  • In this video i show an old school cheater mono amp from 1996 made by rockford fosgate.
    Rockford rated this amp 200 watts @ 1 ohm.
    I found an old article from an italian audio magazine where they were at the RTTI and tested the Power 50m with 32 10" 4 ohm woofers.
    At the End of this clip i show some internal components of this amp
    Note that this is a resistive load test which is harder for the amp than with speakers which impedance is higher and not fixed.
    Tested with 1 kHz burst signal.
    I introduce my new dummy load, now i got 8 resistors, 4 x 1 ohm resistors 1000 watts each and another 4 resistors with 3.9 ohms 1000 watts each.
    With these resistors i can perform tests with up to 8000 watts of continous power or 24.000 watts short term power.

    Back in the day I ran a punch 60 bridged into 1.33 ohms for almost a year before it got stolen. They were amazing for their time.

      you are correct. here in germany we faced no problems with mono 2 ohms. but some people installed their amps in the glovebox with high outdoor temperatures, so no chance for the semiconductors to breathe was given 🙁
      but some of the smaller 4 channel punches dont like 1 ohm per channel. they dont deliver more power then.

    The Rockford Fosgate punch series were beast. I have a Rockford Fosgate Punch 200 x2 trans ana ampfier. I have had it for many years now. It has never been opened for anything. They were considered cheater amps back in the day. They were Very underrated amps and you could get into a lower class competition and beat the crap out of everyone with them. Even till this day they are expensive to buy even used. Great video on showing the power that the old school Rockford Fosgate will deliver.

    Great video and awesome numbers from that PUNCH POWER 50m!!! I will definitely hang on to mine knowing that it could really be brought down to .25 ohm's!!! In the past I had heard that from several people on the internet, but now after watching your video I know it can be done for sure!!! 👍👍👍 Even though I never really had the intention of selling it considering that I brought it with the matching pair of my PUNCH POWER 50x2 amp as well!!! Both amps cost me $545.00 on Ebay back in 2015!!! Would you say that's a good price for both amps considering that they are both in mint condition???

    • @audiokeller1975
      @audiokeller1975  2 года назад +3

      i think in the us the rocks have a much bigger value than here. sometimes you get like new condition amps for under 100 bucks in good working order. i checked ebay in the states - all offers are much higher priced than most of them here. so this is hard to answer.

      To run this amp at .25 ohms at 619 watts like it showed in your video, what kind of RMS would a pair of subwoofers have to have each subwoofer???

    • @audiokeller1975
      @audiokeller1975  2 года назад +1

      you would need a pair of subs with 0.5 ohm each. But you cant compare this because a woofer is not a resistor. a woofer is changing its impedance. impedance rises depending on box design and frequency. the resistor doesnt do that.
