Thank you for this topic! As a Muslim, I'd like to share that Islam does not explicitly prohibit tobacco, but it does forbid anything that impairs the mind. This is why I believe alcohol and drugs are prohibited, as they alter one's consciousness. However, it's important not to overindulge in smoking tobacco; it should be for enjoyment, and I don't think we can truly enjoy it if it's overdone. Personally, I reward myself by smoking a pipe at the end of each week, and I truly enjoy it after a week-long break.
That is a good point! Can you truly enjoy something that you do multiple times a day, every day? If you eat your favourite food every day, is it still enjoyable?

Brother Wentzel. Excellent message. I couldn’t agree more. Therefore, it falls in the realm of peoples opinion, or like you said what is a sin to some. Very good video. I enjoyed that greatly!
Body's the temple. Theres a few verses on that and thats why I don't smoke after 23 yrs of being a smoker. I destroyed my temple with alcohol, cigarettes, weed, pills, porn but I wanted to make it right and repair what I messed up. It has been the best experience I never knew could happen. Nice video tonight Mr Wentzel. And that was a heck of a good prayer. O heck I’ve heard some of the ole fire an brimstone preachers kick on about everything. and also if I quit drinkin ale8 they’ll be a small layoff over in Winchester lol..
That's right. Jesus said "It's not what goes in a mans mouth that defiles him, it's what comes out of it." You don't have to eat meat, drink wine or smoke tobacco to have defiling words come forth from the mouth.
The potential for sin exists in any human behavior. Potential being the key word. There are certain behaviors which are sinful regardless of how we approach them, but smoking pipe tobacco is not one of those behaviors. It could be abused, and therefore lead to sin, but it is not inherently sinful. It depends entirely upon our intention and the level of discipline the user possesses in maintaining that right intention in the face of their disordered passions. Should we just say that it is a sin and be done with it? No. Should we just say it is not a sin and be done with it? Again, no. We must, as Christian men, stay vigilant and examine ourselves regularly so that we can identify where we have fallen short and correct ourselves as soon as possible. God bless you all.
That verse in James, 4:17, the "good" it is referring to is how we treat one another and has nothing to do with tobacco. I agree with you on your stance about tobacco, the bible does not mention it. Paul does say that we should not be under the control of anything, 1 Cor 6:12. That would include even eating or coffee or anything that we let take control of us. If tobacco is used in moderation and not as a habit, there is nothing wrong with it. Some will use the last few verses of that same chapter to say that anything harmful to the body is sinful and tobacco is harmful to the body. My argument is, first off, the context is sexual immorality, second, if anything harmful to the body is sinful then it's a sin to use roundup, chemical cleaners, sit around a campfire, eat sugar if you're diabetic, mow a dusty field without a proper mask, etc. See where this goes? If you make that claim, then you have to stop a lot of things that would fall into that category of "being harmful to the body". We don't have the right to bind what God has NOT bound nor loose what God has NOT loosed!
The use of tobacco, in and of itself, and for the intended purpose that God has blessed us with, is by no means sinful. Now, supposing a feller filled a up a 5 lb. bag with pipe tobacco and proceeded to bludgeon someone to death with mighty blows about the head, face, neck, and/or other vulnerable areas with said bag of tobacco, then I suppose that categorical use of tobacco woud, in fact, be sinful. The original question, if answered in the affirmative, is one that wreaks of legalism and abject distortion of biblical intent. Now that, friends, is a sin. Keep up the good work Mr. Wentzel. Enjoying the content !
Great video my friend. I dont think tobacco is wrong in itself, depends on how we use it. Alcohol isn't wrong, Jesus used wine, but we can't drink ourselves drunk. So alcohol isn't wrong in itself, but when we abuse it then it's wrong, I think it's the same with tobacco
I do talk about cigarettes being unwise because of their addictiveness and causing lung cancer, but I also don't think that's worse than eating so much garbage food that you get heart disease.
That preacher that went to spurgeons church and railed about the evils of tobacco .. just so happened to be an American, caught up in the temperance movement. Imagine that
Nice chat and prayer, anything in excess can be sinful. But put everything in perspective and nothing before God. God made everything for our use and to be enjoyed, but it’s got to be done in order. Just don’t be a stumbling block for someone else….. Thanks for sharing.
no not sinful hey look at it this way me being native American we believe when you smoke , that the smoke is carried with your thoughts an prayers it connects you to god or the great spirit as we say it
No, I don't believe so. Know there has been many a time I've sat by myself with my pipe and thanked our Creater above for all the wonders in this world.
in unto itself? no. i feel it is another gift from god that has always had some form of use (both spiritual and/or medicinal depending upon application) to mankind. the bible never directly forbade it, but it did repeatedly caution moderation in all things. sometimes, having the occasioinal pipe of tobacco can be a prayer unto the lord depending on where your mind is at in the moment. Your prayers drifting upwards with the smoke, like the biblical incense of old they burned in the temple of jerusalem as an offering unto god. It can be a spiritual part of our lives...in moderation. That being said, my personal opinion (take it with a huge grain of salt and a ten penny nail)...smoking cigaretts...absolutley a sin, for it removes the ability over time for self moderation, and exchanges it for deep addiction. Alcohol in unto itself is not a sin, but it can become one, when a person exceeds moderation in persuit of excessive pleasure or self defeating medication. All things can become a sin, if taken to excessive extremes. just my two pence...
Wentzel, the way I see it, GOD told Adam and Eve that they could eat of any of the trees in Eden except for one (The Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil) and HE gave Man dominion over the animals and plants on the Earth. So, I see tobacco as a gift or blessing from GOD and should be smoked to the glory of GOD. However, once you love smoking tobacco more than you love GOD, well, that is a sin and you should then quit.
@@Wentz789 To play devils advocate...One could say that excess eating and drinking harms the temple of god also. Where do we draw the line or is moderation the key?
Tobacco is not sinful. Nothing indicates that it is in the Bible. You need to believe that Jesus is the Christ, that he died for your sins and was risen on the third day. If you trust in Jesus only to take away your sins and save you, then you are saved.
6:51 Anything you put before God is sinful. So if you're spending more time with your pipe than reading your Bible, then that might be sinful. Other than that, I don't think it is. I study on God's word while I'm smoking cigars a lot of the time. If you are having a hard time with it, then you should pray and talk to the Lord about it. Maybe that might help someone. A lot of preachers should stop preaching on condemning people and instead preach on building them up in the Lord!

We must, as Christian men, stay vigilant and examine ourselves regularly so that we can identify where we have fallen short and correct ourselves as soon as possible. God bless you all.

Thanks for the fun comment 🤠

Thank you for your good comment it was very thought out and informative

Nice chat and prayer, anything in excess can be sinful. But put everything in perspective and nothing before God. God made everything for our use and to be enjoyed, but it’s got to be done in order. Just don’t be a stumbling block for someone else…..

@@DTzant
Thanks for watching and commenting. Taking up pipe smoking"might be" the thing to do
in unto itself? no. i feel it is another gift from god that has always had some form of use (both spiritual and/or medicinal depending upon application) to mankind. the bible never directly forbade it, but it did repeatedly caution moderation in all things. sometimes, having the occasioinal pipe of tobacco can be a prayer unto the lord depending on where your mind is at in the moment.

@@Civilwarpiper thanks for watching and commenting. Have a good one
