    This doesn't just apply to games, either. You can use the same process to break down any skill or goal.
    Great way to explain it to those new to the process, though!

    This is really interesting, but it feels harder to do this breakdown in goals that aren't game-related. I'd love to see some examples of this applied to stuff outside gaming.

    This video has really got me thinking about a lot of stuff. I think I’m very inconsistent in what my goal is in Overwatch lol. I think I flip flop multiple times in a match between being an aggressive support and defensive support. I’ll try to apply this and be more consistent in my playstyle to try to find out what does and doesn’t work for me.

    one disagreement: another thing you can do with Ana is positioning, which ties into movement
    there's also movement techniques, say, against an enemy Widow, to minimize the chance of getting headshot
    arguably neither of those are extremely helpful on the broad scale you're working with, i think

    • @lugnut1206
      @lugnut1206 5 лет назад

      @Daniel Hughes I don't agree - to me, "mechanics" in terms of positioning would be like crouchspamming and AD strafing to avoid enemy widow headshots, but positioning is like determining more abstractly where a flanker should be positioning in order to take advantage of opportunities, or when a tank should go aggressive, or simply actually remembering to utilize hard cover instead of just standing in the open and relying on mechanical skill.
      do you disagree?

    Step 0: get good at playing the game so you are able to state achievable goals. From your examples, is pirates actually viable, what is aggro, I've yet to discover that hitting head-shots is beyond my aiming ability, etc. People don't know what they don't know.

    • @rickdg
      @rickdg 5 лет назад

      @fez! Exactly. You can only get to step 1 by first learning about the game, so this step 1 is kinda useless.

  • @Ellipsis115
    @Ellipsis115 2 года назад

    Maybe instead of listing like 11 different things I can focus on for each hero, I should list like 7 things and then the choices within those 7 things (totalling to 11 possibilities) so I get a better idea of the variables I control and if and whens and if I'm being too aggro or passive in certain situations etc. but I think for my main zen this is a bit harder but for rein I could put his sheild and hammer in the same thing so e.g.
    1. Comms (a weak ability on rein but you do decide where the team fights)
    2. a) Hammer
    b) Sheild
    c) firestrike
    d) stay in cover (yes these are the 4 choices as firestriking, swinging and even sheilding are harmful to do when you're out of the fight/firestrikes on cooldown and don't want to take unnessesary damage/charge sheild (although you can keep firestriking to build ult/faint building ult by always missing a little bit)
    3. a) Ultimate - defensive (e.g stop ults)
    b) Ult - aggro (e.g. shatter enemy supports)

I felt really comfortable in high diamond so I was motivated to push to 3500 next season, but I have wound up with a 33% win rate and am currently at 3100 sr and dropping. How can I stay motivated when I feel like my experience last season was a lie, and I'll never touch masters, let alone high diamond, again?

    Skyline i do almost the same thing but i change the variables every like 3 hours of gameplay, since the lower the time the more inconsistant results. Also, i think the TFT example was not that good since there is a good amount of rng involved ( probably should have just said that ).

    • @maximebrault4534
      @maximebrault4534 5 лет назад

      Don't get me wront, I 100% agree that there's a lot of rng involved, but It goes one step further, look at heartstone as an example, the game itself is a card game which by definition relies on drawing the right cards at the right time, plus a lot of cards depends on pure luck. But strangely, the players standing on top of ladder / tournaments are always the same players.

    • @nikospyridis9579
      @nikospyridis9579 5 лет назад

      @@maximebrault4534 I have played a good amount of hearthstone and from what i noticed, high tier players play reliable decks or decks that have cards that draw you the win conditions. But it is still pure luck for most decks. I remember watching i think bloodtrail who had an incredible game but his enemy got dr. Boom Mad Genius on turn 7, while bloodtrail got his Deathstalker Rexxar as his second to last card, while mulliganing aggressively for it and trying his best to find it.
