Transformers: Dark of the Moon is a 2011 American science fiction action film based on Hasbro's Transformers toy line. The film is the third installment in the Transformers film series and the sequel to Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen (2009). The film is directed by Michael Bay and written by Ehren Kruger.
In the present day, two years after Egypt,[N 1] the Autobots assist humanity in preventing major conflicts. On Earth, Optimus uses the energy of the Matrix of Leadership to revive Sentinel.

I've seen this theory
Not sure TBH. Out of all the Autobots, Optimus was the only one Sentinel seemed to care for even slightly. He could have killed him multiple times in the movie, like when he activated the space bridge, but he didn't go through with it until the end. He wanted Optimus to join him, and only decided to kill him when he realized that Optimus wasn't going to join him.

Well the last thing he remembers was being in a war, happens a lot to patients who’s last thing they remember was fighting.
The reason I think this theory is dumb is because using some random planet to rebuild Cybertron was probably the plan all along, the reason Prime didnt continue was due to the discovery of Earth being massively populated. But Sentinel didnt care. Theres the conflict. Optimus wouldnt sacrifice an entire random race for the survival of his own, but Megatron would. Even though his morals and way of thinking and leading are way different to Sentinel and the autobots, him and Sentinel want to achieve the same thing. Sentinel saw an oportunity there, and took it. He chose to use Megatron and his army of decepticons to sacrifice one planet for the other, even if that meant betraying the soldiers he once led.
though I could be wrong, the only reason I rewatch the bayverse movies is for the action scenes lol
Dark of the moon is the most underappreciated transformers story EVER. I found the story genuinely interesting.
