Benchmade Axis Lock vs Ganzo Axis Lock Endurance test with Batoning
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 26 авг 2024
- Just what the title says. This is unscientific, and should never be attempted. A subscriber asked me... hey did you ever try Batoning with a Benchmade Axis Lock? This was asked when the Ganzo G7392 CF folded in my review while batoning. This video answers the question- do both of them fold up when they're used in a way they were not designed? Again. Don't attempt this. Or whatever.

"at least I wore shoes this time" lol
I just didn't show it, is all.
Verry funny
Hey Those Flip Flops are work safety standards Australian style...subbed
what are you doing here bird
That was fantastic and fuck off auahahahaha
Thank you. That was very interesting to see. I can never justify spending $100 over a well made $20 knife, I just can't help it. I have held benchmades before and Ganzo. Better steel and better craftsmanship do not do it for me. In the end a well constructed low priced knife is as useful as a $200 knife.
+Angel Cortez that's a good point. Other than sharpening a bit more often, that's sort of the big thing.
+Advanced Knife Bro That's true. Even though the tactical bunch are always OCD about their blade being sharp so after one use they sharpen it again, kinda weird ;)
The benchmade 940 is better
Your epic introductory "F*** off" should probably be a standard part of all RUclips disclaimers.
All knife videos need it.
I was hooked into this one at that point.
Insults draw me in for the complex plot line.
Advanced Knife Bro No doubt...RUclips comment sections are so sensitive and folks get so bent out of shape. Glad you let EVERYONE know how much you don’t care what they say, think, or do!!!! 👌👍
You are a funny dude. Thanks for getting out and doing videos brother
Thanks man!
mhhhm Flashlight batoning
+kilasracingfactory just wait!
Olight Baton?
ahahah, LITTERALLY!!!!
kilasracingfactory ah yes. Still waiting for one
"F**k off. At least I'm wearing shoes this time." YA KILL ME! Thanks for the shout out on the Cima video, and you're right....it is my fault! 🇬🇧
Gotta give credit where credit is due!
I cried, then laughed, then cried again.
Perhaps an unbalance of my meds, or the extreme sweet and yet sour nature of this film.
Still, this hipster gets a thumbs-up.
A review that gives you a chuckle is way more memorable and entertaining. These are some of the best.
Glad you liked it more than the guy who thinks I'm a fucktard.... somewhere in the comments!
you had me at "fuck off". I'm definitely subbing to watch you hack some other shit up when I'm bored.
+Scott Fennell oh I got antics! I'd like to do a few other videos like this where I whack the knives and see if the locks fold. Actually 90% of them do.
If you file down the tang slightly so the lock engages more solidly the knife won't fold nearly so often if ever, another thing that helps is taking a rough diamond stone to the end of the tang to give it more friction. I have 3 Ganzo knives that folded just as often as yours do, but after modifying them, I have batoned much tougher wood than that with them.
Thanks for the tip I might have to try this. Although, I do have much more suitable batoning knives.
Apparently the bugout axis lock is titanium instead of steel. Along with a couple other pieces that are normally steel. Could be why the knife is priced higher then what most people want it to be.
Your humor is killing me, keep up the great videos
+linebacker Thanks!
If you really have to baton with a folder I've heard it said that it's best to do it with the lock disengaged so as not to damage it (the lock). Great vid though, love your humour. (Humour with 'our' at the end because I'm British).
The real trick is just to not baton with a folder, I think. Thanks!
"Fuck off, because at least I'm wearing shoes this time." :'D
Yeah sandals and knife play probably aren't good companions.
I read "scandals and knife play" :D
Didn't even make it 2 min into the video and you have me laughing my ass off! I love the humor. Good stuff!
Thanks man!
The way you chop off those bamboos😭😂
A person who doesn't deny the fact he's a stupid shit and does funny reviews on knives and what not, is worth subscribing to. Keep the video reviews coming in bruh.
+Ridhwan Sudin I'll be the first to tell you I'm a stupid shit.
Love the video. Laughed my ass off through the whole thing, specially the at least I wore shoes bit. I'm a subscriber now. Look forward to more easy going, laid back knife videos with some good humor. Thanks bro.
You are my favourite reviewer on YT. Hands down the most entertaining.
+riktiktav Thanks man! Got a new Benchmade review coming soon!
"because,, well its youtube,,," "fck off because at least im wearing shoes this time " hhahahhaha subscribed and havent even watched
hahahhaha "leave a comment on what a stupid sht i am " omg heres your like and your comment bro. =) thanks and keep em up
Thanks man!
I got more a coming!
"Fuck off because at least I'm wearing shoes this time" and that my friends is how you get a sub.
