Vid is good. Unsure if it’s just the way your video is edited but it doesn’t look like you are holding your mobility poses very long - when I had physio he stressed the need to hold a pose for about 20 seconds - not overstretch nor rock (repetitively stretch and relax). I sound like I’m describing yoga but you know what I mean 😊
In CS now, not easy, you make me miss the city… only way id move back is if i could get a job like yours and a place like yours.

Could you please tell us which tools and apps you use on a day to day basis? I’m currently debating on whether to buy a MacBook or windows. I currently use several different tools and apps on my windows laptop for coding, cloud computing, data science, cybersecurity, etc. Would I still be able to reach the massive level of productivity on a MacBook as I do on my windows?
Why did you switch to the pro after having the MacBook Air 15 inch ? Was something not up to par for your working conditions/ lag with the air model ?

The configuration depends on what you’re trying to do. For general coding, it’s way more than what you need for general software engineering.
I’m sure you have better performance when docked. But. When mobile, do you regret getting the 14? Currently debating which size myself!
Not who you were talking to, but figured I'd share my insight. My co-workers and I travelled across Europe with our 16" laptops, and hated it. They're very big and bulky and the screens are still relatively small all things considered. The portability boost you get with the 14" is well worth the very slightly reduced screen real estate. I bought a 14" next and travelled Europe & Japan with it and it was a much better experience.

Can someone tell me that I have purchased 512 gb ssd otherwise same model as his in the vid. macbook pro m3 pro 14 inch. But I was worrying about the storage so can I use external hard disk and will it perform the same as internal storage??
I guess it depends what machine you were using before. MKBHD is keeping his M1 Pro, but if you were wtill on Intel, its a big leap..Shame about the white power brick....IMO

The M3 Pro MBP doesn't really add much for SEs. Marginal CPU boost. Good SEs are still doing a great job on the M1 MBP or Lenovo ThinkPad T14s.
The biggest improvements are on the iGPU. This is strongly noticeable on the M3 Max. Video/photo editors, ML, gaming, and medical imaging benefit the most.
Problem is they don’t sell M1 Mac’s anymore and for the price they have you might as well get M3

@@hank20090depends on their role - a SWE fits into all the use cases you mentioned
"The M3 Pro MBP doesn't really add much for SEs. " - being able to support two external displays rather than one (as with the base M3) will be important to some people. As will the additional TB port.
@@TheDanEdwards That is comparing it to the M3 base. When comparing it to the M2 Pro or even the M1 Pro, most SE still get great value. The work is CPU intensive, and the marginal CPU improvements don't warrant another $2k spend in USD.
Even Lenovo ThinkPad's T14, most SE are happy with them. They usually produce Geekbench 6 multi-core scores of 8,000 to 10,000 (Using Intel 12th or 13th gen P series CPUs).

Be careful with the dust near the laptop! Apple's latest MacBook Pro models, powered by M3 processors, are facing a screen malfunction issue known as 'Dustgate. ' Dust accumulation in the hinge gap damages the display cable, impacting functionality.

No it's not lol, only older models are affected by that issue.
@@TheMickysucks I stand corrected, only Mack Book Pro models from 2018 to 2020 period are affected by Dustgate.
Other than that, I stand by my opinion with the soldered components and improper cooling of the Mack Books .
