Looks like you have a good chair on your kayak. That is very important. No way I'm gonna fish on one with a cheap foam pad.
A good seat will be the dealbreaker for a lot of first time yakkers

Kayak vs a boat no comparison but if its all you have its far better than fishing from shore
Damn true rather have a kayak than trying to fish by all the damn trees and bushes. I wasn't able to get in the river where I needed to with waders.
I bring a pvc tube with a cap on one end to pee in ..then rinse it out after every use..I been kayakfishing for 15 yrs,never stood up to fish not once..I have a ocean kayak and a jackson,both are capable of me standing up in..both have good primary and secondary stability
Some days I stand all day some days I sit. My 106mk is crazy stable and the seat is the most comfortable seat I own.
It’s speed & time is what sucks about kayak fishing to me. Can’t travel far or get there fast.
I prefer kayak fishing rivers and creeks. Easier to get to shore for a break. But yes, after a couple hours on a lake my back hurts too, and the seat doesn't matter.
I stand all the time in mine. Solid as hell.
And as a boy, I hang it usually to the right, and pee. Poop is always a pregame routine

I've been kayak fishing for 3 years and I have never stood up on it to fish. I rigged up a turkey hunting chair in mine and I am basically like sitting like I'm in a recliner. Very comfortable.
I love kayak fishing because I can get places other people can't get. I will fish at my local dam and kill the trout. The majority of people who fish there are wade fishing the current but I will paddle past them about 75 yards to the base of the dam (while not generating and they keep a strict, posted schedule) and fish the deeper water there. I've caught 24 trout in 3.5 hours last week and a several of those were 20"+ rainbows and browns. The whole time I'm in plain view of the half dozen or so people wade fishing. They may have caught 5 or 6 between them all.
It's a guilty pleasure of mine. 🤣🤣🤣
I would like to clarify that I don't actually "kill the trout". I catch and release.
I don't have any problems with people who do keep some for eating but I reread my comment and I didn't want people thinking I was keeping large quantities of trout for no reason.
You need to get your balance good enough to be able to stand up and stretch your legs if you are going to kayak fish. I don't really care about casting while standing which I can do if I really want to but being able to stretch those legs is really important.

When I wanted to keep fishing and had to pee I managed to somewhat succeed but peed on myself enough to never try that again haha

haha...i have a portable toilet that i always have in my kayak and i used it once(for #2) so far. it was a bit of a challenge to not fall in the water, but it worked out great..:) . and next time i think i'll try to find a place on land to use it..:) i don't want to fall in the water with my pants down...lol