I did notice that neither knife failed when you batonned the back of your hand. Maybe you're onto something there.
Hey now, I didn't hit the back of my hand. .... This time!
that's my kind of test! those are exactly the kinds of things I do with my knives, which is why I buy cheap ones. great stuff and keep'em coming! Ohhhh and thanks for a few laughs too
+Dezi Johnson mine too! Thanks!
Love your vids, man . I can't wait to see you baton with flashlight. 😅😅😅
Ha ha!
Lol best no bullshit and fucks given intro.
None man. None. Thanks!
Great video my friend. I have this same Ganzo and many others. They are very good for the money. I enjoy your video style. Keep em coming
Thanks!
Man keep up the great videos and thanks for keeping it real !!!
Thanks dude!
Good review! You display a lot of Toeism which is cool, can't wait for the review of the Manker u21...
No Manker in my future. A lot of people are doing those... an I have had so many lights to do this year, I'll leave those to the other bros. I'm working on 7 reviews right now... and got another 2 coming in the mail. Jeeze. Thanks!
+Advanced Knife Bro you got it going on good right now! Keep the videos rolling, your one of the best so far I've seen!
So you are hilarious and I vow to watch every single video on your channel because for some reason I'm into knives and flashlights right now.
Hopefully you're not mareied yet and can find a wife that will accept your new addiction if you're already married well I'm sorry in advance for the impending divorce when she sees how much you've spent on a knife or flashlight lol.
Yup, Ganzo over benchmade every day for me. If they break, just order a box more of 'em. Excellent beater knives.
I'm actually waiting for Ganzo to do an "original design" Medford. They should call it the G187F. Obviously with an axis lock :)
Axis lock on everything!
Axis lock on mah Evolution DOOR!
/watch?v=umfvm8I9_oU
:D
That's a sweet door!
I so want one (or ten) Would be pretty easy to diy though.
devjock I just hate supporting a Chinese company that copies American designs and can compete due to cheap labor.
BRAVO!!!!!!!!’
OK - Here is what is AWESOME about your videos:
Stupid or not - lame or not - useless or not - shit no one would ever do with these knives or not - You are
NOT wasting anybody’s time!!!
You speak and move quickly!
I have yet to hear any “dramatic pauses” which are really just people figuring out what they’re going to talk about next cause they can’t remember whether or not they already talked about it. Plus when they started they had no idea what they were GOING to talk about.
You don’t deliver “clever” quips to passers by or say a few words to non existent friends who may or may not be watching your video.
You DON’T loudly smack your wet lips between sentences which nobody realizes is picked up clear as day with the advanced sound on today’s video cameras.
You DON’T take long pauses while you casually cough up a lung or two - certain that your viewers feel closer to you having been privy to such a personal bodily function.
(I’m just waiting for the day that some moron is SO taken by himself that he actually pauses to fart loud enough to wake the neighbors and then continue as if he’s the coolest thing since sliced bread.
You take care of your business. Share the things you want to share about whatever you’re working with for those 10 minutes and you MOVE ON!
Add to that - that along the way you demonstrate and prove some very valuable pieces of information -
and what else is there to say except
BRAVO and THANK YOU!!!
Carry on sir
Definitely my favourite review channel. The machete looked awesome. Please some details about it? I want one.
Bud K Kukri. I did a video on it
@@AdvancedKnifeBro Ok! Thank you so much! Gonna check it out now. Forgive my ignorance.
Can't wait for the flashlight batoning. Any brand ending in "fire" should work nicely...
Startfire.
Ive got a Ganzo 720. Im gonna do this with it, Actually Im going to do a one stick fire with it coz thats more "Bushcraft" and "RUclips" and im not gonna wear shoes. great video, i love um :-)
Sounds like you get RUclips bushcraft then!
Hysterical, laughed my ass off the whole video. New sub here.
+Garry Oldham I promise to only disappoint you some of the time.
You should have had a beer.
try a cold steel tri ad lock folder :)
Cool, I'll check one out.
you had me at f*** off, at least I wore shoes...
Great stuff. All the book worms who have not been in the bush, will contend folders are not made for this or for that. Well, if a folder is all you have, and your ass in on the line, it better work successfully or you are done for. So it is good to know that these folders will baton if need be, specially if that is the only knife you have. I like the fact that your folders, just like mine, are not display case queens. a knife is a tool, sometimes you have to use a tool that is not quite right because that is all you have, and if it breaks so be it. That is why I like Ganzos. If I break them, I just go get another. I can't afford the Benchmades, so I'll never break one.
If your ass is in the line you'd take that two inch diameter branch and smack it on a rock. If a neatly split two inch diameter branch is essential to your survival you'd disengage the lock first and just baton with the blade.
