Wenger legacy for me is very ambiguous because his real rise and fall coincides with David Dein, as soon as Dein was gone Wenger struggled so was Dein really the one who should be praised not Wenger? I also wonder why no one has criticized the lack of world class Arsenal youth products given how long Wenger was there and the fact that Arsenal are in London and have an enormous catchment of youth, also when the new crop of young French stars was coming through why wasn’t he in on the ground floor? I'd really love to see that Arsenal Squad and the Set of Players that they were linked too, if they had those players then it would've been anothet Invincible Team, but unfortunately none of that happened.
Eavy Eavy it wasn’t a release clause. Look up the interview from the then-head of transfers of arsenal in 2019. The guy that was involved in the deal literally says that it wasn’t a release clause and that suarez was actually stupid for letting such a pointless clause be integrated in his contract.
Liverpool - "We will negotiate with any team that bids over 40m." Arsenal - Bids over 40m Liverpool - Doesn't negotiate, breaks their own contract, "What are they smoking?"
I'm sure Law was just bullshitting Real with the squad player comment, but why didn't they pay the fee for an amazing finisher if they were prepared to pay a similar price for Suarez? Yes, Suarez was the better player, but buyers tend to pay a bit more than what a player's worth.
@@k.more1995 prem proven is such a nothing term. If it was as important as fans like you believed, there would less foreign players and managers in the premier league.
There was nothing wrong with bidding £40M+1 for Suarez. If his release clause was £40M wouldn't the same people be mocking us for wasting money if we'd offered £45M or £50M? It just turns out that release clauses aren't worth the paper they're printed on
I won’t believe a player has signed until I see him on the pitch with the manager holding up the shirt. And seeing him sign a contract with the manager in front of the media.
My heart bleeds for Arsenal.....Imagine supporting a club which has nearly gone out of business or are that lowest point in their existence. Everyone is linked with players over the years. Look at my team Sunderland linked with Luis Suarez before he signed for Liverpool. Van nistolroy was going to sign under Reidy but injuries and timing stopped that happening. Even back in the 80s Argentinian newspaper were saying that Maradona was wanting to sign for sunderland. We ended up with Marangoni who after leaving us went on too win the coppa libertadores
I always questioned why tf the club did not buy in higuain in 2013, turns out it was gross incompetence from a clown who had probably never kicked a ball in his life. Hazard was also keen on coming here before lille won a league title, the less anyone talks about that, the better.
As much as Arsenal transfer business was frustrating under the previous regime its important to remain logical. It’s clear that all of the negotiations were handled by Law but people prefer the narrative that Wenger was responsible for everything and we didn’t sign players because of him. Also with the exception of Suarez and Higuain every player mentioned flopped with their next move. People are obsessed with transfers and the buzz around them and would love 5 players per window but that’s not what went wrong at Arsenal. balf1111117373 I don’t think he made a bid we where interested but I don’t think he wanted to leave at the time
Vardy proved himself right Leicester are a bigger club than arsenal now
Chicken Oriental Arsenal will forever be a bigger club than leicester - form is temporary, class is permanent.
@@hanklesacks which arsenal have no class right now

John W Henry after Arsenal's 40 million and 1 pound. "What do you think they're smoking over there at Emirates?"
Proper release clause, not cheatingpool not fulfilling the it.
@@eavyeavy2864 the video clarifies that there wasn't a release clause
Liverpool - "We will negotiate with any team that bids over 40m."
Arsenal - Bids over 40m
Liverpool - Doesn't negotiate, breaks their own contract, "What are they smoking?"
@@url7292 they rejected Arsenal's bid, end of story. Arsenal could've made higher bid, which Rodgers had gone on to say could've possibly accepted.
I watch every single video on this channel and Tifo originals are a million times better than Athletic pieces.
I'm sure Law was just bullshitting Real with the squad player comment, but why didn't they pay the fee for an amazing finisher if they were prepared to pay a similar price for Suarez? Yes, Suarez was the better player, but buyers tend to pay a bit more than what a player's worth.
You're responding yourself, Suárez was not just a better player but a prem proven
@@k.more1995 prem proven is such a nothing term. If it was as important as fans like you believed, there would less foreign players and managers in the premier league.
@@Agee1 I agree with you, but the clubs in the premier league believe in that so much, anyway Suárez was better than Higuaín ever was
The recent Conte and Leece relationship athletic article would be a great video.
There was nothing wrong with bidding £40M+1 for Suarez.
If his release clause was £40M wouldn't the same people be mocking us for wasting money if we'd offered £45M or £50M? It just turns out that release clauses aren't worth the paper they're printed on
apart from suarez really, its several bullets dodged by arsenal- better off without them

Higuain was at his peak years. Consistently getting past 20 goals a season of Napoli and Juventus.
@@Agee1 It's a different league. Not sure if he's got the pace, but I could be wrong.
kiriakoz you are wrong. If a 35 year old Zlatan could do it, a 26 year old elite striker definitely could.
who's here after vlahovic declined arsenal and joined Juventus?
Arsenal has history of failures...we could have got some good players....makes me cry thinking about it.
Wolves fan, your channel is great, please do a video on Mendez and Wolves...
I won’t believe a player has signed until I see him on the pitch with the manager holding up the shirt. And seeing him sign a contract with the manager in front of the media.
Might just lose out on Bissouma to Spurs XD
My heart bleeds for Arsenal.....Imagine supporting a club which has nearly gone out of business or are that lowest point in their existence.
Everyone is linked with players over the years. Look at my team Sunderland linked with Luis Suarez before he signed for Liverpool. Van nistolroy was going to sign under Reidy but injuries and timing stopped that happening. Even back in the 80s Argentinian newspaper were saying that Maradona was wanting to sign for sunderland. We ended up with Marangoni who after leaving us went on too win the coppa libertadores
Why was there a violin version of the jingle that puts a baby to sleep in a cradle at the introduction?
Arsene Wenger first appeared on The Athletic before he became a coach
It's hard to call Wenger a shrewd operator when you find out just how much he threw away even at relatively low prices.
He didnt have the power of hindsight
I always questioned why tf the club did not buy in higuain in 2013, turns out it was gross incompetence from a clown who had probably never kicked a ball in his life. Hazard was also keen on coming here before lille won a league title, the less anyone talks about that, the better.
Damn you Tifo, I almost forget about all of these until I watch the video
Truly amazing channel
As much as Arsenal transfer business was frustrating under the previous regime its important to remain logical. It’s clear that all of the negotiations were handled by Law but people prefer the narrative that Wenger was responsible for everything and we didn’t sign players because of him. Also with the exception of Suarez and Higuain every player mentioned flopped with their next move. People are obsessed with transfers and the buzz around them and would love 5 players per window but that’s not what went wrong at Arsenal. Wenger just eventually wasn’t a good enough coach anymore in the era of new young managers and football ideas!
Arsene's classic quote "I almost signed this guy" is now more sad than funny.
Can y’all do a video on the Leeds United head coaches philosophy of “plays”?
