- I had to sit down and sign 8,000 books in roughly 8 hours! I was able to spread it across two signing sessions in order to save my hand from too much pain, but we were able to make it through.
If you watch this at 2x speed, each signature is about as quickly as Brandon writes chapters normally.
(Yes I went for the lowest of low-hanging fruit jokes)
Lol
Almost.
Considering he did 5-6 revisions of each books and he takes about 1.5y for each Stormlight so each revision is about 3 months. I take about 3 months to finish each Stormlight. He literally writes faster than I read.
@@hunterkillerai While this is funny, not all revisions cost the sime amount of time :) And certainly writing it doesn't cost the same amount of time as one revision 😂
...But if you account for the time for alpha and beta readers to get back at him... Yeah, he still writes faster than we read.
I love that it takes a dozen people for you to sign books this efficiently.
Have you ever talked with John Green about your collective interest with signing things? I'm curious which of you has signed more things.
Brandon coming after John green's thrown.
john signs tip-in sheets! so he can sign much faster individually. but i have no idea which has the record for signings overall, since brandon has more published books
It is becoming truly standalone what yall are doing with what it means to be an author, in my opinion. You really have quite the machine going, and I think we all likely are completely underestimating your endgame. Kudos!
Hah hah, sign off
Still astonishes me how much of a work horse Brandon is.
Fantasy torchbearer hard at work!
Same
He is an inspiration. I think he is proof of what can be achieved with diligent organization and preparation.
his work ethic is extremely inspirational
It’s soon gonna be more unique to have a non-signed Sanderson book than a signed one! 😂😂😂
This is hilarious 🤣
@@jamescaldwell2357 That's patently untrue lol. I just took 5 seconds to look on eBay and his signed books are all worth more than the unsigned versions. Especially with a Hanklerfish.
@@uiomi it was a joke
@@uiomi WOOOOSH
He has sold 34 millions books :)
Rumour has it they didn't actually speed up the video -- this is just how fast Brandon signs
🤣🤣🤣
He was also writing SA 5 under the table
Another proof of how committed he is to his community. How can you not admire this guy!
So true. People are always asking me why I admire and appreciate Brandon so much. Yes, the books are all fantastic. It's more than that though. It's the open communication, the respect, the work ethic, the commitment to family life and strong values, and then it's the literature. Love this man.
Idk, i do appreciate him very much, but all these signing are pretty meaningless to me. Just a waste of time, money and handache.
@@tikotap277 I get what you mean, but for the fans who are expecting a signed copy with so much illusion, it is not a waste of time at all. I don't see a waste of money so much as a hand ache. I don't know how he doesn't have a galloping tendinitis.
@@cilliansands6166 Yeah, i dont really get it. What is the difference that worths hundreds of hours from Brandon, thousands of dollars from fans and for... a signature hand drawn by your favourite author? A printed number?
I get why it's nice, but i dont get why it's worth it.
When Brandon said “what are we doing today Adam?” He should have said “the same thing we do ever day Brandon, sign cytonic books”
That was a missed opportunity for sure!
This man is living the dream. I'm sure his hand is in agony but the sheer joy from being surrounded by your own books and knowing there are thousands of fans dying to get their hands on a signed copy must be a high unlike anything else. Hard to think of anyone more deserving. Hardest worker and most consistent writer in fantasy right now. I may not love every book he puts out but there has yet to be one I haven't at least liked.
It’s an absolute dream to enter a warehouse and see shelves filled with your novels. It must feel so… incredible. I can’t for Cytonic. I binge read the second novel lol
Adam looks WAY different than I expected!
We normally focus on the author, but it's cool to see the behind the scenes work of the support team.
You know I think this really puts it into perspective. Like Brandon might be the writer/main focus, bit like there are 20 People backing him up and allowing him to just focus on his thing. And I think this is really reflective of just any organization, company, government, etc.
1000 books per hour? Damn, couldn’t imagine it
That's 3.6s/book
Those Doomslug plushies are too precious.
I love how they took the Doomslugs down when moving the bookshelves behind Brandon and then put them back on the replacement bookshelves!
@@jeffweskamp3685 they need to be protected! 🤣
How many markers did this consume?