+mikedifeo whatever works man. Both knives held up well. Yeah... I don't treat my stuff like shelf or safe queens. I like using them, like they were or weren't intended.
I agree. That is exactly what I would do. I would not worry about my knife at that time. Useless to have un scratched knife and you are dead, LOL..........
If you have one folding knife in an emergency and you decide to use it to baton then you're well on the way to get naturally selected for elimination.
There are several ways to achieve the same result with far less energy, risk and time. I don't know how batoning became a must have in the bushcraft world, it has uses of course but it's not nearly as important as some people make it out to be.
I hope I make it clear enough, that batoning on my channel is for entertainment only.
Great video
Better entertainment then tv..
Think so too,Henk! :-)
+stephan123321 Thanks!
and no thanks to Milea and me?? That's cruel..
So, as an analogy, if both knives were airplanes, one would sink faster to the bottom than the other, if used as boats?
+Jameson Cross exactly!
LOL! Loved it! What do you think of the Budk kuk?
I love it man. I've had it for several years now and it's taken a beating. I bought this an and Eswing campers axe about the same time and I use this more- for the same type tasks. It's caught many a nail, and hidden fence posts- but I file them out and keep on going. $20 was a steal.
maby try a spoon/flashlight combo next time!
Noted! Thanks!
That was awesome. You just made my day homey.
+marshalllaw123 Thanks! Just came up with this one today!
Got it. I'm buying a 3 inch folder so I can split knotty wood barefoot. Thank for the advice.
I do what I can
If you have to spend less than 100$ fpr a folder, the axis lock on the Ganzos is IMHO the most comfortable lock to use.
That Budk kukri was hair popping sharp as it went through that bamboo with surgical precision.
I love the BudK. My favorite chopper. Plus it was $25.
***** I use an ex gurkha khukuri house one. I think it was around $100 and weighs as much as an elephant. I also have a shitty Gerber one.
Any play in either knife afterwards?
+wojtekimbier nope... Not this time on the two here. But there was in the carbon fiber after the bamboo batoning in the lastvreview. Just did a slight turn on the pivot screw.
Hey MH, what happened I watch this video to the end but you didn't really mention the differences between the 2 axis locks. due to this. I'm now dealing with mental anguish cold sweat and anxiety issues.
I feel the same way! Benchmade is less stiff and slightly more reliable. Boom, there you go!
***** Youre Unique man, its a beautiful thing when folks cant copy your style. if they tried the jokes wouldnt fly either.
What is your opinion on the Axis style cross bar locks?
beAUTIFULL VID BRO KEEP GOING!!!!
the internet gave a name to hitting a knife with a stick
Did you disengage the lock before batoning after your 6th Guinness?
Believe it or not, I hadn't had anything to drink!
Liar!
Vininull has some of the best torture test videos sadly it looks like he has moved away from that genre. I would like to see similar tests come back with a Google docs spreadsheet like the one he had going that allowed him to give detailed rankings for each specific test.
I enjoyed this video more than Blade HQ oohing over some expensive ass knife in a studio.
love the honesty lol funny video, too many RUclips knife reviewers are snobby elitist
I am not a knife elitist. I own plenty of chbeap and expensive knives, and can find room in my heart for both.
soooo- whats the verdict ?
Guilty.
Can you do zero tolerance vs eafengrow?
+1984keen I’ll look into it
lol .. i know this is 6 years later ..... but did you ever make a video where you batton with a flashlight???
that would be hilarious.
you're the best man!
of who's wedding?
Your voice sounds like the guy from H3H3. Thanks for the review.
There is no easy way out. If you want a strong lock you gonna have to deal with stiffness of the Tri-Ad lock.
+PowerMadHeadBanger One of these days I'll try one out. The arc lock on my SOG is pretty strong and not that stuff.
KnifeCenter has the old 4 inch Voyager on sale: www.knifecenter.com/item/CS29TLCH/cold-steel-29tlch-large-voyager-4-stonewash-combo-clip-point-blade-grivory-handles
theres no easy way out theres no shortcut home theres no easy way out , giving in , giving in cant be wrong . if you want to deal with an awesome 80s movie you need the greatness that is Rocky 4
Benchmade axis lock is steofner
NO EYE PROTECTION, NO GLOVES, AN ACCIDENT WAITING TO HAPPEN ... BUT GOOD VIDEO
WELCOME TO THE ADVANCED KNIFE BRO CHANNEL
I've used a 3C Maglite for a hammer, I say go for it!
Now we're talking!
I just bought the Ganzo g739 and as I lost a griptillian once camping, I’ll take this one with me instead. If I loose it I’m out 18 bucks.
