- "Dark Envoy is about 70% of a great game. This fantasy steampunk cRPG from second-time developer Event Horizon features buttery smooth real-time combat with a tactical pause option, a robust skill system that rewards experimentation, an engaging and heartfelt fully-voice acted story, fan service, and dozens of narrative decisions each with tangible consequences. Alas, Dark Envoy is also 30% of a terrible game, as its lip sync is among the worst I’ve ever encountered, its janky cutscenes consistently break player immersion, rebinding keys barely works if at all, and on multiple occasions the game’s broken reload save function sent me irreversibly back in time 30 minutes or more... and I don’t like that kind of thing."

Yep! ELEX 2 is a perfect example of a game that's great fun despite it being complete and utter trash :) reviewing it was the most fun I've ever had reviewing a game.
@@MEGAthemicro Elex 1 was wonderful once I gave it a chance and got used to how bloody difficult it is at times early on. The second one is awesome too, I'm near the end of it but I don't know what to do now lol

It's gotta be rough to have worked on a CRPG for years only to release it just after Balur's Gate 3 has raised the bar to ridiculous heights.
I know... I'm hopeful that Dark Envoy escapes BG3's event horizon because it was self-published by a small, second-time dev (fittingly named Event Horizon). Folks tend to be more forgiving of indie games from small teams. We'll see!
Baldur's Gate 3 isn't an rpg it's a dating sim for 🏳️🌈
These aren't ridiculous complaints, this is just the basics. Voice/lip synch complaints have been around for a long time (see: Mass Effect Andromeda). Having limited saves in a CRPG is idiotic. Having things bug out in cutscenes, see Cyberpunk and a host of other games. Every studio knows what they have to do and they have for a decade or more, they just don't do it.
BG3 is too woke, which has been happening with most higher budget projects, this looks like its just a normal game not pushing agendas, so its quite welcomed, much rather play a game with some jank than one following "modern day" gaming bs.
