Morrowind was the first game I played after "The Sims", in 2002. That was 22 years ago. I was an adult at the time, working as a Registered Nurse. I am now almost 70 years old and looking so forward to this wonderful experience. I still believe that "The Sims" could move to Morrowind and become awesome.

If there willing to do the DLCs I'm more than happy to play it even if I have to wait awhile or get off my ass to help out. Already looking into nav meshing, start off with something easy. Same goes for Skyblivion. I would absolutely love to see Shivering Isles remake done right.
I know you guys are all volunteers but it does makes me wonder what you folks could do if you were able to do this full time. The incredible work that's been achieved so far way outstrips what big studios do imo. And by full time I mean flexible like it is now without the time pressure but don't have to worry about another full time job and whatnot.

It is emphatically not in development hell. The simple fact is that unless you have people working on a gigantic project like this as an actual full-time job, it’s going to take much longer than a professionally-made game backed up by millions in funding.
We really are getting there, and the progress since 2019 has been immense. We’ve finished a heck of a lot of content and are getting into the final stages of a lot of other stuff. Believe me, we want this to be released more than anyone else; I’ve personally recorded over a thousand lines and done a ton of writing and editing - I didn’t do it all for it never to see the light of day!

What i think is very impressive about skywind and also Skyblivion is that the attention to detail all of you people put into it is so good that it does not feel like Skyrim at all.
Meaning: I think you achieved that very difficult level of detail and vibe of the world that it creates a solid illusion that you are ''back'' into Morrowind or Oblivion/cyrodiil again, instead if ''Oh yea i'm playing skyrim again but its made to look like Morrowind'. I'm not sure how Skywind actually play's or feels compared to skyrim but i think its very important it should feel ''different'' enough. So more modern yet different enough to have its own identity seperate from Skyrim.
Its things like having to look at a street sign to know where you go. The game not holding your hand. Using boats and Silt striders to fast travel. That ''purist mode'' for example sounds awesome.
And holy crap it looks so pretty. Perhaps one thing to be carefull with is the draw-distance of everything. Morrowind had this thick fog to hide the limitations of the engine and pc compute power back then but if you create the same exact lay-out of morrowind in skyrim but max draw distance this could give problems like that GTA sand andreas remaster Rockstar made. Removing the fog from that game made the world look extremely small and ''wrong'' when you would fly in a plane or stand high up in a mountain. Something simple as fog can make the game feel much bigger or smaller. At the same time at 18:06 in this video its just great to walk in this mushroom forest and then in the distance you see these weird towers making you curious and wanting to explore it. Wich in Morrowind you would not even be able to see.
Anyway i'm just rambling now, you guys are awesome!

7:35 hey, same as me! I was around 9 when I first played, and I didn't speak English.

In the stream, you said the main problem why paralysis is so strong is the long get-up animation, but wouldn't it be possible to not let the player character or NPCs fall on the floor and just let them stand on their feet, just paralysed in the frame of their animations, e.g. a swing with a sword or a bite from a Kagouti? Sounds like that would make paralysis more balanced and would allow for better timing inputs to determine effect length for final balancing. The animation you started could even be finished when the effect wears of or something like this. Anyways, keep up the good work, I'm looking forward to more of your amazing project. :)

I just read up on belts rings and amulets in Morrowind, and saw that by default belts and rings were invisible on the characters in the original Morrowind despite being visible on the ground if you drop them from your inventory.
Rings could be visible if you are not wearing gloves or gauntlets and could even be visible if you are only wearing bracers.
Belts could be made visible if you are not wearing pants or greaves or a robe :P
Clothing worn over them could hide their appearance, but it would be so cool to see rings and belts if nothing else clips into them :D

This is simply amazing, very looking forward to playing this. Words cannot express how much i appreciate all of your hard work and dedication to this project. Morrowind was mu first ES game. And i still go back and play it to this day. How alien the world was, how you had to actually get involed and talk to everyone to find out where you were, where you were going. How in depth the character customization was. The music and the story. Ive always said the key to a great game is the story. To draw you in, make you discover everything about this world and the characters and their backstories. Morrowind was just SO differnt from anything i had played at that time. And still is to this day. Go anywhere, do anything, and how deadly it was outside towns. The magic tree, and how you had to play through multiple times to join each house.
Thank you for these sneak peeks!

My criticisms of Vivec is he seems less blue than usual (that might just be the lighting though), and his jaw seems a bit more square? Other than that he looks cool.

Question - will there be any interaction with unmoveable environment, for example, wounds from some cactus or bonfire? That was quite unrealistic in Skyrim to stand in the fire unharmed. Is there a possibility to recreate this in Skywind (at least, by tying it to respective locations of obects)?

Why do I remember being set on fire when standing on a fireplace in skyrim

@@martiananomaly- If I remember correctly the effect was just very inconsistent but fires could burn you.
I know that standing in forges did definitely burn your character.

@@K_1_T_S_U_N_E Yeah that checks out lol because I also remember not being burned by fire sometimes.

Skywind, Skyblivion, Fallout: London, Fallout4: New Vegas....
The next few years of gaming will be so good, they'll offset the last half-decade+/- of trash.

7:39 - That's right. This is not a game about saving the princess. This is a game about serving princes.

I wasn't really interested in this project since I think Morrowind is very playable today ! Especially since OpenMW released. However watching this I can see how much attention and work was put into this and I am excited to play it ! Some things that I would love to see in this. Original inventory was great! Best mouse and keyboard interface in my opinion. Please bring back the spellmaker. Making your own spells made playing a mage in this game very rewarding ! Also would be great to not have fast travel as I think it would ruin the game as many quests and encounters are found while on your way to different cities.

Unfortunately, UI changes are unlikely just because they're kind of a monster to deal with, I'm told.
BUT! We do have spell-making: ruclips.net/video/yVBAfgmE1F8/видео.html
And fast travel will be turned off in the release, at one point we discuss the "purist mode" that removes things like fast travel, compass, etc. that will be turned on by default, and as such the game is being made with no-fast-travel in mind.

I could never get into Morrowind, Oblivion was in fact my first TES game. I cite the clunky animation and character control but I've watched playthroughs that make me want to play it then when I do I just struggle. So I am really looking forward to Skywind so I can finally soak it in on the new engine.

Fantastic, brilliant, gorgeous!! 🥰 Thanks for taking us on a walk - a sprint? - through Vvardenfell again and thanks for showing so much stuff off! Can't wait to get my grabby hands on those armor sets and weapons!! AND OH MY, the Crescent looks just incredible. And we got the Boots!! Now we can walk into danger blindly as Tribunal intended 😌😌😜
Speaking of which - I am usually not that hostile towards Vivec, but now I fear I shall have to slaughter him just to get his garb 😏😁😁
(Please, please tell me Dagoth's mask will be lootable. That was such a disappointment in the original game, haha! 😅)
Excellent work as always, love it!!!!❤ And thanks to everyone who donated!!