Very nice
I have the Barrage 580 and the North Fork. I've beat on the Barrage for over eight years. I log and mechanic for a living so my knife catches hell. So far, so good. The 580 has a few chips in the handle from beating on it and the blade has some wear from sharpening but it just keeps on going. Quit beating on folders, you stupid shit. Lol
Just discovered your videos and I love em. Lol
You can bâton all day long with the Coldsteel AD10
I'm just glad we don't have to call you "lefty." P.S. Nice knees btw. Although I've seen better :-)
+Eddie King they're a buffet for the skeeters!
2:14 smooth
I dunno why people think Chinese knives such as Ganzo are bad when they're actually quite good solid knives. They are by no means the best in the market but within the price range I think they bring A LOT to the table.
how do you think these 2 knives would perform at batoning a Bonless pork loin? (purchased on sale at Meijer's for $1.38 a pound)
+God of Thunder (UKKONEN) definitely the Benchm- whoa hey $1.38 thanks for the heads up!
I would think the pocket Bushman is probably the only folding knife that would be okay for batoning
Would you please test Snap-on screw drivers against other less quality screw drivers , maybe by shooting them out of a shotgun into a brick wall ?
+Guy Noir great idea! Then I'll run over them with a tire!
Good and amusing video! But you might want to wear protective gloves like in the cold steel videos.
My 940 has never failed at batoning. The lock never dailed
I've batoned lightly with 940's and never had a problem.
Dont batton with folding knives....... unless it's a cold steel tri ad lock 😂😂😂
honestly... I want to see this flashlight batoning video...
thats one goofy son of a bitch right there.
I try!
Thanks :)
Fuck off, at least I wore shoes this time. ❤️
+Ethan Blake just being honest!
As an advanced knife bro, is it your studied opinion that either the Benchmade or the Ganzo would be appropriate for skinning rattlesnakes? i.e. batoning reptiles?
Sidewinders? Diamondbacks? Or those ones you get at the gas stations for your kids.
+Advanced Knife Bro How did you know I got my kids at a gas station? I'm talking about the Godzilla Pit Vipers from near the Gulf of Mexico, in Florida. You think the AXIS lock would hold, if I wanted to baton one of those beasts?
Definitely just get real close while you do it.
Interesting, Thanks Knife Bro
I'll take that!
Lol, you won me over with that one bro. I sub'd.
Thanks man!
thx
Lol u hit your hand at least once lol hope it didn’t hurt to much u crazy dude
I wasn't aware that Ganzo had designed an axis lock.
+FATshadow They didn't.
***** Yeah, I know. They stole it. So it's a Benchmade Axis Lock vs. Benchmade Axis Lock made with cheap materials by workers with no rights to safety or adequate pay.
FATshadow thanks for your input
As if you didn't own another 300 household items made in china by workers with no rights to safety or adequate pay.
Out of box . I fine tune the ganzo . It works perfect . And doesnt have the butterfly price !!!
I'll sell you one for $100!
Flashlight baton-ing please 😄
2:13 Nice knife throw.
Thanks!
This is great that you tested these knives. But, that's not how you test a locking mechanism's strength or durability. You'd essentially have to ruin them to actually test their true capabilities.
+NotAnUndercoverCop ok so... whacking the knife on the back isn't a good test to see how often the lock disengages. Got it. Gotta love the internet.
lol I enjoyed this video way too much
I love your fuck off attitude . Lol
Thanks man!
hahaha I fucking love these videos man
Fucking A man... thanks for commenting!
My Griptilian is excellent at making toothpicks from twigs.
+ogenmatic why bring a pack, when you can make you're own!
BTW, just to let you know...you were making me pretty nervous watching you baton those folders. You should really throw on a pair of leather gloves next time just in case the lock fails as you blast through a piece of wood so the blade doesn't snap shut on your fingers with no protection.
loosen your butthole mayne, this video is pure greatness. The lack of gloves adds to it, keep up the good work Advanced Knife Bro
Oh yeah, screw safety! Seriously dude?!
Listen Safety Officer Dan, I'm a tactical beefcake...I think I know what I am talking about. Seatbelts are death traps, not restraints. Apples are bongs, not fruit. And gloves... there are things about gloves you dont want to know Dan Jr. NEVER. wear. gloves.
Lmfao!
I still like ganzo knives and i Iike benchmade knives too...ganzo got good quality its just that it's brand name and reputation got ruined because of imitating other knife designs, despite of the brand's image and reputation got ugly I still like it because it's cheap yet its a tough piece and good for edc
"Stupid as shit" loved it dude
Thanks man!
