    My dad was from Brighton, so we were there quite a bit as kids. It's crazy how much it has changed since the 90s..

    I lived in Brighton from '86- ,'00. Basically it was home from kindergarten to high school. I loved it in those days, but last time I visited it was unrecognizable from the way I remember it.
    As a kid we had Little Professor Books,Discs and Tapes and the old library down by the Mill Pond.
    Huron Meadows MetroPark was one of my favorite hiking trails.
    I've still got family there but as I said, I left Brighton at the turn of the millennium after high school and never looked back.

    You left out some beautiful neighborhoods on Hamburg Rd near Malby that may not technically be in Brighton per se but, they have Brighton mailing addresses. Neighborhoods such as Campbell Row, Setters Pointe, and Pine Valley.

    I grew up in Brighton, 68 years ago, I liked Brighton long ago, better than I do now, to busy and crowded now, ruined our small town!

    Wow that video makes it look dreary and miserable. I've been looking at Brighton houses on Zillow and I get the impression that Brighton is very rural with lots of trees and lakes. With houses that back up to lakes with walking nature paths. And I'm guessing that's how it was a decade or more ago. But this video highlights that's not the case. Brighton doesn't look much different than cities around Detroit.
    What's worse is on zillow there are a bunch of listings selling acres of green areas, namely property with a lot of trees. That's horrible. The main draw to Brighton IMHO, is being outdoors, clean air. But those subdivisions look like someone razed a forrest and put up houses 10 feet apart. That's nasty. Why live in Brighton when I can get that in Macomb county? Or basically just about any where.

      I lived in Brighton since 2012, and there is still plenty of trees and lakes! He didn't show Hilton Road or Brighton Road where a lot of that exists. Its very beautiful in the fall and it definitely stands out with it's scenery compared to places like Novi or Northville where i used to live most of my life.

      They must have flashed by faster than the eye could see, but Pine Creek is chock full of amazing 100' tall pine trees, and lots of lakefront homes on Brighton Lake. Similarly, the Oakpointe (not shown) development about 3 miles due west of downtown was built on parkland that had retained lots of magnificent oaks and hickories, and many of the lots still had those beauties to give buyers an option of whether than wanted sunny or shady yards. There are three nice lakes in the vicinity, too, and some of the Oakpointe homes are lakefront or lake view. Also, parts of the townships outside of the city have lots of small to medium glacial hills and ridges. Macomb county is (mostly) flat as a pool table, devoid of mature trees (in the south end) and has just about zero lakes except for Lake St. Clair. In no way are the two locations comparable.

      Wow. Someone OD’ing in meijer parking lot is your example of Brighton being the worst place on the planet?

    • @Yesquire0
      @Yesquire0 25 дней назад

      @@jmack56 The guy is being a bit harsh with that one example, but when I moved to Brighton in part to escape a gang and drug problem at Sterling Heights H.S. near Detroit, I didn't do my homework and after moving in was dismayed to learn that Brighton H.S. was a hotbed of drugs and dealers. Having said that, illicit drugs are everywhere in the nation. You cannot escape them.
