      I think that in video where i don't really know what to expect you should really add timestamps. That helps a great deal rewatching certain bits and general navigation.
      Many creators have started to apply this in their videos as youtube has also started supporting it natively
      This is my very first and sincere suggestion.

    Remember: Oftentimes, you need a more direct plan; a checklist, if you will. Tell yourself: I’ll accomplish this, then this, then this. Often times people go too broad, and then get overwhelmed. It’s much harder to get overwhelmed when everything is one step at a time.

    I would like to add 4 questions you can ask yourself when trying to determine the best action to take (sort of like a more organized what-if analysis). I first discovered these questions while reading Dr. Ben Carson's book "Take the Risk", which I highly recommend.
    1. What is the best possible outcome if action is chosen
    2. What is the best possible outcome if action is not chosen
    3. What is the worst possible outcome if action is chosen
    4. What is the worst possible outcome if action is not chosen
    Once you have answers to these 4 simple questions, it often becomes clear what the best alternative is.

    What I find difficult is acting on the plan. Is there a stage where there is too much planning and not enough action? Is it easier to plan once you’ve already reached success? I think most people have an uncertainty about their plan which leads to inaction. That uncertainty is also coupled with fear. Attacking those 2 areas of ones plan to change or accomplish something, I feel is necessary to then really take advantage of planning.

    • @dee5168
      @dee5168 4 года назад +24

      oh yes definitely, sometimes i put things off because i don’t have a direct plan, so, i keep on planning. But eventually it turns into a “i can’t do this without the plan being perfect” when in fact you already have to tools to act. done is better then being perfect.

    • @Smokey63
      @Smokey63 4 года назад +7

      Sounds to me like you need a more direct plan; a checklist, if you will. Tell yourself: I’ll accomplish this, then this, then this. Often times people go too broad, and then get overwhelmed. It’s much harder to get overwhelmed when everything is one step at a time.

    • @Thomasfrank
      @Thomasfrank  4 года назад +60

      This answer is probably incomplete, but I find that setting deadlines for myself helps me to strike that balance between planning and action. I know I can always course-correct along the way, so it's useful to make the best plan I can in a short amount of time, and then to use a deadline as a way to spur myself to get things done.

    • @SimplyGot55
      @SimplyGot55 4 года назад +6

      To reiterate what Dee said it is much better to decide/act then to wait until everything is aligned perfectly. By the time everything is 💯 aligned the window of opportunity may have closed.

    A major advancement in my bullet journaling was adding an anticipation entry for each calendar item. For example, when I had a doctor's appointment, I would enter what I expected to change after I attended that appointment. I also added space for anticipating events or changes in conditions that were outside conventional calendar items. Turns out, I became far better at predicting the course of my future, particularly in the short term.

    I was hoping you could make a video on "Starting Over" and how to tackle it. Like perhaps if you feel a dream has expired or a task does not seem doable the way you originally imagined. How would go from there?

    1.) You are SOOOO fine. 2.) This outfit definitely enhances it. 3.) It would be awesome to delve into how to use strategy in ways that are less obvious than money. Like changes in career when there's no modeler or numerical systems to add or subtract like credits. I guess, how to use a what-if analysis and mental modeling or alternate forms of data in making big career/life decisions. I imagine Journaling could be one way to create mental models but it would be interesting to hear about alternative data sources. Thoughts?

    Thanks. Nice insights (especially for me, as a coder where planning and doing are tighly coupled). But man that shirt seems tight :)
