    A couple corrections:
    The gym is not an overly important thing once you get to Rookie stage. Your stats grow far more efficiently killing other digimon that are strong enough to give you stats. The gym is only really helpful for In training/baby digimon, and later in the game at ultimate/mega where stat gains from other digimon falls off to almost nothing.
    You can unlock the options to chose your digivolution route after you finish the first stage. Not too difficult to do so before your first generation of digimon ends.
    I absolutely love this game though. I was obsessed with Digimon World 1 when i was a kid. Put thousands of hours into that game. The lack of reliance on the gym was actually a pretty big surprise to me because of that. The Gym was make or break in DW1. This game you only really need to hit the gym for a couple cycles until your digimon hit rookie stage, then head out and beat things up. Faster stat gains that way by a long shot, you can get hundreds of stats in the same in game time as it would take to get 70 or so stats in the gym.
    When i learned this game was being ported, i couldn't wait for it. Grabbed it immediately, and put a good chunk of time into it so far. For sure the first hour or two of the game is pretty slow. But it's designed that way. you're starting from nothing and it's your job to put the city together. As you get more and more people to the city, the game opens up dramatically.
    For anyone coming from Digimon World 1, and looking to pick this up for that style of game play, this is 100% recommended. It has everything DW1 had but with all those ease of access features we wish we had back then. You can slowly unlock evolution conditions in the game. you're not hard punished for not spending an hour (real time) in the gym every time your partner dies just so you can spend a couple of days of in game time actually exploring without getting smashed by everything. Your digimon don't forget moves when they die!
    My only real gripe with the game is that they actually dumbed it down big time compared to DW1. DW1 is a far more difficult game. It's not even a comparison.
    With tamer skills, your digimon can revive with a massive amount of stats as you get a couple generations in. My "In Training" Digimon are actually stronger than my first generation of Ultimates were stat wise. I'm only in my 4th generation.
    If you look around for other reviews, almost everyone is going to say this game is ridiculously hard and throws you in the deep end. If you are coming from DW1, this game is easy mode.
    Played on "Easy" difficulty cause reviews said that normal mode is brutal as hell. Probably a good idea for a first run through until you figure out the game a bit. But very quickly the game becomes trivial for anyone that actually has beaten DW1. use easy to learn material farming locations, and how to raise your digimon properly. But i'm 100% going to be starting a new game on hard mode before long. It's just too easy on easy mode.
    The biggest thing that stands out for the massive dump in raising your digimon is, it's stupidly easy to get to mega digimon. you're not going to be stuck with Numemon every other cycle because you used that round to farm up materials or whatever. you can easily grow your digimon along side farming materials.
    As an example: Max stats is 9,999 for the normal stats, 99,999 for HP and MP. So 10x what it was in DW1. but evolution requirements weren't increased by 10x.
    You'd think with that, you'd need 4,000+ stats to get to a Mega digimon then. It's not even close. You can get to most megas at around 1,000 stats. Which makes it a lot easier to get out there and explore later, but your mega digimon is ridiculously weak.
    Most Champions only need 2-300 stats, and most ultimated are around 600 or so stats.
    So yeah, they dumbed down the difficulty big time.
    That's my only real gripe with it. It's not anything overly broken, it's actually a good thing to be honest, i just don't like the lack of difficulty overall haha.
    It gets a 9/10 overall for me as a old school DW1 lover. Here's hoping they make another game in the series some day!(i don't count re-digitize as it never released outside japan)

    • @brotbrotsen1100
      @brotbrotsen1100 Год назад +1

      The difficulty actually surprised me, replayed world 1 in preparation on my hacked vita (which is a great way to expirence world 1 tbh) and was stunned that in my first cycle i never got a bad digimon and actually had 2 megas before the City grew, so around the time i had to go to Taomon.
      Also feels like they live way longer, after 20 days my digimon died which gave me quite some time to get tamer rank and build up the city, according to the in game time I'm 18 hours in and just started the second cycle but i guess it's closer to 5 hours since it seems like the in game timer doesn't stop in standby and there is no chance i played 18 hours. Tamer rank is at 16 by now so yeah its way easier.
      Not complaining though the game is awesome and I'm glad it's finally on a system that i own.

      @slandergames9494 Год назад

      Thank you. Very informative. Now my only question is have you played online? And how does online work? Do you recommend switch or pc? That's my biggest concern always. The ease of the switch is very appealing but if performance is very lacking in switch or if online mode is a pretty important part of the game experience I'd go pc

    • @brotbrotsen1100
      @brotbrotsen1100 Год назад

      @@slandergames9494 online is extremely unimportant, as far as i saw there are just some kinds of daily quests and battles which play automatically with a team you saved up. For the price the PC Version might be more appealing to you since it is only like 20 bucks or something there but the performance on the switch is flawless in both modes i think it might actually be stable 60 fps.

    • @Selet101
      @Selet101 Год назад +1

      @@slandergames9494 Haven't really done much of anything online. It gives you a quest you can complete each day for some online shop point things, but don't need to do any of it at any point.
      There is a few free gifts you can get on every save file for some stat chips and evolution cores in the dimensional chest(way to access online). Good idea to grab them for easy money early on, since you don't really need to the stats from them. Would keep the evolution cores for later if you're planning on completing the evolution guide though.
      There is a PvP aspect to it that i've never done anything with. So can't tell you how that works.
      In short, online play is not needed at all. Most use i've had for it is just connecting for 60 seconds at the start of a play through to grab the items for some early money.
      Haven't played the PC version, but there is almost no lag on the switch. loading screens go by quite quick and everything. I believe this is a better game for switch just so you're not stuck in your computer desk playing all the time.
      Note: I do not know if i was just having a bug or not, but the game would not load the starting screen if my wifi was not connected. I'm not 100% sure this game does not require internet connection to start up or not for switch. just kept freezing before the main menu would show up. The second i reconnected to wifi the game loaded normally again though.
      So go in knowing that you may need a wifi connection to at least load the game, but you really don't need it for anything in the game for more than a couple seconds unless you want to do PvP which i can not explain to you how that works as i've never tried.

    One thing there is a run button. If you press y while in battle you can use escape then you are returned to the map entrance to get away. This does have a punishment of damaging your bond. The game is worth the money because it’s extremely long and has allot of replay value seeing that you can raise your digimon a different way. They can try out different digi eggs. The new game+ even has a new digiegg added which in turn gives you new digimon and evolution that you didn’t have on the first play through . You can also do daily quests etc. So it’s worth the 60 euro to people who loved the first digimon world for example (which are ALLOT of people). Just because you don’t like the way you need to play this doesn’t mean it doesn’t have a loving audience.

      If you're a big Pokémon fan then you can think of it as a challenge that asks: "Can you handle the side of monster raising that Pokémon skips simulating?"

    This game is 10/10 for me due to DW1 nostalgia. God the OST is bazookas! Really loved the Sentimental Sand Storage and Blue Chant (ne0 version) song among others. Btw gym is not important at all. You can go level up and finished the game rather quickly even without going inside the gym once. You just need to know where the digimon gives lot exp and money on each map such as BlackWeregarurumon in Bony Resort. He is you best exp and especially money farm in the game early on. When you get money, unlock MagnaAngemon in restaurant and rest is easy.

    Full price for a port is already baffling but Bandai even went another step ahead by giving bad regional pricing on steam for this game.
    As a digimon fan it does irks me because I know if the sales are bad they'll just blame it on the game being unpopular instead of bad marketing choices.