15:45 I love that y'all kept in the time-lapse of Sando just drinking boba
Brandon, you're a beast! I swear you are the hardest working person in the industry!!! Your entire team operates like a well oiled machine. I'm sure everyone was ready for a nap after this event 😆
Does anyone know why there are 3 different covers/inside flaps? I saw purple, black and white. Are there different versions of the book?
The uk version is a different cover to the USA one for sure
I know he was signing some Rhythm of War and one of the first Misborn series books eventually
The smile in this man's face while signing literally thousands of books is just priceless. You're an idol for a reason, Sanderson. God bless you~
Hazlo! Brandon es lo máximo
That's awesome! Translation for those who need it: "The only reason I want to learn English is to understand what my favorite author says."
I once had to sign 17 sets of documents. Each needed to be signed a few times and all pages needed to be initialed. So all in all its about 400 signings. My hand was falling off by the end. I had cramps all over my hand. Brandon just did 8,000. In one sitting. Holy moly.
This reminds me of when John Green published and was like, “I wanna sign an entire print run.” And penguin was like, “That’s never been done.” And John was like, “I’m doing it.”
I'm so used to Adam being a disembodied voice that the intro kind of threw me 😂
Please don’t hurt your hands permanently for fans lol! We need you to have them so you can make more amazing books 😂 thank you for all you do
This video inspires me to be a published author.
It lets me know that one day I too can spend my days signing books till my wrist feels like it belongs to a 14 year old who discovered the internet
I love those overhead shots. Seeing the entire staff cycling all around him is really amazing.
Omigosh I can’t even imagine how much everyone’s backs were hurting after that!
I totally did not expect Adam to look like this. Nice beard btw!
It's always good to see you, Adam!
I would love a behind the sceens of the printing company tor. The machines making books.
This guy really loves his fans ❤
Thats about one book every 3-4 seconds.
Can I get my audible copy signed 😍
Brandon will-and has-sign phones and other audible devices. You'll just have to catch him at an in-person signing
That's not the face I imagined for Adam
That’s exactly what I think every time I cross a mirror…
We finally got to see Producer Adam! Brandon couldn't do all this media stuff without you Adam. We all appreciate you!
Adoooonalsiiiiium
The girl to the left just yeeting away the books after Brandon finish signing them looks hilarious especially when it is not speeded up
Yeah, she had too good a time doing that.
@@adamhorne738 Must have been quite a work out also though those books do look heavy
Signing 8000 books at once! His hand must hurt.
Adam looks like he could be Brian McClellans brother
Brandon out here keeping America's unemployment rate down in these troubled times. 🔥
I love the multi tasking of signing and letting fan base in on behind the scenes work combined with give away. Makes every activity serve many purposes and everyone is happy. Hope Brandon's hand is ok that is a lot of signing.
Does this qualify as breaking the guiness book of world records for most books signed in a single session? Or does that have to be in a public space with people coming in to get books signed. The world record, from what I saw, is 6,904.
WOOOOOW way to go team! Props to the team and HUGE congrats on the success for everything you do, Brandon!
I have never read any of Sanderson's books but I am constantly in awe of him. This is truly remarkable and shows your appreciation for the community that support you.
Great video :)
2:51 He's signing mine that i picked up at the con :)
My right arm and shoulder hurt just watching this
Adam is a good looking dude
Yay! Screen time for Adam!
I missed a prize by 4 numbers, so close 😫
Adam's face is somehow like 94% identical to how my mind viewed him. Have we ever seen him before?
Sounds like you have a terrible imagination...
Way to go Kara and crew, y'all are awesome. Go Brett
Brandon Signderson xd
I kept waiting for the doom slugs to " magically " appear in other places during the video..😏😏😏
This was one of my favorites up to date- it was great to be a part of this.
Forget about writing. Can you teach a lecture on HOW TO BE THE MOST LIKEABLE AND WHOLESOME PERSON EVER
This is a well-oiled machine - I mean the whole team, not only Brandon 🤩
I love this man, his dedication to his fans is why he is my number one author. Long live Brandon!
That's Producer Adam!
Can some do a gif from 21:41 to 21:54 of Brandon reading put that on a live stream for Lofi Cosmere Beats for reading?
Reading Cytonic right now!
These books were not copy printed, they were all individually written by Brandon.
Thanks for all the hard work you do for your fans Brandon 🥰🥰
Hey I got one of those books ! It was a great event.
I want Stormlight Archive 5 signed by this great man
apology accepted Adam
I’ll try and make it up to you.
