I am refinishing a child's rocking chair and is it ever tedious.I have strips of sand paper that I have attached duct tape to the back of so it doesn't tear but it also doesn't stretch.I have an assortment of power sanders but none of them is really adequate for all the various curved surfaces.Glad to know about this stretchy sandpaper. I sure haven't seen it in stores so I guess I'll check on line. Thanks for sharing, I enjoyed your video very much.
I’ve used both, 0000 steel wool does a good final buff too, the coarser stuff always seemed to leave a dark oxide dust that had to be removed, not to mention the metal splinters!
i cant find this product anywhere maybe its because this video is 7yrs old and its discontinued i don't suppose you know of a modern equivalent to this?
WELL I JUST GO ME 4 CHAIRS that want a lot of sanding. Been on one most of the day and then I wondered if any one had a better way and their you are thank you.
This product has serious potential, if it were available anywhere in the San Francisco bay area. All the Home Depots within a 100 mile radius of me do not have this product. Is this because this is so new or because the stores cannot keep it in stock because it sells out so fast?
Like any sandpaper, the more layers, the more elbow grease it takes to get down to the bare wood. You should consider a chemical stripper first for removing heavy paint and sand after to smooth the raised grain from the stripping
I usually wrap regular sand paper around a wadded up rag and use that to naturally conform to the shaped edges and curve. Similarly, I use either a foam sanding sponge or a wood block wrapped with sand paper to address the 90 degree ledges or ogee from the shaper or router. There really is no right or wrong way when sanding by hand, just don’t overdo it and be careful not to ruin the shape.
I have paint on top of paint on top of paint on my staircase spindles. I’m sure there are a few layers. You think these are worth my investment of sanding/“removing” some of that older paint before trying to reapply a fresh coat?
Thanks mate from merry old england.👍

A 3M radial bristle disc works great on those intricate places on raw wood.

Genius!!!
How does it work with layers of paint?

How do you sand the edges on the top of your table?

you can also use a a radial bristle disc . it goes in drill takes off paint without damage to wood . harbor frieght has them for under 5 dollars
THAAAAAANK YOOOUUUUU
👍👍👍👍
But you are sanding accross the grain...doesn't that introduce sanding scratches?
Not if it's done properly. This is how all sanding on a wood lathe is done.
I used this years ago and now I can't find it
Clutch
Thank you
