piece from its space, so people’s eye dont go directly to it as they come in
I think the stove is really beautiful. you can take attention away from the red by putting a light blond wood shelf unit beside it on that wall. something that doesnt come to far out from the wall, but is at least 4 feet high. Style it with the colors of your living room and it should help to draw the colors from the rest of the room over to that side. The rug ties in beautifully with the stove. Good choice there. You could put a Large mirror on that side too, to reflect the rest of the room onto that wall. or a gallery of mirrors to draw some attention away from the stove. DO NOT Paint It.

You can buy a new mountable gas fire place that hangs on the wall for around $300 I would replace that one with a newer more modern one that hangs on the wall and run the gas poppies into it from the wall.
The stove is GORGEOUS, just the right shade of red. Perhaps you should make peace with it, embrace it. Place something you love, or something special on it. Give it love!!!!

I love the gas fireplace. I would not paint it. You need one pop of color in your living room.