@@adamhorne738
This was great! You should do one of these for your leather-bound books
Sneaky sneaky, you just want him to reprint the leatherbounds ;3
I do too lmao
While this would be fun, we try to limit how much we handle the leatherbound editions. So for those, we sign signatures (16 page inserts) and send them to the printer to be bound. That way we send as pristine copies as possible.
@@joshuaholdsworth3897 LOL That is exactly correct! I really don't even care about the signature (it would be nice!) I just want the leather-bound available! They are super cool!
@@adamhorne738 that is completely fair. Thank you
Brandon is the best, what an amazing human being ❤
Basically Brandon (and Stephen King) are the rule against with I measure all other authors.... Barely anybody else measures up....
Thanks to you and your entire team, Brandon! You guys always work so hard for us fans and we appreciate it!
This is bonkers.
Congratulations to 110, 490, 2221, 389, 2916, 2122, 2590, thank goodness he needed a new pen for each 3086 and 3798 and last prize 4170. 😀
So there were obviously a couple other books in the mix there. Were they just special editions, or were there some other hard copies that needed signing?
I for sure saw some copies of Skyward, so I presume there was also a couple stacks of Starsight. I also saw, judging by relative thickness, something from Stormlight.
Wow, this is incredible! :)
Who else here is looking for the book they got 😂
Huge applause to the whole team. So much work goes on behind the scenes around Mr. Sanderson at Dragonsteel, we certainly all have a lot to be grateful for.
So much work to get to this printed stage, glad it can be "fun" with all the signing lol
I haven't watch the video (yet), I just come to say that I read the thumbnail and thought "Huh, so he wrote 8000 books in 8 hours... Yeah, I believe that".
I mean, the video is not about Sanderson writing 8000 books in 8 hours... Right?...
... Right?
And in that time he simultaneously wrote another 200 pages of Skyward 4 with his other hand. What.a. machine!!!
Dawnshard was trash. The author took the least inspiring of all the Stormlight cast and made whole novella out of a Diversity and Inclusion lesson. Unfortunately, I think it's the last book in the series I will read. Sad since the first 2 books are in my all-time top 10. Get woke, go broke.
hopefully no Repetitive strain injury in the long term. Take care @Brandon Sanderson
Book 988! That was me! Thank you for a great convention Dragonsteel!
Honestly, the well oiled machine running here is the mark of a great manager, but also a great leader and just good person. Sure, they're not in here 5 days a week, I think, but it always seems like Brandon can keep morale up for teams supporting him, and that is something that comes from just understanding and believing in what others need.
Really this just feels like a management video game when I've set everyone up correctly and can just watch it profit at 2x speed lol
Brandon: calls 3798
My number: 3978
🥺
9:26
For some reason I had thoroughly convinced myself that Adam was blonde, so I was very jarred when a black bearded gentleman spoke with his voice
His muscles have grown muscles from all the writing guys. Don't worry too much. 🤣
I saw the thumbnail and was confused
I thought he was trolling saying he wrote 8000 books in a day 😭😭
Thumbnail made me think that Brandon Sanderson have mastered his writing speed even further...
A pre order of the hardcover signed books along with the shipping rates to my country amounts up to a lot, but I hope I can buy that sort of book someday. I would probably want the leatherbound ones of the stormlight archives. Does anyone know if the way of kings leatherbound (which will be back in stock again next year ) will be signed or not?
To the lady on the right, your hand looks so painful! I hope it doesn't hurt as much as it looks like it does. If be in my bed crying, so I'm super impressed.
Adam has a strong beard game. Did not expect that. My visualization of him was, as they also tend to be, very wrong.
Surprised your arm even works after all of that! Seriously, Sharpie owes you an advertising fee!
"How many prizes?
"Uh, sure".
😆
Brandon... next time tape 2 pens to either end of a ruler... you'll be done in half the time...
Amazing! I have signed UK version from Waterstones, when did he sign those?
Arm was probably sore after this. Or just straight numb.
Too bad thought he was going to write 8000 books in 8 hours. If anyone could do it, it would be Sanderson
That's less than 3 seconds per book...jeez.
22:35 thats mineeee :D Thanks brandon the book was great love the story !
What's crazy is he does this on top of all the actual writing he does.
I thought the title meant he wrote that many. And my first thought was… sure that’s def possible.
